I am on a number of forums and every one is a different experience. Some are very civilized (like this one), some are a little more free-wheeling about how people are treated and some are totally the wild west. By far, the most virulent one was Rockstar Supernova in 2006, the successor to the more civilized Rockstar INXS from 2005. There was this one guy, Levin, who was an extreme supporter of (eventual winner) Lukas Rossi. He would post new threads all the time such as "The Importance of the Lukas Rossi Performance" and "Lukas Rossi, King of YouTube" and would bomb all kinds of threads about other people with his love for Lukas Rossi. He would castigate anyone who supported any of the others and since I was a Storm Large supporter, I came in for a bit of abuse, so one time, I indulged myself with this post:
Levin’s (Almost) Girlfriend
Levin lives near a dance hall, but he rarely goes there since he has become well-known to the girls who are regulars there, and they can’t stand him. But he checks it out every once in a while for new girls and one night, a new girl arrived on the same night Levin decided to go there. But this girl was a real Amazon, pretty, but six feet tall with muscles like a lumberjack.
One of the girls at the dance hall took a look at her and said to her girlfriend who was also there, “I’ve seen her before – isn’t she a roller derby queen?”
Her friend said, “I thought she was a wrestler.”
Then they saw Levin walking up toward her. One girl said, “Maybe we should warn him – she is not someone you want to annoy.”
Her friend said, “But it’s Levin – let nature take its course. If she likes him, that gets him out of here. If she doesn’t…” They looked at each other with evil grins.
To their surprise, the Amazon left with Levin. He asked her to go home with him. On the way home, she said, “You know, I’m a wrestler.”
Levin said, “Yeah, but you wrestle girls. How hard can that be?”
The girl said, “I think you’d get a real education if you fought me.” She wasn’t expecting him to take her up on it, but Levin gave her a punch to the arm. She was surprised to think anyone would be stupid enough to start a fight with her, so she punched him back with a blow that bruised one of his ribs and knocked the wind out of him.
She said, “Your arm muscles are like overcooked spaghetti. I could flatten you if I wanted and you couldn’t hurt me.”
Levin was enraged. This… this girl was saying she was stronger than him! They happened to be walking by a road construction site where a truck was dumping hot tar on the asphalt, so he caught her off guard and tripped her right onto the street and she landed in hot tar that burned her hands. She lost it. Levin started running away. “What kind of moron are you?” she said as she caught up to Levin, flattened him down on the sidewalk. “You couldn’t hurt me in a fair fight, so this is what you do?” She had Levin crumpled up in a ball so he couldn’t move. “I want you to apologize!”
Levin said, “Don’t hurt me – I’m sorry I punched you.”
She said, “I don’t care about you punching me – I hardly felt it. I want you to apologize for burning me – the punch didn’t hurt, but tar did. So say it – say you’re sorry tar did.”
Levin said, “I am sorry tar did.”
The Amazon said, “Say it three times fast.”
Levin said, “I am sorry tar did! I am sorry tar did. I am so retarded!”
The Amazon let him up and he was never seen in that dance hall again.
His only reply was, "Dance Hall, what are you, eighty years old?" No, I just happened to be listening to Dance Hall Days by Wang Chung and there are nightclubs with "Dance Hall" in their name. Everyone else on the board congratulated me for getting the best of him but I haven't felt the need since to get back at anyone. The forum continued to get worse with accusations flying around all over. One poster had said that one guy (who lives eight miles west of Toronto and six miles west of me) was having an affair with another poster who was a single mother from Aukland NZ. Possible? Not even remotely. You would check a thread that was five pages long one night and it would be two pages long the next night because the mods were terrified that they could get drawn into slander ripped most of the thread out. Finally a bunch of people started an invitation-only board (which I was invited into and joined) where each person had to be agreed by the membership to be non-abusive. Good times! For some of us.
Yeah, everyone was surprised that Dilana Robichaud didn't get the gig. But I met Storm on a couple of occasions - very nice girl with talent to spare and a great sense of humour.
