Magic Mike: 7/10.
So yeah I watched this and was left with the overwhelming urge to do lots of crunches afterwards. 😛
All-in-all this was okay, the dance scenes where pretty darn impressive even for me and this is probably Channing Tatum's best film performance yet. It is kinda shallow and unoriginal as a film though- the conclusion that it comes to is that apparently male stripping isn't something you should make a career out of. Shocking. 😉
It was an ok movie. I mean, being shallow the male strippers were hot and all, but I didn't really care about Mike's story, and especially the sister. She was bad, and they had no chemistry, and I just didn't care whether or not they get together. But it was interesting to see this world of male stripping. I am actually really surprised by how many men have seen this movie. lol.

Yeah, the sister was TERRIBLE. Just this expressionless...I couldn't ever get a bead on her character or what she was trying to convey. All the male strippers apart from Mike and Dallas (MM was great but then he usual is these days) were really one-note parts.
There weren't really any other prominent female characters apart from the sister, who I couldn't stand. I just didn't care about their relationship at all.

I just heard that this is getting a sequel. I have to say I can't see any of the reasoning, apart from the obvious that is. 😀

I also didn't like the ending. The first time I was like "that's it?" It just ends, nothing really resolved.

But don't you think that is because those characters are really shallow in real life? I mean I can't really think there would be a great deal of depth to them, could be wrong😉

@thetopher Very good sir!😀 The sequel doesn't really appeal I don't know what else they can do with the story.

That's a fair point. Although it looks like they've get uh, bigger parts in the sequel. ;)

I thought the movie had a terrible script but, you know, eye candy. 50 shades of Grey could learn something from Magic Mike lol

Amen.

Haha, I had to fast forward through the first Magic Mike, not even eye-candy could save that mess, so I'll skip XXL... or so I thought until I saw that Hot Dog version! Thank you internet, Magic Mike BBQ seems worth my while 😀

Terminator Genisys 8.5/10

I think that they went a little bit overboard with the destruction, but I guess it's just that kind of movie. Arnold as Sarah Connor's "Pop" took some getting used to, and the tendency to compare this one with the original was inevitable, but I think that the potential for a good reboot for the franchise is there. I would like to see some flashbacks of Sarah being raised and trained by the Terminator in the second movie, and I think the "star crossed lovers, forbidden to consummate their love because of the dire consequences" thing has been done enough already.

Mad Max: Fury Road... 10 out of 10. A masterpiece and an Oscar Contender.
I don't remember leaving the movie theater so satisfied... AWESOME MOVIE.

I still get goosebumps thinking about the movie, it was such a fantastic piece of art.
Well don't think its the sort film which wins Oscars. It did impress me but I would go as far as to call it a masterpiece Tom Hardy lets it down a bit.

I don't think it is going to win Best movie, but I can see 5 to 7 Oscar Nominations... We will come back to this interaction in the future @MrTrick

I don't see it b-movies even ones with sort of budget don't tend to do too well at the Oscars. It could get some techical nods if anything.

Mr. Trick... Have you seen the movie yet? If not I invite you to do so. If you consider it after you have seen it still a B-Movie... Well, I will respect your point of view. At least I invite you to listen to the OST Brothers in Arms. Just to get the feeling of the film
But @Fuffy Baith makes an excellent point. Maybe the movie is not for everyone. Movies are al subjective. While I find Man of Steel Awesome... 5o percent of the audience hated it. Our tastes are different. That doesn't mean movies are extremely good or god awful. They are that. Movies.

I have seen it, and i don't think it's as great as everyone says, but movies are all subjective. It looked great sure but a lot of movies look great, that's not what makes something a great movie.

Yea I'm not saying it was a bad movie, just not for me. I'm not an action movie person, I felt like there wasn't a whole lot of story to it, or it just didn't work for me. I did think the villain looked creepy as F***, seriously scares me with that face. I also have not seen any of the other Mad Max movies, so this one just didn't make me feel anything for Max.

Well if its not b-movie its at least a trash movie, but the two genres are often connected. I know there is a lot more going on with the plot but it is basically a b-picture on a grand scale, don't forget a lot of Tarantino films are considered such and they certainly are not made on the cheap.

@Fuffy Baith I think the film really does push things visually though I can't remember many films which have looked so good, but you are right that alone is not enough to justify a two hour movie, but that is where we disagree because you think it is just an movie which looks great but is empty, whereas I think there is a lot going on with the gender politics and that female characters are actually the strongest in the movie. But I some people are still going over the top of it, one friend of mine has seen it twice and thinks it is the best film he has EVER!! seen. Its not that good😉 And some people think its a masterpiece. Its not that good either😉 Its not even the best film of the year so far, Wild, Inherent Vice, White God.... But it is a very good 8/10 IMO🙂

It's by far personal best film of the year :P I've seen it 3x already

LMAO! Does that mean that I, who think he's just... I mean I had to fast forward through this movie because no amount of dancing or abs could make up for script and acting..., does that mean that I should probably keep avoiding his other performances? 😉

It Follows (2/10)

This got 5 stars from pretty much everything I looked at. I was so bored that I nearly cheered when the credits rolled; not because it was good, but because I could go and do my supervision report, which seemed exciting in comparison. It gets 2 only for its score and fairly creepy locations.

Oh I think that is harsh. It is overated I agree, but it was well designed and atmospheric and the lead actress was good too I think.
