Nicholas Brendon Arrested Yet Again...

How sad. Just saw him Tweet a picture of himself at the beach and was hoping he was out there feeling better. Guess not.

The poor man. It's so devastating to see anyone in such turmoil. I hope he one day gets the help that he needs.

Poor bloke. I really have empathy for him, he's obviously really struggling.

I wonder if there is anything that we could do as a community to help support him while he is having such a rough time with his alcoholism?

I know that people create virtual books of support, gathering messages from people and then sending it to them.

I wonder if there is something like this we can do for him?
Constantly seeing these types of things happen to Nicholas Brendon make me quite sad. He's battling so much, and I just wish that we could all be there to support him and show him how much he is loved - just so he may feel better again, and may not damage himself so much. He might need more love in his life, he might just need the help... But I feel so helpless, because I feel as soon as he gets to a point in rehab, he falls back onto it all because it didn't truly help him.

I was currently thinking of something like this as I was reading the article - along with the others. It's devastating, and I feel like he would really appreciate even a bit of hope. I vote that we do something like this 🙂

I really hope he gets back into rehab... and not "You've been in the news, so lets do damage control" rehab; get him into a proper facility with some established professionals for the long haul.
I understand that he's done a few stints before, but relapsing is a scary reality for any addict. Where's the follow up support? Where's his sponsor? It seems like they give him a bit of rest each time and then he's just thrown back out without a life jacket.

I hope he gets the help he needs, because at this rate... 🙁

PS: I should know better than to read comments on news stories like this. Nothing like the toxic, high and mighty rants of people who no f*ck all about addiction. ¬_¬

I have this from a close friend of mine who is a recovering alcoholic, so I would think that he knows more than the average citizen about the subject.

Alcoholism is an addiction, and, just like any other addiction, there is no cure. Your only hope is to put it into remission, and the only way to do that is by the addict, himself, making the decision to never, ever, go back. No amount of doctors or sponsors can stop you from sliding back, short of locking you up somewhere, because they can't be there for you 24/7. At best, they can be on call, but a lot can happen between call and response.

It's not impossible to control an addiction, hundreds of thousands of people do it every day, but the reality is that once today is over, you have to do it all over again tomorrow.

Any sort of help that we can give him, I fully agree, let's give it. Write letters, sign virtual books, pray, anything and everything that you can do, but, above all else, pray that he finds the strength to help himself.

I know that at the end of the day it has to be his choice and it's his life, but I seriously have to question how much support he's actually getting... I'm talking professional help more than moral support from friends and family. It's gotten to the point where he's fairly regularly committing crimes; now you'd think a judge under those circumstances would put him into a court appointed rehab facility. Instead they just gave him time in a cell and community service. Unless I've misunderstood what's been said, the only stints he's done in rehab have been short and voluntary. Which don't get me wrong, that's better than nothing, but perhaps considering how severe this clearly is, it needs taking up a notch or two.

Of course it does ultimately have to be his choice, but when you're addicted this severely, then put clinical depression on top of that- given the choice between sobriety and potential death; death seems like the better option. I really don't see him being in a place to genuinely make the choice to be sober anytime soon given what he's said and how he's been. So honestly, of course I'm not saying lock him up and throw away the key, he needs help and compassion... but at this stage, given how bad it's gotten, I think keeping him somewhere and making sure he doesn't kill himself (or hurt someone else) might not be that terrible an idea. Just for the moment.

This stuff with his Wife Leaving him seems to be the Catalyst this time.

I have no idea what their private life was like but the timing on her part seems.... Unfortunate to say the least.

Does anyone know when Nick first started on his Alcoholic Fall?

I doubt Nick reads or posts on this site but just in case he does....

"Nick! I have admired your Acting Skill since I was a Teen and your portrayal of Xander will always be a formative part of my Childhood that made me who I am, I truly wish you all the best in both your Career and your Personal Life." Omni

Yeah my brother had an addiction to drugs so I do know a little something about it too. I can see where Visionboy is coming from too. Stuff like this can only happen so many times before the counts step in and take further action, that way if he goes off the rails again at least they would have tried to have taken further action. This is getting really depressing and right now I don't know if I can see an end to it for him. I do think that his wife leaving might have a big part to play too. Again I just prey that he can turn things around.

I was told around season 3/4 would you believe.
"Don't know for sure but that's what I heard too."

Yeah, I'd never realised that it started to be a problem so early on in the show. I was that If It hadn't been for Whedon and co pleading his case that the powers that be had wanted to sack him. 🙁

He really needs some serious time in an in-patient facility. The stresses of being recognized and expected to behave a certain way have got to be awful, particularly when you know that the current expectation is that you will do something publicly shameful. My heart breaks for him, and I am also pissed off. It is within his ability to clean up and move on. Look at Robert Downey. Nick just needs some push, some missing link, something to help him resume control over his life.

something to help him resume control over his life.
Playing the amateur therapist I think the first thing he should do is keep away from cons. It seems like they are usually connected. Or at least the last few incidents have been.

Well to be fair I suspect what helped save RDJ was firstly the attention of Elton John (that pop video he did for him) and of course Iron Man. He adores that role and I think the respect and love he's got playing Stark has helped him no end.

I think If Nick was lucky enough to get more roles and some higher profile stuff it might help him too. The hard of course is getting them. 🙁

Hard not to carry with you the burden of everyone waiting for you to get drunk and crazy - yeah. I definitely agree - cons seem to be trigger points!

And it's a vicious circle - Downey couldn't any roles until he cleaned up his act. No one is really interested in having an unreliable lead actor.

Absolutely. The media often still treats addiction like a callous little sideshow. What humiliating thing will he do next?
You're right, if he can get away from the prying eyes, he might stand a better chance.

Yeah - it's way to easy to live down to what people expect. And trash sells. Getting off that circuit would be best for him, but most of the time actors get on the circuit to make money. Given the problems Nick has had in his personal life, I suspect whatever money he made during BTVS is long gone.

Has he had much work recently? I know he's been in Criminal Minds for a while, but he's only ever been in 2-4 episodes a season.
