I loved this movie. Can't believe I'd never seen it before. The cinematography was incredible! I really enjoyed how philosophical it was, and I'm still pondering the meaning of it.

Didn't love it didn't hate it. It was mildly entertaining but not a movie I ever need to watch again.

It was fun and had a good pace. Left me with two pretty big questions though, so I wish the ending had been better.
The Count of Monte Christo - 5/5
Great new version, almost three hours long so a bit daunting at first, but the story really needs it. I love this story, one of the best revenge narratives out there, and this one told it beautifully. Also, fantastic cinematography and great actors.

Brawl In Cell Block 99 (2017) 9/10 Brilliant, brutal and tragic. I'll never view Vince Vaughn the same way again. Marc Blucas appears as a side-character and well, he aged very well.

Even the good acting of Carie Kawa can't save this doze of a movie. IMDB rates it at 5.7/10 but that is generous. It is the story of an alien who came back to retrieve an object she gave to Clive (Carie's character) 25 years earlier while she is rebuilding a roadside motel into an artists' retreat.

Until Dawn (2025) 4/10 Interesting idea- that had little to do with the video game- squandered with shallow execution and characterization. The plot made zero sense. It felt both too slow and very rushed towards the end Probably would've been better as a (better written) television show.

The Dark Tower (2017) - 7/10
Even if IMDB only gives it 5.6/10, it is better than that. It is the story of a boy who is a seer who draws pictures and dreams of a Satanic being called the man in black looking to take over the world. He meets a gunslinger who also wants this Satanic being destroyed before he uses the boy to destroy the dark tower that keeps the satanic dimension and earth separate.

Took me long enough to finally watch this. I enjoyed it! I knew there were a few Whedon alumni in it, but I honestly had no idea how many.

Nobody Will Believe You (2021) - 5/10
One of those Hallmark-esque films except it's all about murder and mystery and a little bit of sex. Teen Hannah (who looks the same age as her mother) starts over in a new school, complete with five different tropes that are achingly familiar by now, only to find herself stalked by a mysterious figure.
I've actually seen a surprising number of these types of films in the last few years and can therefore say with a fair amount of confidence that...it wasn't that bad. The acting was sometimes decent, they had one twist that actually surprised me, and the director could break out into something bigger in five years because there were a lot of shots that could've been from a more expensive film. But, the bad outweighed the decent, unfortunately, and so I leave you with this headscratcher.
