Mental health

First week at home has been OK. Very fortunate to have a garden while the sun is shining. Think the weather turns tomorrow though so trying to make the most of it now.

It's affecting my productivity in general, hopefully next week will be better now that I've eased into it.

I'm using the time off work to improve my cooking skills. I have very few skill points in cooking. Currently making a vegetable and lentil soup, which I know isn't much but it's better than my usual effort.

What kind of veggie? Thick soup or watery soup? Do you like your lentils soft and mushy?

There's carrot, onion, turnip, and tatties in it and it's quite watery since I didn't mash the veg. The lentils are indeed soft and mushy. It will be served with bread fresh from the oven.

I always thought that too, but then I read that a rutabaga is actually a cross between the cabbage and the turnip and not actually a turnip.
Today was a good day, some days are better than others.

Saturday's and Sunday's are good days at this Psychiatric Hospital, visits are not allowed on the days during the week!

The doctors let us watch a prisoner of war film last week, so a few of us got together and we are digging a tunnel.

I miss my relatives and I miss my friends, seeing them on Zoom is just not the same as face to face 🙁

I miss the dog. 🙁 I speak to my parents on the phone every day but I've not seen the dog in over a week (and the continued lockdown will make it longer) and obviously I can't talk to him over the phone. I've not got skype or zoom or anything, I live alone, the only time I actually SEE people is the one hour a week when I go food shopping.

I'm not an overly social person anyway (which is just as well) but there will come a point when loneliness will start kicking in.

Don't worry, love. I'll always be creeping around outside your window. You're never really alone. 😛

So disappointed here, there isn't a shot of Pike's mate outside the window, from the Buffy movie.

I must get round to doing this as well. I'm eating less though so less need for it. I'm doing well otherwise though thanks. We've been doing quizzes, online games and video chats. A bit of gardening and I even got the weight bench out. Just received a payslip as well so that's a bonus! How are you and the family doing?

Meanwhile, I'm not on lock down or anything, but during a bout of insomnia I discovered this and I may never use a plate again

Cooking skills, schmooking skills 😛
(lentil soup is great though, I'm too lazy to make it myself but I wonder if I can make it in a mug... hmmm)

You really ARE in the dark ages, aren't you.

I would probably have enjoyed it more if I'd mashed the veg and made it a thicker soup but laziness struck me too!
My brother who is very social & needs people around him also lives & is stuck alone at his apartment. He has a 1 year old daughter who is now stuck in Belgium with her mother. My brother has to wait to see his daughter.

His ex girlfriend/daughter's mother sent a video of his daughter who just now succeeded to walk on her two feet but my brother can't see this by himself.

I'm really, really lucky that I prefer being alone. I mean, self-isolation is my usual routine (unless I'm working or shopping). When I'm around people for too long, I get super tired...and annoyed. Ever since my brother died last year, I can't think of ANYONE I want to be around longer than 5 minutes.

bet she could be around me for a whole 15 mins!
I feel tired and my eating habits are even more shit than usual, feels like we have been like this for a few months even though it's only the third week...

Yeah I agree, it is easier if you live alone anyway and enjoy your own company. I am lucky (in a way) that I am still working and can see people and it feels like life hasn't changed too much. I don't live in a big city either, it's more rural/industrial, and things seem to running pretty much as normal.
