I didn't like this quite as much as the series, although it was very interesting to see the events leading up the the series. However, I was slightly disappointed when the complete focus shifted to Laura. I would have liked to see Cooper investigate the other cases, and what happened to him and Windom Earle, which I thought would be the focus of this film. I also like that it was a lot darker and more disturbing than the series.

Lost Highway - 7/10
One of the weirdest films I have ever seen. And I like it. My rating is only preliminary, because I honestly have to watch this film again to really say how much I liked it.

FWWM gets better the more I see it. Its totally weird and ****ed up, and bits of it make little sense, but once again the darkness, and stylistic aspects which push the limits. As disturbing as it is I love the scene in club with the full on rocker billy blues number which just carries on on a constant loop. The confusion of this scene is just so powerful. I love the end scene also, something oddly relaxing about it when you reliese that Laura can finally be at peace. And I don't know what you think but I actually think the actress who played Donna here does a better job than Lara Flynn Boyle in the TV show? I really got into the relationship with her and Laura. I like LFB but feel she is better when playing nasty, stuck up characters.

Yeah do watch Lost Highway again it has a lot too it the more you see it. Sometimes I think it is one of Lynch's best films and others not so much. The soundtrack is awesome.

The Lost Highway soundtrack was definitely awesome. I was surprised and amazed to hear Rammstein. Definitely my favorite band from my country.

Eraserhead was the first David Lynch movie I ever saw when I was about 13. I just remember being like "What the f**k?!" haha. I get a lot more of it now. The baby still creeps me out, and the little chickens, ick! haha.

I agree. I did a Twin Peaks rewatch a few months back ending with FWWM. It was only the second time I have watched it. The first time I was really disappointed, I liked it so much better this time around. I also think the girl who played Donna was better than LFB.....maybe because I just don't like Lara. I definitely enjoyed the character better in FWWM than in the series, Donna and James were so incredibly boring to me on the show.

I'm getting increasingly excited/nervous about the up coming season 3. It better be good or I'm gonna be pissed!

I'm on a Norman Reedus kick at the moment, so.....

Gossip: I remember this movie from when I was a kid. It reminds me that I use to love Kate Hudson. Man, she just hasn't done anything that lives up to Almost Famous yet has she? Its a shame. The only other movie of her's that I liked is Skeleton Key. Anyways, Its a pretty damn average movie really, but watchable 6/10

The Boondock Saints: Honestly, I don't know how I feel about this movie. I sorta like it but mostly it just doesn't sit will with me. I do love Willem Dafoe in it, though 🙂 7/10

Going to watch the second Boondocks now, the only thing I remember about it is Julie Benz is in it 🙂

Stolen, didn't expect much from it as I' not a Nicholas Cage fan, and so I wasn't disappointed by the film, it lacked any real action and the plot wasn't very compelling either.

Have you seens that MTV film 100 Cigarettes which Hudson was in? Think it got bad reviews at the time, but I kind of liked it, Christina Ricci was also in it I think. I liked Skeleton Key.

Oh right, I completely forgot about 100 Cigarettes! Its been ages since I have seen it, but I do remember I liked it 🙂 Yeah, I remember Skeleton Key came out around the time of all the Japanese remake movies. I found it so refreshing at the time to watch a horror movie that wasn't about a creepy long haired girl, haha.
 
Secrets of the Code 3/10
It's a documentary about the 'secrets' behind the book the Da Vinci code. I thought it might be interesting, though most of it was old news. It might have been more interesting hadn't it been for the fact that they have found absolutely the most obnoxious people to interview on the subject. Especially this Leonardo Da Vinci fan woman and her cronie, I'm pretty sure my version of hell would be being stuck with her in a room for eternity.

The movie gains for me two entire points due the hilariously awkward/clueless Catholic priest who makes a valid point in Brown's inflated numbers in regards to witch burnings but then tries to justify the Spanish inquisition starting out by saying that it did bad things "but..." he suggests that people actually preferred to be interrogated by them... the clear implication is that he thinks the inquisition did good. I thought I was going to choke on my own laughter when he actually said; "for some reason it's gotten quite the bad name" ... yes, for some reason the Spanish Inquisition got a bad name... oh gees... I don't think he intended it quite as harshly as it came out but haha, I'll be laughing about that for a week.

Monty Python gave the Spanish Inquisition a pretty good name. ;)
The Scribbler: 8/10

It had poor reviews, but I kind of loved it. I love the dark graphic novel type feel to it, it is filmed almost as thought it was a comic book, very reminiscent of movies like Watchmen and SuckerPunch, Seems like it's not a popular genre, but I love it. And ED and MT, Buffy reunion! Both were really good in their roles.

At first I thought this might be based on a Canadian book of the same name that I read years ago, than I read the description of the movie. Yup, definitely not the same, but can I saw...wtf? If the film is as odd, which sounds like it is, as the description, it must be a very, very weird film. I am intrigued.

Lost Highway is definitely interesting, to say the least. I'd definitely recommend it, although I need to watch it again myself.
A Nightmare on Elm Street - 7/10
Still awesome. And I'm surprised how well made and convincing the scenes are despite its age. I've seen modern films with worse effects and stunts. And the concept is still creepy and amazing to think about. Don't fall asleep.
 
The Imitation Game - 7/10
So this was finally released in my country. I liked it quite a lot, and, unlike some, don't really mind historical inaccuracies in cinematic portrayals of true stories, as long as they don't completely change important details. To me, it's more about telling an emotional or intense story, which they definitely achieved. The score by Alexandre Desplat is great and the ending was very touching.

The Usual Suspects - 9/10
One of my all-time favorites. Always a blast. I love every second.

I tried to watch that last night and I had to turn it off after about 10 minutes. I suspect I had it figured out and it wasn't really doing much for me. I think they WANTED it to look visually remarkable, but it just looked like a cheap imitation of other movies stylistically.

I thought it visually looked good. For the small budget they had, I thought it was impressive. I will take hundred of movies with that cheap look over the CGI heavy blockbusters flooding our screens at the moment.

There are plenty of shows with small budgets, but they dont have to try to emulate the look and feel of other movies

I loved this movie. I was totally invested in it from start to finish. It was beautifully shot and very well done. A story about a man's life unravelling in the span of two hours.

I've just come back from the cinema and wanted to comment on the film but I don't think it's fair for me to put a number on it. It was my partners choice of film and it's just not for me. It's a couple of hours of misery. If I wanted that I could go to work or watch the news.
 
I've not seen The Rover, and yes, Triple Nine should be really fun. Great cast. I just wish that rumored team-up of Nick Cave writing and Hillcoat directing would have made The Crow as they were talking about doing. That would have been a really deep, deep movie I think. It would certainly turn alot of people off.. which is probably why they moved on.. but it would have been an existential nightmare as seen through the lens of Hillcoat. I would have loved it. But I like Begotten, so.. whatever.
 
Birdman - 9/10
I don't give out max ratings (cuz whats a perfect movie) but damn this movie is AWESOME. And a masterpiece. Seriously I understand why this movie was given so many Oscars. The camera work, the writing, the directing, the acting. Everything. There were like 20 minute long shots with so much happening. I just imagine all the little puzzle pieces that has to fit, or they'd have to redo the entire scene. Some of them lasted for 30 min or more. Amazing. I'm still a bit fazed out but damn...gonna buy this when it's released.
 
My Norman Reedus kick ended with John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns done for the Masters of Horror series. Average short little movie. Some nice gross stuff in there and the story is interesting enough though. Oh, and that poor Angel, that makes me really sad - 6/10

I was going through the dvd extras and there is a little John Carpenter documentary on there which has put me in the mood for a Carpenter marathon of sorts.

John Carpenter's Vampires - This is only the second time I have watched this....my reaction is still "meh". Its not horrible but nowhere near his best work. Sheryl Lee is good in it. 6/10

Escape from L.A - I love this movie. I actually like it better than Escape from New York. Its basically the same damn plot, but I remember LA so vividly from when I was a kid, I saw this one before NY, so weirdly NY was the one that seemed recycled to me. I love the ridiculousness of it....the surfing scene?! Haha! Kurt Russell is awesome. 8/10

In the Mouth of Madness - This use to scare the hell out of me when I was little. It doesn't as much anymore but I still get all weirded out when I see someone riding a bike at night because of this movie....its creepy! Haha. And I love the story, the whole idea of what would happen if the insane became the majority - 8/10
