Err I'm going to rant:

I'm throwing a surprise part, that was meant to be a surprise birthday party last march but I never got around to it. So I have changed it to a surprise going away party. It's for a friend of mine and her Boyfriend, but just after I had planned it and invited people I found out that it was her boyfriends last night in the country so I had to check with him if it was ok to throw it. It was, but then I felt bad that I was throwing a surprise party for his girlfriend on his last night!

So I decided to make it a surprise again, by telling my friend that her boyfriends friends where planning on taking him out to dinner. And Telling the boyfriend that the party was cancelled and we were going to dinner instead, then springing the party on them. But I got as far as telling her, when she said it was a bad idea and I should tell his friends to cancel it, cuz she thought he wouldn't want to go to dinner.

So I abandoned that and decided there was no way to make him think it was a surprise! Until tonight, when I just found out that She told her boyfriend about the surprise dinner that was "supposed" to be for him, and he thought it was the cover, but he also thinks she was told this by one of his friends, so tomorrow I can tell him that his friends are actually throwing him a dinner, and I got the plans crossed, so he will think he's going to dinner then a club, but there is no dinner!!!

Ok so it's a surprise party like an hour before he thinks it is!!

... I'm never planning anything ever again!

Agreed, the NHL needs some rationality and consistency in penalties, but I'm sure not adverse to getting rid of the stickwork. And "no-touch" icing is a necessity...someone is gonna get seriously hurt if they don't fix that one soon.

I've been advocating that the penalty system be overhauled which would improve the scoring and cut down on the stickwork...
Ice to hip 2 minutes
Hip to shoulder 4 minutes
Shoulder up 10 minutes
All penalties full time served. 3 shoulder up penalties automatic 5 game suspension. 3 more shoulder up penalties 10 games. 5 more games for every 3 shoulder up infractions. This is a career implemented system not a yearly system.
The boys would learn quick, hits would be clean and the pace would be even faster then last year.
And you sound like a Don Cherry player Mr. Knuckles, lol. How many 'pops' would you like to have with Grapes?

I'm not even sure the new rules make the game faster, higher-scoring, or more entertaining. Yeah, I know statistics back up the high scoring thing, but I get the impression a much higher percentage of goals are scored as a result of penalties. Really all you've done is add a third team - the referees.

I liked old-time Canadian hockey. I don't like this new American style.

Yeah but the 3rd team's presence will depend on how the players play. If you got a fast paced game without the clutching and grabbing and garbage hits the goals will increase during 5 on 5 hockey because the refs will put the whistle in their pocket and let them play. Just look at the playoffs last year. That was the fastest cleanest hard hitting hockey I've seen in many years. It was almost like the 2002 Olympic US/Canada gold medal game. Fast furious and clean.
My theory is increasing penalty punishment will mean the big man without the skills will be eliminated from the game and the swift skilled player will come back and dominate the game. And I truly believe this will bring back the old-time Canadian hockey you referred to N4H.
Don't get me wrong I love a good open-ice hit, especially the perfect hip-check. But the big man who clutches and grabs or hooks with the stick is what ruins the flow of the game for me.

My opinion is the clutching and grabbing, as well as the cheap shots, and dangerous stick hooks became more prevalent as a result of earlier attempts by the basketball guy (Bettman) to Americanize the game.

The stickwork has to go. Too many people get hurt, and tt is right, the hooking does ruin the game. The refs just have to be consistent, and I also agree with n4h, they have to stop being a third team...for the lameass calls. I'd say less with the delay of game for shooting the puck over the boards, and more with the 5 minute major for spearing/slashing/crosschecking. I'd be merciless on stick infractions, using the system of suspensions outlined above.

Plus why would the league want their players injured, not playing and therefore not drawing fans to the game? Remember this is the NHL not the NFL and tv revenues are oh yeah non frickn existent! So owners live for the gate.

Well, I said I liked it! I think it would work fabulously. The stumbling block would be the league...The owners of the clubs would never allow this type of system in, fearing that one or more of their "popular" (notice that does NOT mean highly-skilled) players would get a multiple game suspension. That would have a negative impact on the gate (to their way of thinking), thus they can't risk implementing the system! It is a logical, well thought out and entirely appropriate plan. Thus, the NHL will NEVER put it into place...

Yeah common sense is in short demand in this league! Just look at how they are screwing up trying to learn how to work with a salary cap when all they have to do is study the NFL teams that have had continual success working with the cap like the Pats and Steelers. Oh and who wouldn't sign a 15 year $67 million GURANTEED contract? No wonder Neil Smith quit as GM after 40 days! The most hilarious thing about that contract DiPietro signed was he kept calling Wong Mr. Wang in the press conference. $67 million and he still gets no respect, lol.

She is absolutly stunning, Personally I think she is the hottest women ever, no competition! She's looked great everything she's done, from Dark Angel to (especially) Sin City!

I used an image of her from Sin City (This one) for an Art project and had to bring it into school with me and everyone looked at it and remarked at how hot she was! Guys and Girls, The girls saying she is the only women they would be with 🙂

You know how I love Jessica Alba but I think she's behind Kristen Bell and Eliza Dushku...or then again...why choose? I say they're all equal. They should all be my girlfriend. I'd be a happy person.
