Article PETA Dubs Buffy Actress 'Jeffrey Dahmer'

If it's a "duh" then don't put the lives of the animal equal to peers of mines. I was never personally attacking you, but had distaste for the claim that "That dog is equal to You"...Really? And I never said you didn't do anything for people or that you personally do anything else for that matter. I'm talking about these organizations and groups who go over the top for a pet, but don't care about these communities filled with problems. And I've been performing charity work for about 6 yrs now and me and my company donate money towards Cancer, AIDs, Education also..so don't make it out like I'm just talking and not doing anything. I come from an environment filled with violence, AIDs, bad health, etc. Not only do I come from it but I lived it...I've watched my uncle die from AIDs along with my grandmother, aunt with heart disease and my grandfather, uncles, aunt from various Cancers along with being raised in domestic violence among other things. But yes I agree that people need to eat right and abolish these wrong food habits. Still....don't protest for Bambi but not for the People. Once again, I'm not talking specifically about You.

PS: I'm glad and moved that you work for your community....so my hat's off to you. We're likely more alike than not and just read things wrong....anyways carry on.

You have no right to tell someone how to feel. If someone protests for a Bambi as you put it over a human it's because they want to and you can't tell them that they shouldn't do it. Personally outside my family and close friends animals will always come first with me. Does that make me a bad person? No, it doesn't. I don't go spitting on kids or kicking old people, I just favour animals over most humans for my own reasons. It's how I feel and the way someone feels isn't right or wrong. You can't just change someones emotions and the way they think just because you dislike it.

People aren't more important than animals and animals aren't more important than people because there's nothing animals or humans really do that makes them important. Humans might be important to you on a personal level like animals are to me, but not to the universe. You live, you die. Everything will still go on.

Which is why Angel's quote is my fave: If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

Just my personal opinion. Some people believe in the meaning of life. That we're here for a purpose.

People can feel the way they want and live their life the way they want. As long as they're not harming or killing I see no problems.

I was never talking to you and if you love animals over people...thats fine but don't shove it down my throat. I'm glad you care more about animals than get hunted over kids that catch stray bullets every day. It may not be important to you but to someone whose seen this stuff as far back as he can remember...maybe you should think about how they feel when you say I love Bambi more than human lives. Did Cujo make the computer your on?

Mankind is above other animals because we're the only ones who could really make a difference on this planet whether for the good/bad. Only we have that intellect to make things better. By no means am I saying don't fight for the lives of animals...ofcourse everything has importance it discourages me when I see all these ads and campaigns for animals but the lives of people is only important when a goverment official, etc get killed or some random suburban girl....what about all the deaths, etc that happen in ghettos or Wars, etc. Ok I've said my 2 cents I don't need another person calling me out. 🙂

Alright... More on the original topic, that's quite inappropriate of PETA. OK, so Eliza hunts. I'm personally opposed to hunting for fun, but regardless... It's really not PETA's - or anyone's, besides Eliza herself - business, now is it?

I don't think so.

Plus, PETA obviously doesn't live in the Eastern US (lol) because if they did they would know that the deer community is insanely overpopulated which just leads to them starving to death in the winter. I'm not a huge fan of hunting but I also would rather the deer be killed and eaten than left to rot somewhere.

Lol, I agree. Of course, I also think that it's quite probable that PETA only said that to get some attention and publicity, not because they're expressing a thoughtful and developed opinion. lol

The posts started to get a little long around the fourth page; so I didn't catch them all. I'll just throw in my two cents.

With regards to hunting; I don't hunt only because I can't afford it. I have my rifles and I take them out for target practice; but if I could afford to hunt I would. Some people might have a problem with that and that's fine. I have a big problem with a lot of things other people do; but I know that as long as people aren't breaking the social contract it's none of my damn business.

I will eat what I kill; and I admit that the predatory nature of hunting is part of the allure. Human beings are animals; albeit smarter ones and therefore we still try to rationalize our own darkness and violent nature. Call me a sadist, a serial killer; whatever you like. I accept that there is a part of me that revels in destruction and death; it is attempting to completely suppress or hide that part of ourselves that has turned the majority of humanity into sniveling whiny bozos.

As far as overpopulation goes; Darwin's theory of evolution explains the problem. As humankind becomes more developed and "civilized" we strive to protect our selves. Playground equipment is made out of high grade plastic or foam to prevent injury. Automobiles can catch you with an airbag from almost any direction. The industrialization of the planet has severely lessened the threat of death in the wild or from animals.

Darwin is the common association for survival of the fittest; if you can't make it in your environment, you die; thereby elevating those still alive by virtue of your absence from the gene pool. Nowadays everyone is protected and sheltered from almost every danger. War is the only equalizer we have left; even though it's failure is astounding when you realize that most of the time we are sending many of the most capable people to fight.

Thank you for this very honest post. I don't disagree, but I'm scared of that part of myself.

Well, I'd say the point about everyone being protected already is a bit...First World-centered. It's certainly not the case in so many other parts of the world.

Hallelujah and AMEN.
As a vegetarian I detest it when people that hunt for fun, it's understandable it when it is for keeping the population down but for pleasure? Yuck. I respect Eliza less for this but that's it, PETA have a habit of taking things too far and comparing her to Jeffrey Dahmer is just stupid. They are lucky that they haven't been in trouble with the law for some of their slander.

Then again, we're talking about them and that's exactly what they want when they say things like this.

Last point is right on! They made go overboard, but they certain cause discussion.
mayfever agrees: Thank you for this very honest post. I don't disagree, but I'm scared of that part of myself.
I detest certain forms of hunting; big game or trophy hunting is pure ego trip. Paint-balling is much more effective for that.

Yeah, that's what I mean when I say industrialized. When you look at the areas of the world where the economy is non-existent or military dictatorships rule; the law of the wild still determines survival. If you look at these countries you also see that the people living there are much tougher than those living in America and western europe.

I don't delude myself into thinking that what I believe is absolutely right; but I will hold true to the belief that it is right to me.

I think somewhere in all of this we agree that people are more important than animals. I just don't think we should eat either of them. And I don't think I said "that dog is equal to you," but I might have said a dog is equal to a cow.

I'm on the west coast, in a very rural, mountainous area with plenty of deer and plenty of food. They never starve, so I don't see that.

I have never understood how thousands of deer starve EVERY year due to overpopulation. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but why does it happen EVERY year?

OTOH, where I live has seen the elimination of the grizzly bear, wolf, and decline in mountain lions and coyotes.

There are SO MANY frickin deer out there this year. They shortened the hunting season. I was driving home from work and i saw 8 different groups of deer in ten minutes.

But aside from that, there is a big difference between hunting deer and hunting endangered species. Deer hunting is a necessary evil.

Though, in my neighborhood in LA, we see coyotes all the time lol. Those things are everywhere.

I remember a couple of years ago, one of my professors (in Virginia) was arguing that they needed to throw open hunting season year-round for a couple of years because there was some nasty disease running through the deer population and they needed a good dose of survival-of-the-fittest to get rid of the weak, sick ones so they'd stop breeding more weak, sick babies. Also because there were just too darn many of them because we've nearly destroyed the big cat population in Appalachia so they don't have any natural predators left.
