Sorry may I am simply to stupid. Is this design the new design or only a temporary change? And secondly I found the karma button but I noticed that my reputation does not show on the post I gave it! Is this normal? Or did I make a mistake?

Yeah but look what it turned into? Becuase some people can't just simply say 'hmm I'm not a big fan of it' end of conversation. It's not being done constructively by everyone. Darla handled the constructive ones well. At first I read the thread and people were polite about their dislike of it and she replied saying just give it a chance it doesn't have to stay. I thought oh good the threads actually going well (most of the changes dont) and then it turned in to a disaster. Because even though it had already been said people had to keep on complaining and keep on saying they didnt like it. If ten people before you have said the exact same thing you really dont need to add on.
And sometimes if you don't like something you still dont always have to say it. I'm not even going to give my opinion on the layout change. Cause it doesn't really matter.
It's a free forum,
I have a big problem with you saying this. Why should it matter if 10 people before me had the same opinion as me? 100? I don't care what people before me had to say, I want to voice my opinion because everyone's opinion counts and people should bring awareness to whatever they believe in.
There's a reason this thread has so many pages of complaints, because people don't like the new layout.
So you telling people to stop voicing their opinions is dumb, if 100 people don't like the new layout than all 100 should be able to say so, because this isn't some dictatorship. It's a free forum, and I feel people are too emotionally invested in this place, to the point where they don't like anyone criticizing it, but this is 2012, everything get criticized and you need to either ignore it and move on or take the criticism and try to understand where its coming from and make things better.

Think of protests, you need as many people to bring awareness to your cause, correct? When people see a protest they don't say "Oh man, they already have 10 people there...so I shouldn't go", see what i'm saying? Granted protests are for a more important cause than a new layout, but the idea is the same.

Yeah well your attitude is what I have a big problem with.
If ten people before you have the same exact opinion leave a karma agreeing with them we dont need ten pages of people saying the exact same thing it gets tiresome and eventually just hurts peoples feelings. Its not that your opinion doesnt matter its that its already been said!
That right there is a perfect example of how you shouldn't talk to someone. Exactly what I'm talking about when I say members are rude to other people without even second glancing what they wrote. You may not like what I said but nothing I said was a personal attack on you but you basically just called me stupid.
I'm telling people to stop echoing what has already been stated ten times before them. That's what Karma is for. To show you agree with something that has already been said without having to make a post echoing the exact same thing.
Its not a free forum. Darla pays for it. That whole attitude about how people have to learn to take criticism is not what this forum is about because that's bullying. No one has to just suck it up. You have to treat people with respect and if you can't do that then that is the problem not the other person.
Karma doesn't have the same effect though. Being able to write how I feel on a forum post is the best way to my feelings across. Karma is good for agreeing, but some people want to explain themselves and expand on their ideas. Karma simply doesn't do that.
I didn't call you stupid. I said you were saying stupid things. I don't know you but i'm sure you're a smart person, and sometimes smart people can say stupid things. I like to think i'm smart, and I say stupid things all the time.
That's not the way society works. What you're talking about is some imaginary fantasy land. In theory people should treat one another with respect, but does it happen? No. No matter who you are at some point in your life you will be criticized. And you either need to stand up and defend yourself , ignore it or apply the criticism to make yourself better.
Sometimes people are just too sensitive, it always amazes me how people become so emotionally invested in forums, to the point where it causes them problems in their real lives. I'm probably in the minority, but when people insult/criticize me on forums, I don't take it personally. I guess it's hard for me to relate to people who feel the forums are such an important part of their lives, and it's probably why I don't understand people who get so insulted when there are negative opinions (like in this thread)
I took a step back last night because I got really angry. I was starting to say things I'd regret. I came back and I feel a little more leveled about this.
I re-read the WHOLE thread. And I still feel that no one really dumped on Darla. I don't see where someone called HER out and said that everything she does is terrible. I was the most vocal person about my distaste for the new layout, and I feel like everything I said was about the layout itself, not Darla... and I tried to provide constructive reasoning behind it. Now, if I didn't, if I did hurt someone's feelings with what I said, I would appreciate if someone would tell me where so I can apologize for it. I think that obviously other people who may have hurt people's feelings don't know where that is either since no one is apologizing. So I don't know, if you want something from someone, send them a PM or something.
To me, this feels a bit like giving a friend the "cold shoulder" when they've done something to piss you off... but they don't know what they did and since you're not talking to them you won't tell them. This is not a constructive way to deal with conflict. And I'm not saying that from a place of anger or frustration, I'm saying that from an observer's point of view.
Because what we have going on here is: Mods give us new theme. People express their opinions. Mods say "try it out for a while." People go along with it and keep expressing their opinions... most of which are "I'll have to get used to it." And if you're going to have a trial period of something like that, opinions all the way through it are important... So that happens. Then negativity gets blown up in a microscope by a couple people... and then the mods get upset at something someone or a group of people said and then the new toys get taken away. And the mods say "You have to be respectful!" "you all weren't respectful!" "you hurt my feelings!" "You're dumping on so-and-so!" The members at this point are like "what happened?? Who said something so terrible? I'm confused! Are we getting the board the way it was back? What is going on?" I, as the person who was the most vocal about my distaste for the new layout yesterday, would love to go do that trial period now... Because this all feels so childish. Honestly, if drama is not wanted, the people who said something hurtful would get PMS and that would be dealt with privately and everyone else would go through the trial period of the new layout with the boxes.
Just to compare it, Someone makes an art thread on here and puts up their pieces. Everyone starts telling them they don't like their art and it could be better - nope, that doesn't happen.
I don't really see how it's any different, if a member was putting up pieces, everyone on here would be respectful and nice, but when it comes to Darla putting work into the site, much like any other time, it results in bitching and complaining.
It's not like this is the first time, any time she does anything to the site it results in people bitching.
