President Trump

Many people assume that she had the majority because the pro-Hillary media flooded the airwaves with nonsense. On a daily basis, we'd see Hollywood types in political commercials lambasting Trump. He was subjected to an unparalleled level of character assassination and personal attacks. Nude statues in his likeness were on display in front of businesses. And this was actually allowed?!

It is an unfortunate fact that a lot of the public believes everything they see on tv. And when Hillary actually lost, not only did I point at the screen, convulsed in hysterical laughter, but her shell-shocked supporters immediately claimed he'd somehow cheated. Oh, really? Really?

With all due respect, you're "sitting" in the UK. You're an observer, not an actual participant.

That's a bit like saying if you've never acted in or directed a film you can't have opinions on them. I'm entitled to an opinion whether I live in your country or not. If you don't believe me just ask the majority of people in the US. Trump is probably the most disliked President in US history.

And many people assume that the majority of people hate Trump too. And even more people assume that those that don't hate Trump are all racist rednecks.

Well there's not much evidence to support people feeling anything different. I don't think all Trump supporters are racists. I do agree that a lot who voted for him did it as a vote against the establishment. But at the same time there is no doubt that his raise to power has given a voice to a lot of racist people. Trump has encouraged a divided country and he has done nothing to stop the hatred.

And the amusing thing is, the majority of people don't hate him. In fact, we admire his directness and ruthlessness. He has enough money of his own, so you don't see him flying to Hollywood every other week for political fundraisers...like Obama did. And his ruthlessness hasn't gotten anyone killed, unlike Hillary.

Trump supporters include every race, every gender, and every tax bracket. It's typical that Democrats want the world to think that only Jim Bob in his white hood, and chewing tobacco is the typical Trump fan.

Look, I didn’t vote for him and I don’t like him.
But the fact remains that he was voted into office fair and square, and that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. That’s the way democracy works, sometimes your guy wins and sometimes he doesn’t. The media reporting on his every stupid statement and being hysterical like the world is gonna end every day does absolutely nothing to help their cause. And I personally am sick of hearing about him every single second, and I wish he would stop feuding with rappers on Twitter and stop giving the media so much to work with.

If the majority of people don't hate a sexist and racist pig then I worry about the human race😱

Think you will find Obama was a successful businessman pre-White House too.

Well there's only two genders so I'm guessing that every President ever had supporters from both genders😛 I think its fair to say that probably far less women like Trump than Obama. The tax bracket remark has to be you're idea of a joke. Trump has convinced people that he is a alternative to the privileged elite when in fact he is one of them. His policies on money will likely only appeal to the rich.

And all of those people who SWORE that they'd move to Canada if he won....they're still here, of course. Damn it! What are they waiting for? Get. Out.

Canada doesn’t want them lol
Due to the uncertainty over NAFTA, Fiat - Chrysler closed a plant in Mexico and opened one in the US. Trump is going to claim credit for that and people are going to believe him and give him a second term. The chaos that would be introduced into the supplier chain in automotive products alone if NAFTA fails is something that may get the attention of adults in the Republican party (and Trump is not one of them) who stand to lose a lot if NAFTA disappears. Canada and Mexico already have free trade with each other through the Trans-Pacific Partnership, so we already have that agreement in place. The recent attempt initiated by Boeing to put 230% duties on the Bombardier airliners Delta wanted to buy has been overturned but left one lasting effect: instead of Canada buying F-35 fighters from the US to meet its NATO obligations, we have decided to buy used FA-18's from Australia. Take that, Trump!

As for the idea that he was a successful businessman, he stiffed a lot of his suppliers on building projects. No one in the US would lend him any more money so he went to Russia (and if it wasn't for Russia, he would never have had any wives).

Most idiotic of all, Trump is now claiming that the FBI is against him when in fact the e-mail fiasco presented by the FBI torpedoed the Clinton campaign and guaranteed him the win. Is he really that erratic or forgetful?

To be clear, I don't like Trump and if I were American, I would have held my nose and voted for Hilary. But he is the US president and he has eliminated some of the evils of political correctness such as those ads showing the candidate with his beautiful wife and 2.4 children and the Golden Retriever by his side. (Didn't we learn from Dole?) So let's see if the country can survive his presidency and his second term.

Antiquated yes, majority no. She got 42% of the vote.

Nope, proportionately she got more votes than the Tories have gotten since way back in the 1980's, she could've formed a majority government easily with Proportional representation.
But with FPTP she couldn't, and yet we don't see much in the way of whining, because that's how democracy (in the UK) works.

The thing about democracy isn't that its fair, its that its stable.

I don't think that it would come as a great surprise to anyone when I say that a lot of people, myself included, didn't as much vote for Donald Trump as we voted AGAINST Hillary Clinton. I am, in most things, a political conservative, and her ideas and values would, in my way of thinking, have taken this country in a far, far worse direction than Trump ever could, even if he got us into a war with Korea or brought about a new Ice Age tomorrow. When I voted, I picked the candidate who I considered to be the lesser of two bad choices, and I haven't changed my mind as of yet.

Having said that, I will state here and now that Donald Trump is, by God, our President, and I will support him for as long as he holds that office, just as I would have done with Hillary Clinton, if she had been lucky enough to win the majority of the electoral votes. That doesn't mean that I have to agree with everything that he says, or condone everything that he has done in the past, is doing now, or will do in the future. But I won't whine and whimper about what has been a legal victory, I won't make statements like, "I don't consider him to be a legitimate President," and I won't march in endless parades and group huggings, bewailing how "my" candidate was cheated out a victory because of a technicality or an antiquated system of counting votes.

I've got a whole lot more to say on the subject, but I'm gonna quit, anyway, because I don't want to further possibly offend any of my fellow Board members with an old man's rantings.

You would seriously rather see humanity die out in an ice age, or America get put into a nuclear war with North Korea rather than have Hilary be president? I don’t like Hilary at all, but that’s still kind of a ridiculous statement. It comes across that you dont care at all about the welfare of human beings, or the future of this country , just as long as in your last remaining years there’s a conservative in the White House.

Well there's only two genders

Oops, I think you've offended those SJW's who claim that gender is simply a social construct. I guess that makes you what? 'Trans-phobic?, But only by the standards you're judging Trump that is. 😉

Trump has convinced people that he is a alternative to the privileged elite when in fact he is one of them.

Not 'privledged elite', Washington elite. And btw its the same thing Obama did; 'I'm not part of the system' 'i will make things better' 'Hope & Change' instead of Maae America Great Again.
Surely you understand that both candidates used the same basic strategem?

His policies on money will likely only appeal to the rich.

Or all those with a small to mid-size business who've had a lot of the overly-bureaucratic nonsense slashed? Less government mis-handling means more cash for the middle guy...who also employs the little guy/gal and pays them wages.
Just saying its not as simple as you make out.

Trump has convinced people that he is a alternative to the privileged elite when in fact he is one of them.

What was Hilary? What was Obama? What are most of the Democrats in Congress? Let's stop pretending like one side are rich racists and the other are poor, giving crusaders.

Yep.

Selfish, ain't I?

No need to make this personal like this.

No need to make this personal like this.

I wasn’t trying to make anything personal. In fact I agree with a lot of what both sides are saying. I just think when you make blanket statements like the world being destroyed is better than a Democrat in office, it’s kind of ridiculous.

^ That would have been a better way to phrase what you meant. I don't think that's what he was saying. What imo he was saying was that what Hillary would have done would have been worse than those things. Which, let's face it, let's stop pretending Hillary is a good person.

Hilary is a garbage person. I never said otherwise. However, I’m honestly baffled at what Hilary could do that is worse than war or an ice age. Throwing infants into a pit? It’s those kind of shock statements that is just as bad as the left hysteria.

From an outsider's point of view I just prefer my garbage people to be full-fledged lizard people, I mean politicians. But a lot of mistakes were made all around in the 2016 election, so I don't think Hillary's loss can be really be "blamed" on anything but her own campaign and the work she put into it and the areas she chose to invest in. Why other Republican candidates didn't do better is more of a puzzle, to me at least. But I suppose it's the same as Obama really, cult of personality.

Hilary should have taken the hint in 2008 that no one wanted her as president
