New Layout for Main Page

From a styling perspective, I was finding that having the box there where the background of the banner was often a different color (by necessity) than the actual page, plus the text floating there, seemed very disorganized and jarring to me. And also on different browsers and page widths the banner didn't always fill the the box, which was annoying.
Let's try it out for a few weeks - there's nothing to say it can't be edited or changed.
As sk said we've been using something similar on AD and I've grown to like it, though it wasn't something I liked when it was first implemented. We had something like this before on BB, years ago.

Okay, reputation notifications are fixed - I just forgot to switch a setting. They'll show up in the notifications dropdown now.

Oh and there always is the "Clean Style" which has no modifications.

I was surprised by the new layout on the main page when I noticed that BB came back. I don't hate it. I can adjust to this change with some time to get use to the change.
And like Faith said, it's just the main page. It's not like it's the entire board. I spend most of my time with the search results page. I just keep going back to that page instead of going back to the main page after checking out a new post.

Everyone is invited to be there, as far as I'm aware.
Anyway, it wasn't the main point of my post. I simply said there was speculation...which I'm sure was there on twitter, and on the BB Facebook page etc.
If anyone feels that they are NOT invited - I'd say please PM me for the link, and I will have absolutely no reservations about giving it to anyone 🙂 I'd love more people to drop by.
They shouldn't frankly need to pm anyone for the link...we have a chat room for members here and by nature of the link not being publicized it's exclusionary.
I only mentioned it because people have been talking about it around the board and they might not realize how talking about a chat not everyone knows about can make those people feel. It's the same as a group talking about being on skype together.

The only reason the link is not publicised is because of spiders and robots.
I take your point, I still maintain that if anyone wants to join Rixnet, I'd implore them to PM me, as the chat is likely not ever to be publicised, due to that fact, and we really would love you all to join us.

And in the meantime we went to the trouble to set up temporary chat rooms that barely anyone uses.

I personally find it difficult to use, as it requires your constant attention, since it doesn't notify you. The other chat was widely used :)

I really don't like it at all. I don't see the point of changing the layout in the first place. Change for the sake of change never ends well.

It's exactly the same type of chat we had before...this doesn't really need to become a big discussion, I was just pointing out that it makes others feel bad hearing it constantly referred to.

I just tried to access it, and it said the server was too busy, but that was the problem I had with it on the one occasion I went in. It's not as though the other chat is to blame for the temp one not being widely used, anyhow.
This is how I visualise it, and it's really different from before. And it doesn't notify me either 🙂

It is EXACTLY the same as the last chat, just on a different server. The information to use Mibbit is in the thread about the temp chat.
As Darla said, lets not make this a discussion about the chat - its about the new layout.
However you can use different programmes that access it, I do, and it gives me notifications when people enter etc.

It didn't take long. I'm already used to how it looks now.
Not liking the change I get. It's a personal feeling. Not liking change or taking time to adjust to it I also get. That's where I am most of the time. It's not a huge change so I have trouble understanding those who have a big problem with it. Try to get used to it before making judgement. First impressions don't always last.
