Civil War (2024) - 8/10

A film that really stays with you and a very scary premise right now, given the state of things in the US. Kirsten Dunst is great as always and the supporting cast is also good. It's also a visually beautiful film, despite the horror it's depicting. Fantastic cinematography. Can understand why the film was so highly praised when released.

I've not watched that film as of yet, but I just wanted to say Amy Adams is such a great actor!

I really enjoyed the story too and looked it up after, I think she played the character well, meek but just.

One of the better recent Burton films IMO
@NotASlayer I'm guessing yeah, its actually packed with film references. One of my cheesy Bond girl names too 😀

I watched a YouTube video recently in which it showed that the previous Bond film had "Bond will return in..." and it was a different film to Moonraker listed. And there are so many cheesy Bond girl names!
Final Destination Bloodlines - 7/10

Found this to be the best sequel since the second film. Really liked the way they played with the premise and poked fun at the franchise. The death scenes were mostly fun (the MRI scene was a particularly fun bit of black humour). And Tony Todd's final film appearance was *chef's kiss* just a beautiful send-off for the actor and I really liked the way they worked his character deeper into the lore of the franchise. The main character could have used a little more oomph but overall this was a really enjoyable instalment.

Actually didn't mind some of the added mythology this time. Yeah the lead character was a bit bland for me.
The Cottage (2008) - 9/10
How had I never heard of this before? Like, I get not seeing it, but not a peep? With Andy Serkis as a main character? Anyway, brilliant black comedy, literally by the end I only had two (minor) gripes but the rest I loved, from the directing, to the writing, to the acting from pretty much all the main cast. Definitely going on my future rewatch list. Laughed out loud several times and reminded me how fun it is to watch a good comedy, a genre I tend not to put on too often.
 
Devotion (2022) - 7/10

This is the story of Jesse Brown, the first black Navy pilot in the US who gets shot down over Korea. IMDB gave this a 6.6 and it does seem a bit slow in parts and has more relationship angst and too little combat than you want in a war movie.
 
Time Cut 5/10

A time travelling slasher film that turned out to be far too predictable, so much so that when the twist came I was disappointed to confirm I had guessed the killer, why they hadn't been caught, their motivation and a secret being kept by at least one character correctly early on. Also, it looks like they dropped the timey-wimey ball, as it looked like they were using the many worlds interpretation but some elements only worked with the Copenhagen interpretation (I read a lot of SF, okay? 😀). I think Deja Vu had the same problem.
 
(Rewatch) The Bob's Burgers Movie (2022) - 8/10
Love this movie (and the show is a constant favorite) and I think this was, like, my fourth or fifth time watching it 😀

@HowiMetdaSlayer how dare you!☺️ FG is a childhood fave of my which is still such a blast. The Queen soundtrack alone make it fun😄 I still maintain that casting a hunky, boneheaded American footballer was a master stroke😆 Then you have those cool practical sets!🔥🔥💯💯

From what I hear, Flash Gordon has always been viewed more positively here than in, well, everywhere else!

The Man from Toronto - 6/10

The name caught my attention since I grew up in Toronto and I still live two miles west of Toronto. In this story, the man in question is a contract killer and torturer for hire who is sent to kill or extract information from people and his methods are quite horrific. Somewhere along the way, a black guy who is a total screw-up is mistaken for him and the two end up working together. Good, but predictable.
 
The Old Guard (2020) - 7.5/10

A fun wacky twist on an old formula. The cast keep it very watchable. Looking forward to the sequel this week.

I liked this one, would rate it the same. I didnt know what to expect but I am happy to see more of it as well!
I've just finished watching the dvd series A Discovery of Witches, it was seriously confusing tale which I'd rate it as a 1 out of 10. Mainly because some of the characters were not nice to watch. When will the directors learn how to get the bad guys to be interesting to watch and not just annoying sh. . . . its.
