I loved this episode and how Buffy gets a crush on the brooding Owen but has to break up with him because he wants to be 'danger man'. She almost gets it together with a normal guy with Angel like qualities! Yet it was also a nice touch when Angel at the Bronze slides up to her unexpectedly and you can see her deeper attraction to him. "I was hoping to find you here" Buffy: "You were?" Then she is disapointed that it was just more 'shop talk' and gets back at him by introducing Owen as her date. Owen was a nice guy and Buffy obviously thought so yet he's never mentioned or appears again in the series after that! Unlike Scott Hope and Parker later on...

I liked the way Owen discouraged/ignored Cordelia:

Owen: Who's all going?
Cordelia: Well, um, I'm gonna be there.
Owen: Who else?
Cordelia: You mean besides me?

And later on:

Owen: No, I'm still here with Buffy 🙂

I didn't mind Owen, he was alright. I was never a big Bangel shipper even in the beginning, so I thought they might get together. But, the way he was all about the danger and he got such an adrenaline boost from it, he probably would have ended up dead with in a few episodes, so it was probably for the best that nothing came of it.

Well I thought he was alright. I would have liked to see him in a few more episodes for sure, after all he was like the human version of Angel which would have been really interesting to see.

I also like this episode
and it shows us how difficult a relationship between a slayer and a real human is =)

No. Joss did go to bat for an Owen spinoff though, but the stupid network executives didn't think a show about Buffy's brief boyfriend moving to New York to start a broadway acting career while taking care of his deadbeat dad sounded like a good series. Idiots.

Seriously?
He was cute until he turned out to be all into the morbid and dangerous. then he was just annoying, following them to the morgue and all that.

Again, season one makes me look back on my high school days with a nostalgic, yet relieved smile. I so recognise the attraction of the broody chap. He could be thinking all kinds of deep thoughts behind that seroius facade, especially a good looking broody guy with a pocket watch. Yet when they get to know eachother, he's every bit as immature as the rest of them.

I completely agree with this statement. :)
I always thought it would be Buffy and the fry-cook from Doublemeat Palace. She could even help him get the grease out of his ears. Sooo romantic! 😀

^^
Brilliant!

He was a jerk, but kinda cute. Would have loved to see him get killed though!

I REALLY would have loved to see him get killed. He annoyed the **** out of me! He was so incredibly pretentious without even trying to be. He was a walking cliché. *Shudders at the mere thought of him*

I thought he was kinda cute. Wonder what happened to him. I think he had a run in with a vampire, was turned, wanted to kill Buffy for dumping him, but got acciidentaly dusted by a tree. Or something like that.

I liked Owen, he was sweet and funny but at the same time he was stupid. But he sure was cute.
