Thanks nerd4hire, good stuff there.
However none of that says that Buffy is the current ACTIVE slayer in the sense of the slayer line. When Buffy died in Season 1 Prophecy Girl the mantle of the slayer was passed to Kendra, Buffy was revived by Xander using CPR, the transference of the mantle of the slayer in no way affected the previous slayer, she retained her strength, her powers, even her prophetic dreams but the one possible exception to keep the line intact, as a line, Buffy could not activate another slayer upon her 'next' death.
Season 2 What's My Line Pt 2
Willow: Is that even possible? I mean, two Slayers at the same time?
Giles: Not to my knowledge. Um, th-the new Slayer is only called after
the previous Slayer has died. Uh... (realizes) Oh, good Lord! You were
dead, Buffy.
Buffy: I was only gone for a minute.
Giles: Clearly it doesn't matter how long you were gone. You were
physically dead! Thus causing the activation of the, the next Slayer.
(nods toward Kendra)
Kendra: She died?
Buffy: Just a little.
Giles: She drowned, but she was revived.
Now Kendra died and that activated Faith, who was the active slayer, now this is not to say that Buffy wasn't a slayer.
Season 3 Faith, Hope and Trick
Cordelia: Not the horny thing. Yuck! But the two Slayer thing. There
was one, and then Buffy died for, like, two minutes, so then Kendra was
called, and then when she died, Faith was called.
Now Buffy died in Season 5 The Gift via contact with a dimensional rift/portal and then the ground.
Okay so in Season 6 Bargaining Willow, Tara, Xander and Anya invoke Osiris to resurrect Buffy using Magick. As Season 6 tells us she was bought back something other than human (Spike can hit her even with the chip is proof of that) but other than that she was bought back as she was when she died, a slayer. However Buffy's first death simple or a more natural way to die when compared to dimensional rifts, she drowned and was out for a couple of minutes before being revived by Xander and some handy CPR techniques. Buffy's second death was not simple, her soul was in heaven (or a paradise dimension) and her body was decaying in the ground for months. We don't know if the slayer power is tied with either body or soul but Season 7 Get It Done shows that the source of the power is a demon spirit.
Season 7 Get It Done
RED HAT SHADOW MAN
SUBTITLE: Herein lies your truest strength.
BLACK HAT SHADOW MAN
SUBTITLE: The energy of the demon. Its spirit.
BROWN HAT SHADOW MAN
SUBTITLE: Its heart.
BUFFY
This is how you"”
RED HAT SHADOW MAN
SUBTITLE: Created the slayer? (nods) Yes.
Now to be this indicates that the slayer power is not connected to either the body or the soul and is separate unto its self. So when Buffy died her slayerness for lack of a better term was just released, possibly flowing back into the slayer line, possibly just dissipating.
Now when Willow and the others used Magick to resurrect Buffy they wanted to recreate her as she was before she died, so they needed her body (tick in that box as it was still in the ground), her soul (they pulled it out of heaven) and the slayerness, which they would have to get from somewhere and if either of the options of what happened to it above are right then they have to get it from the slayer power line. So anyway they resurrect Buffy, she still has the strength and all of the slayer. No other slayer appears in Sunnydale (doesn't count out that she could be somewhere else). Now Season 7 starts and the First Evil starts trying to irradicate the slayer line by wiping out the Potentials, Buffy and Faith.

GILES
If The First has been around for all time, then why hasn't it attempted something like this before? Why now?
BELJOXA'S EYE
The opportunity has only recently presented itself.
GILES
Opportunity?
BELJOXA'S EYE
The mystical forces surrounding the chosen line have become irrevocably altered, become unstable, vulnerable.
ANYA
Something The First did?
BELJOXA'S EYE
The First Evil did not cause the disruption, only seized upon it to extinguish the lives of the chosen forever.
GILES
Then what has caused the disruption? What"”what is responsible for letting this happen?
BELJOXA'S EYE
The slayer.
So there is a disruption in the chosen line, ie the slayer line and it has been unstable and vunerable and the slayer is the cause. Note please that it doesn't say which slayer, the next quote just assumes it means Buffy and that maybe logical but by NO means stated, Faith's incarceration however unlikely could have caused it, or her turn to the Dark Side, please also note that since the First Evil is for all intents and purposes timeless the line 'The opportunity has only recently presented itself.' While not meaningless can be interpreted to mean anything in the entire 7 seasons of Buffy.
Season 7 Showtime
GILES
Are you all right?
ANYA
(limping) Yeah, I just"”I don't understand how Buffy's death mucked up the whole slayer mojo. You know, it's not like she hasn't died before.
GILES
It's not because she died. The Beljoxa's Eye was quite clear about that in its enigmatic way. It's because she lives. Again. Buffy's not responsible for that.
ANYA
Oh. Oh. Willow and me and Xander and Tara. We're the ones who brought Buffy back. We're"”we're the reason The First is here, the reason those girls were murdered. No, it's our fault. The would would've been better off if Buffy had just stayed dead. (walks off)
Here we have Giles and Anya assuming the disruption has been caused by Buffy living again and Anya even says that it was herself, Willow, Xander and Tara who are the reason, so the spell had something to do with the slayer line being made unstable. If when resurrecting Buffy they needed the slayer portion and took it from the slayer line wouldn't that have weakened it. Anyway in Season 7 they find the Scythe, the weapon of the slayer, linked with the slayer and using it to channel magicks they activate all the potential slayers, note that Buffy and Faith didn't appear to experience any powerloss whatsoever. Now this move basically ended any weakness in the slayer line because it wasn't a line anymore, with every potential active at the same time it became a tree (I am assuming that those newly activated slayers could activate others upon their deaths). So what I am saying is nothing that either Giles or Beljoxas Eye said detracts from the statement that Buffy is not the current active slayer and so can't activate another upon her death. I am sure there are flaws in that arguement so I await someone to point them out but I am tired🙂
I need to think a little about the possible reason for the slayer line to be weakened due to Buffy's resurrection. Any ideas?
