President Trump

Hilary is a garbage person. I never said otherwise. However, I’m honestly baffled at what Hilary could do that is worse than war or an ice age. Throwing infants into a pit? It’s those kind of shock statements that is just as bad as the left hysteria.

And Trump isn't really going to put us in an ice age or start a nuclear war. It's hyberbole. I'm not the one making "shock statements".

I know you aren’t. I also don’t think Trump will do either of those things. I made my feelings perfectly clear on this thread earlier that this whole media hysteria about Trump is stupid and that for good or bad, he’s our President and he won fair and square. I just think that This Darth Vader Hilary idea is just as ridiculous IMO.

You say that now, but when you find out he wiped your memory for some greater good you might feel different 😉
Surely... But the thing with politics and politician is that there are always secrets, shenanigans, and the truth never really is out 🙂

I just think when you make blanket statements like the world being destroyed is better than a Democrat in office, it’s kind of ridiculous.

My objection to Hillary has nothing o do with Democrats in general, even though I disagree with the majority of what they stand for. My main objection is to Hillary, herself, and what would have happened if she had moved into the White House for another term.

What imo he was saying was that what Hillary would have done would have been worse than those things.

Far, FAR worse.

That’s fair. Honestly I feel like she should have taken the hint back in 2008.

The electoral college system is not a/the problem. If it were you would see it affecting far more elections. The Democrats lost the election, plain and simple, it had nothing at all to do with the electoral college.

That is highly inaccurate. The democratic candidate won the popular vote. The electoral college system elected the Republican candidate. Plain and simple. This is also how G.W. Bush won.
Obama won both the popular and electoral college both times.
This just happened to be a close election (not sure why). And when the elections are close the electoral college system almost always screws (for lack of a better word) the candidate who had the popular vote.

No, no, no. You absolutely cannot speak for the majority of US citizens.

What got Trump elected was the majority of everyday Americans who were sick and tired of how Obama screwed the country up. A change was needed, and people voted for something different.

It's that simple.

The majority vote was for Hillary Clinton. So yes, I can speak for all Americans because that was the statistics. That is a fact, not an opinion.
However, your statement about Obama is highly opinionated and I could not disagree more with what you have to say about him.

I'd rather not let California and New York pick my president, thanks. The electoral college is not perfect, but it's used for a reason.

Regardless, majority vote should win. That would be a true democracy. I cannot help that California & NY lean more democratic. Put Texas has a large population as well and it leans Republican.
If we just let the people pick, then there would be no controversies like what happened in the 2000 elections with Bush vs. Gore and this past election with Clinton vs. Trump.

Can I say something : Your voting system is nil. Why do you operate by states ? it would be a lot better if you just count the voices

That's what I'm sayin lol
For everyone questioning the popular vote vs. the electoral college system, here is a link:
Presidential Election Results: Donald J. Trump Wins

This shows that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, which means more people actually voted for her.
Trump won the electoral college vote.
The people of the US did not elect Trump. The electoral college did.

From an outsider's point of view I just prefer my garbage people to be full-fledged lizard people, I mean politicians. But a lot of mistakes were made all around in the 2016 election, so I don't think Hillary's loss can be really be "blamed" on anything but her own campaign and the work she put into it and the areas she chose to invest in. Why other Republican candidates didn't do better is more of a puzzle, to me at least. But I suppose it's the same as Obama really, cult of personality.
Other Republicans didn't do better, because egotistical Trump never let anyone else talk during the debates.
Even the people over the debates could not control him.

FAKE NEWS !!! ;)
That is highly inaccurate.
It's not highly inaccurate. There have been exactly 5 occasions in nearly 200 years where the popular vote winner was not elected. To say that is a problem however IS highly inaccurate. If it were happening dozens of times, it could be considered a problem. But 5 times... pfft.

The fact that it has happened 5 times, is enough for me to say it is a problem.
If Trump had won the popular vote and Hillary won the electoral college, I would say the exact same thing.
I would have just been more pleased with outcome. However, it does not make the outcome fairly earned.
And by highly inaccurate, I was referring to your statement about the Democrats losing because of votes, which is not true. The democrats lost because of the electoral college system.

But it doesn't just hang on the debates. He had a following before then, I doubt very many were convinced by the debates. I'd say that political debates are generally about preaching to the already convinced, and maybe getting a few uncertain voters to tag along. Speaking to his fanbase just happens to be Trump's strenght.

This is becoming amusing, in a very sad way. But if you believe that you speak for all Americans, go right ahead. Its "your truth." I once had an uncle who believed he was Napoleon. We tiptoed around him and he never hurt anyone, so by all means, enjoy your little delusion. 🙂

However, it's a fact that Obama spent more time popping up on tv shows and begging Hollywood for money than he did trying to run the country.

I don't recall saying that. I said they lost it. And I said the majority of the people didn't vote for Clinton, but I can't really recall where I said the Democrats lost because of votes.

The democrats lost because of the electoral college system.
You literally cannot BE president without winning the electoral college. That's not how our government works. Every president that has won, has been because of the electoral college, and everyone that has lost was because of the electoral college. Hate to burst your bubble but the people do not elect the president, the ELECToral college does.

Nope, proportionately she got more votes than the Tories have gotten since way back in the 1980's, she could've formed a majority government easily with Proportional representation.
But with FPTP she couldn't, and yet we don't see much in the way of whining, because that's how democracy (in the UK) works.

The thing about democracy isn't that its fair, its that its stable.
We should definitely move to a form of PR. It's not whining it just makes sense. It won't be perfect and will take a fair amount of work to sort out boundaries etc. but it would be better and stop us being locked in a two horse race indefinitely.

That doesn't change the fact that 42% of the turnout isn't a majority, either of the turnout or population.

Can’t we all just get along? 🙂
Why would you want to? There's numerous people I would never want to get along with... thankfully only like 10 or 12 of them are on this forum.
