Okay, well, I don't hate it. I'm up to disc 5 (just finished Players) and there's both things about it that I like and things about it I dislike.

Things I like:
  • Weslah
  • Spin The Bottle
  • Angelus. He's just SO entertaining! Sorry Angel fans, but I'm liking Angelus a lot more than Mr Broody right now.
  • Faith. Her arc was awesome. I like how she put Connor in his place.
  • Willow

Things I dislike:
  • Connor/Cordelia. It's just icky.
  • Pretty much the whole hi-jacking of Cordy's character
  • Knowing that it's leading up to the Jasmine thing

Faith and Willow are the highlights of s4 for me :)

I agree with all of your points (and I love Angel but c'mon... Angelus is just so... so much fun 😀 😀)

I don't like season 4, but I like the parts that you like and I dislike the parts that you dislike. But my 2 favorite parts are Weslah (because it was hot) and Faith (because I love her 🙂 ) !

But I hate Cordy and Connor because it was GROSS and I don't like the Jasmine arc!

I also LOVE your banner :D
Oh yeah, I totally loved Weslah! Loved to see a softer side of Lilah (like when she came to Wes just to see if he was alive, and she couldn't hide how happy she was that he was okay. Just so cute. + the hotness of them!).
The beast-Angelus-Faith-Willow are the episode I've been waiting for since Angel season 1!

And like you said...Cordy. God. I hate evil Cordy. I hate Jocastian Cordy. It all just ruins her character completly.
It sucks. I can't wait to see You're welcome, the last real-Cordy episode!

We like and dislike all the same parts. Wes/Lilah is super hot and despite all the "it's just for sex" you can tell she genuinely cares for him. Spin The Bottle is my 2nd fave Angel episode. Angelus is just so entertaining and a good time to watch. Faith's arc was great and marking Willow's third appearance was so great. Fred and Willow spent one ep together and come out a one of my ships. Imagine a long term relationship...

So what did you think of Connor? Pretty please don't hate him. But Connor/Cordelia is just gross.

Yes it's obvious that everyone thinks that way, but it was just funny that we posted it almost word-for-word the same, and also at the exact same time.
It's pretty much a worldwide agreement that the Cordelia / Connor thing was not only morally wrong, but just plain gross. To quote one of my favorite characters from another California-based show:

Eww!

I think season 4 is remembered for that more than anything else and it's kind of like Buffy season 6, known more for Willow going bad (sticking with the not-so-positives for a moment) than anything else. It was a very dark season, and also a very time-compressed one. I remember it wasn't just emotionally dark, but literally dark - when it aired on The WB most of it was hard to actually see on screen, like parts of Buffy Season 7 were on UPN. The DVDs were a better presentation in that sense because the image was brighter. It's like saying wow, this is one disturbing, dark season...I can't even see what's going on!

EDIT: ElmoHasAGun and I both posted the same thing at the same time, saying the Cordelia / Connor thing was gross. 🙂

Everyone posting here is saying that Conner/Cordy is gross, so y'know...

Connor/Cordelia is the only relationship oficially recognised as unequivocally disgusting - it has been proven by science.
So what did you think of Connor?

Well, I don't hate him, but he does get on my nerves when he never listens to other people and continually tries to kill Angel/Angelus. I don't like how he's so easily manipulated. I loved seeing him and Darla interact.

I probably prefer season 6 of Buffy to season 4 of Angel. Because, hey, anything with Spike in it automatically trumps Connor/Cordelia in my book. And I think because Connor is so angsty I'm starting to dislike Dawn a little less.

I agree...anything with Spike definitely trumps Connelia..ew

Also, I too agree with you about disliking Dawn a lot less. Connor just makes everyone else seem like little angels!

Eww!

No one can say it quite like Summer.

Season 4 was the most epic season of television ever (for me). Is C/C gross? Ew, yes! The tone, evil Cordy, The Beast, Wesley, Jasmine ... God, I. Love. It.

:evilgrin2

I'm a minority, I know.

Oh I know couple peoples who absolutely love it Zepp, including me! I hated C/C, it was creepy as hell, but that season arc is so great! Faith, Angelus, Willow, The Beast, Weslah, Lorne finally on the opening credits! 😎

Best season of the show!

Jackpot! People who love S4! Yes, Lorne in credits - about time!
Season 4 the best? No way. 🙂

It was cool that Lorne finally made it in the opening credits, he should have been there since season 2.

The Faith/Angelus/Willow arc WAS epic. Jasmine really annoyed me, though.

It was so sad when Wes tried to burn Lilah's contract and it failed. Poor Wesley. I love him so much.

I love that scene in "Home"
Also, I too agree with you about disliking Dawn a lot less. Connor just makes everyone else seem like little angels!

Lol, heartily disagree with you. It actually made me dislike Dawn more because Connor has reasons to whine, she's just... gah! Can't stand her

well I guess you have a point there..touché! :p
IMO, Season 4 was the worst one of all.

I liked that thingy with the beast and the re-appearance of Faith and Willow, but that was it already. And not to forget, the comeback of Darla in "Inside out" and of Angelus.
I have never liked Connor that much and his affair with Cordy was just ugly. And Jasmine, that wasn't such a creepy story. Mehh....

Not to jump on the band wagon but Weslah, or Wilah as I like to call it (I like the sound of it better). I'll take a stand and say I loved the Jasmine storyline. I love the philosophical argument between Angel and Jasmine thematically, it touched on what Ats as a mission statement is all about without making the former a cliche villain. Personally, I much preferred the Ats villains to the Btvs villains. Having a God as bad guy seems like Joss was trying too hard. Having a law firm, a corrupted hero, son of a champion and rogue PTB as villains was much more compelling.

Connor and Cordy isn't even a thing for me. From Connor's perspective it makes sense and it it wasn't really Cordy so, it was more instrumental on Jasmine's part. To compare Connor/Cordy to Bangel or Spuffy etc is a faulty comparison, it isn't even a ship as far as I'm concerned.

The fight with the Beast was amazing, better than anything I'd seen on Btvs but I'm glad he wasn't the main big bad because how dull that would have been. So he's very strong, and????

The redemption arc with Faith was great because it was a great refer back to Season 1. essentially Angelus tried to undo everything that Angel did. It was also great for my other favourite character Wes who needed to be shown that doing whatever it takes in the fight isn't the only way to win, a theme that reverberated into season 5 of Ats.

The Gunn/Fred/Wes/Lilah quadrangle was more interesting than Frunn or Fresley but not necessarily Wilah.

I loved your post so much Kana, so I'm going to add up to it!

It sure was really cool ideas for villains... Also I smirked at the fact you didn't put one for s5! Because freaking Joss didn't wanna show us the SPs 🙁

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT AGREE! Connelia was NOT a ship and cannot be compared to Cangel, Bangel, Spuffy and so on. I never bought the whole ''Connor loved Cordelia''. I know it's gonna sound harsh, but for me it was only him wanting *something* his dad had. That and maybe someone he could *honestly* care about.

The fight with the Beast was amazing, better than anything I'd seen on Btvs but I'm glad he wasn't the main big bad because how dull that would have been. So he's very strong, and?

It was really good. And they should have never got rid of The Beast the way they did. Lame.

Really really loved Faith during that arc 😀 Even though it wasn't *her* show, she still kicked some ass and put that little kiddo in his place.

Agree with you both. About pretty much everything
I've been re-watching this season and I just have to say that this season is really amazing. I mean it takes you places that you (unspoiled) would never have imagined you would go.

The fight with the Beast is epic!

And as for Connor and Cordelia I don't really have a problem with it anyore (let's face it partly it's kind of gross because Charisma looks so much older than Vincent, whereas Cordy really is only supposed to be like 22 to his 18) and also like Kana said it's understandable from Connor's perspective and Cordy... well she wasn't really Cordy.

Also I would have to say if I could change anything about season 4 I would keep even the Connor/Cordy thing as long as I could get rid of this line from "Salvage"
Cordy to the Beast: "Now give mama some sugar"

... what where they thinking? Seriously. How was that line necessary? Why did she have to make out with the Beast...? Ugh..., so yeah, that's the one thing I would mostly like to change about this season.

The singular thing more gross than Connor/Cordy. Besides being gross, it doesn't even make sense, since I doubt beings like The Beast and Jasmine enjoy kissing the way humans do.

Anyway, I really like the Jasmine arc, just not how it came about (through Connor/Cordy). They should've just let Cordy be an off-screen Power until Charisma gave birth or something, instead of destroying her character. Even her coma is glossed over, with the other characters barely expressing any sadness about it, if any at all.

I hate what they did to Cordelia.

However I loved "Why do you think I let him out you stupid bitch".

---------- Post added at 11:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:21 PM ----------

Did anyone else think what they did to Cordelia was personal?

I thought this before I read about the mean way they ditch her (Charisma) and given how unnecessary some of the scenes were it would make sense. Or does this make me a crazy conspiracy nut fan?
