I've had a lot of bad experiences with people, and therefore I think it is difficult for me to respect them before they have done something that shows they're worth respecting. I mean, a large bunch of people I've met so far didn't respect me, or took me like I am, so just to be sure, I'm careful. I mean, I am a rather open-minded person, and respect for me has nothing to do with objective factors like ethnicity, political ideas (to a certain extent, that is), sexual orientation, which country you're from or what you would do with your money if you won a million in a lottery. I mean, I'd find it stupid if you had a million and wouldn't even give 10 Euro to a charity or when you voted some reactionary, racist bastard into parliament, but those things are totally up to that person, and choices other people should respect. Whether I respect a person is based entirely on whether I like that person and whether that person treats me (and other people) in a respectful manner.
