New Buffyverse series on Audible with a focus on Spike

Cordelia and Anya don't actually know that history from what we can tell. Angelus may or may not exist in their timeline and he may or may not have sired their Drusilla.

They knew Drusilla with Spike and Drusilla without Spike and much preferred the former, so they sought out Spike. From their perspective it has nothing to do with Angel. Only Spike knows that history and if Angel isn't around it's not relevant as it's time-sensitive.

More car, exercise or other background listening, for me anyway, as otherwise I have a habit of forgetting that I am listening and get distracted and start doing something else. But media forms are a personal preference thing.

If this is successful, though, I can imagine others being made. Perhaps with more of the shows' actors, and perhaps eventually something animated.

I hate the thick background noises, and I know this is typical of audio dramas, but honestly I would prefer for it to sound like an actual episode of television than have the heightened noises for like opening a car door or people talking in a bar.

I think it sounds like he’s reading it for the first time to be honest… he still acts a lot in the Uk, and he’s still great…. Totally agree his performance is a bit jarring!

I’m enjoying it for the most part! It’s a real hodge podge of characters though. There’s not really a strong link between a lot of them. Giles and Anya is probably the most meaningful pre existing relationship from the show which wouldn’t be in the top 20 you would think of wanting to explore if you had carte Blanche, but it is what it is!

I did feel that Anya and Tara had a relationship, albeit one that wasn't largely seen.

i’m currently three episodes in and i can definitely say if you’re a clem fan like me you should 100% check it out!!

It is possible that, without the visual cues, a proportion of the listeners could find sounds hard to identify unless they are exaggerated. I am just speculating, though.
 
Spike, Clem, Cordelia, Anya and Drusilla to me all sound like they used to.

Haven't heard Giles yet.
 
I’ve noticed James is doing that weird Dick Van Dyke style ‘cor aye guvnor!’ accent that he bizarrely adopted in Angel S5. The old accent wasn’t great but it didn’t pull me out like this one does

glad I helped make it to the top-ish in the US! Maybe if people see that the Buffyverse is still relevant, we will get more content!

I really miss Buffy being protagonist though. I do like Cordelia in what I’ve listened to so far, but I miss Buffy. I don’t even care if Sarah is Buffy, so long as the voice actress does their job in emulating her.

Maybe this could lead to an epic animated series, especially if many of the leads are into it! ❤️

If this is successful, I reckon we will get more content, and that could lead to more of the originals coming back.

They should just get Giselle Loren. She did a good enough job as Buffy in the two video games and the unaired animated series pilot.

I doubt Swanson would gel with the rest of the cast considering she's a very vocal Trumpster. Giselle Loren has already voiced Buffy 3 times (unaired animated series pilot, the 2002 Xbox game, and the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube game Chaos Bleeds) and she's a voice actor first and foremost so I think she'd be a better (and probably much cheaper) choice for an audio drama if she's available.

Found it really funny when Cordy said ‘shagging’ really made me laugh. Nearly finished now, enjoying it. Amber is very OTT as Tara. Juliette and James just fit together like a glove, they are fantastic together. Tony sounds drunk, it’s definitely phoned in.
 
Not gonna happen, but a bunch of dedicated fans with the body shapes of Spike, Anya, Cordelia, Drusilla, Giles, etc. could even make a "TV show" of this.

By playing their roles and then later deep faking the actors' faces over their own ones.
