My list:

The Strain (Didn't finish the pilot because of the cliche infested... everything)
Scorpion (Didn't finish the pilot because of the sheer stupidness)
Eureka (Stopped watching after 2 episodes)
The Leftovers (Stopped watching after 5 episodes)
Leverage (Stopped watching after 3 episodes)
The Man in the High Castle (Stopped watching after 2 episodes)
The Flash (Stopped watching after the pilot because of the blandness/non-plottyness)
Arrow (Stopped watching after 4 episodes)
Young Justice (Stopped watching after 6 episodes)
Misfits (Stopped watching after S1. Mainly because of I was annoyed by half of the characters)
Game of Thrones (Finished that stupid S5, had zero interest in watching S6)

Did some of them get better afterwards? Am I missing something good by giving up all of them?

Misfits got a lot better because they keep on swapping out the characters.

love Leverage, think we had a thread about it at one point
So many I'm having to look up shows on IMDB to refresh my memory....

The Walking Dead after S2
Arrow after S2
The Flash after 2 episodes
Once Upon A Time after the first episode
The 100 after the first episode
Gotham after 2 episodes
Homeland (never finished the latest season)
Agents of Shield after the second part of S3 (I keep meaning to get back to it though, I hear its gotten good)
Parks and Recreation (but I'm watching it on DVD and stopped after S1 as I couldn't get the S2 DVD)
Lost after S1
True Detective after S1
Scandal after midway S2
True Blood after S1, but then I saw bits of the final season just to see how mental it'd become
Empire midway through S1

The Vampire Diaries. (although I'm curious what it's like without Elena)

SPN. (I got to season 5 I think when Dean had to become a vessel. They lost me with all the angel/demon/God/destiny stuff)

True Blood. (Maybe ill get around to finishing the last season)

Game of Thrones. (Wasn't able to keep up with the latest season time wise, and just don't miss it at all. Don't know if I'll ever finish)

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Only watched 1/2 of the first season)

Breaking Bad. (They are all assholes and I got tired of watching them so I didn't watch the last season)

Supernatural was one I tried hard to get into but just didn't get it. I think I watched about half of the first season. I found it fairly dull. 😱

Game of Thrones (Finished that stupid S5, had zero interest in watching S6)

Game of Thrones is still awesome and I bet you'll be missing out if you give up now!

Once Upon A Time after the first episode
Gotham after 2 episodes
Agents of Shield after the second part of S3 (I keep meaning to get back to it though, I hear its gotten good)
Scandal after midway S2
I started all of these as well. Once Upon a Time I fell asleep during episode one and never felt the need to try again. Gotham I got 2 or 3 episodes in but was having a bit of trouble sourcing it. I might give it another when I have time. AoS I gave up after a few episodes in Season 2. The first season was dire for about 3/4 then got better at the end. So when the second season started slow I just couldn't be bothered. My girlfriend wanted to watch Scandal and loved it. I thought it was dreadful and gave up after an episode or 2. Really awful characters and no real entertainment for me.

Some originals:

Zoo - I got 5 or 6 episodes in before calling it a day. The dialogue and the characters were really flat. I thought the plot might have some promise but I lost interest.

Supernatural - Loved the first season, maybe the second. Then it moved channel and I lost track of it. The direction changed a bit too if I remember right.

24 - Again loved the first season. Then the channel moved etc.

24.
The Newsroom.
Fringe.
The Shield.
How I Met Your Mother.
Smallville.
Shameless.
30 Rock.

Bones (season 1-3 awesome, then it just became a relationship drama, zzzz....)
True Blood (I think I saw up to season 4... or maybe it was just 3, can't remember. I didn't plan to stop watching, it just kind of happened)
The Vampire Diaries (because I was all eager to see season 4 then I kind of forgot about it...)
Homeland (forced myself through season 2 for my aunt's sake. No more.)
Vikings (not bad, just didn't engage me enough and also one character annoyed me greatly. Might re-visit!)
Pretty Little Liars (got hooked when they showed it on Sunday's in marathon runs, hungover TV, lol. Then I stopped paying for cable and just wasn't interested enough to keep going after... season 2 maybe?)

I'm sure there are more. Bones and Homeland are the only ones I can think about that I actively stopped watching, (ok SPN too after half of season 7, but I got back into that later) the other ones I just kind of forgot/didn't engage me enough to keep them in my mind.

vellavu you should give Arrow and Young Justice another try 🙂

Gave up on True Detective, Bones, Castle, Hawaii 50, Blue Bloods, NCIS regular and LA, How I Met Your Mother, SHIELD, Lost, True Blood, Heroes, Fringe, The. Muppets, CSI, Alias, The X Files (original)

This was actually my new year's resolution lol

So I have given up Once Upon A Time, Supergirl, Chicago Fire, Grimm, The Magicians, Shadowhunters, Scream Queens, Scream, and. Fear The Walking Dead so far.

And I'm considering giving up The Walking Dead (at least until JDM makes an appearance), Sleepy Hollow, Lost Girl.

Giving up TV shows was your resolution?
I hate having to give up on shows but sometimes they are just not good

Battlestar Galactica-Really loved the first 2 seasons, gave up on the 2d ep of s3. I'd like to finish it someday
Scream Queens-By ep 5 I just couldn't take it anymore. The characters were so stupid.
Fringe-Not sure why but for some reason I stopped watching at the end of s4
Bones-I love Bones but they've dragged it out too long, I watched the first ep of s10 they I gave up cause I didn't like what happened
Agents of SHIELD- I barely watched the beginning of s2 but gave up in the mid finale break. It just was no longer about the agents of SHIELD and I can't watch "the Skye show".
Supernatural-After s5, I don't really like all the angels and demons stuff to begin with. The overall plots I find boring.

The Man in the High Castle (Stopped watching after 2 episodes)
I made it to episode 6! I plan to finish it, just taking a break.

Re: Supergirl I will rewatch the crossover ep with The Flash, so it will have that chance to bribe me back 🙂
Oh I'm soo excited for this!!! I love The Flash!

Last season of Fringe is short, so maybe watch it just to see how it resolves?
I don't really give up on shows... I watch them with less and less concentration instead. lol

There are a bunch of shows that I only watched one or two episodes off.
But that's not giving up. That's not starting imho.

/SK

See that's what I usually do, I watch shows I hate because I've watched them from the beginning lol

brinkster130: Giving up TV shows was your resolution?

Yes, giving up shows I don't really like. Because I keep watching shows even though I really don't care about them, and then I get a huge backlog of shows on my tiVo which is stressful.

Yeah, I really should stop watching some shows.
Must admit that it's pretty pointless and a waste of time to do what I do.

Eureka (Stopped watching after 2 episodes)
Oh, wait didn't see this at first. Eureka is an all-time favorite of mine. I love that show.
Not sure if it's much point if you didn't like it from the beginning though.

/SK

One Tree Hill-quit after Lucas and Peyton left, that was the last straw, but I wanted to quit as soon as they did the time jump. I think perhaps it's just that I had grown up and the show no longer appealed to me.

American Horror Story-Loved Murder House and Asylum. I made it through 8 ep of Coven and had to give up, I hated it. Gave it another try for Freak Show, once again had to quit after maybe 8 episodes.

Misfits- Once the original crew left, I stopped watching, couldn't stand the new guys.

Supernatural-quit around s5, just lost interest.

The Walking Dead-saw maybe 1.5 seasons (I think s2, and s4), I just couldn't really get into it. It would be something I'd watched when I'm really bored or when I have nothing to do, which is not very often nowadays/

Bates Motel-quit after s1, it's not a bad show at all, but it didn't really keep me invested in it. I would like to give it another try though.

As for a special mention,

The 100-Anyone that has quit this show after ep 1 should really give it a try again, at least until half way through s1. I almost dropped it too because the first maybe 3-4 ep were just teenage angst, but I'm glad I didn't, the show does get exponentially better. It's a bit like Dollhouse, once you enter the story, from then on it's really good stuff. That being said, there are two thing that have temporarily made me stop watching the show. One, the Bellamy/Clarke shippers completely ruined the fandom for me, if I watch this show I need to stay away from any show discussion because I can't stand a large part of the fandom. Two, I am waiting for the season to be over so that I know all the spoilers, I'm too worried they'll pull a Joss Whedon here, and I can't take that!

It was alright until the main ship landed and the adults became subservient to the kids. It seemed really impractical. It had such as Lord of the Flies feel before and it was all gone when the adults arrived. I just found it absurd after that.

I found that didn't last really long, the adults aren't doing much right now. Jaha's storyline went way South, not sure what's with the Jesus stuff going on, but Abby and Kane aren't very important now. The show was never very realistic though, all these kids becoming big war heroes and leaders, but that's just what the show is.

thats my whole point.. the adults never did much.. but if it was 'real' they would have. It just didnt seem plausible they would let the kids run everything the way they did.
So... Fear The Walking Dead is another show than The Walking Dead. Lol. I thought it was the same thing.

That's what I usually do as well... and that's why I have largerly stopped starting to watch new shows, lol.
