Some new hints about Twilight (spoilers?)

* He expects reaction to the revelation of Twilight's identity to be "Shock. Surprise. Panic. Anger. Shame. Delight. Disbelief. Take your pick (I'm not kidding)."

He doesn't necessarily expect us to be sad (because a good character has turned bad), does he?

He didn't say so, but... I wouldn't expect most of the reactions he listed to happen if it was someone we already knew as a bad guy.

We already know Buffy is going to be devastated by an unexpected and close betrayal, and presumably us along with her, but we don't know if the betrayer is Twilight himself, or someone who betrays her to him.

IMO, the possible Twilight candidates are (in approximate order of likelihood) Giles, Angel, Andrew, Oz, Spike, or some lame-ass time-travelling version of Xander. (Present!Xander is not possible).

Which of those options would inflict the highest degree of Jossian hurt and surprise on Buffy right now? Probably Giles.

Personally, I would be very disappointed if Twilight was Angel. Angel had his own show for five years where he was fighting for redemption so it would be a letdown for him to go evil after everything he has been through. It would be cool if it was Hank Summers. That would be a big shock.

It seems to me that the 'shock, surprise...' is what you would feel when you're betrayed, which definitely suggests someone that we're close to as well as Buffy.

I'd wager money now on it being Xander because that would be the biggest blow of all.

We've done Willow in season 6, we've done Angel in season 2, we won't get Giles because, well, that would actually be obvious in the estranged relationship that we see - and it would never be Spike.

Two words.

Xander-bot!

Hasn't Warren been in the comic?
Who did Warren work with?

I've thought about the 'bot possibility, but I can't think of a reason why Warren would do that. And why would he pretend to be working for his own robot? Warren is a megalomaniac... that's not his style.

I don't think a Xander bot, at least, would fool Buffy. She knows what Xander has been doing lately and that he's been accounted for, and she knows Warren is alive and trying to screw with her. Plus, Twilight's personality and mannerisms are about as far removed from Xander's as you can get.

IF Xander was Twilight, then that negates all the above because the Xander-bot could easily be the one in place of the real Xander in the Scoobies.

As for Xander-bot fooling Buffy, well thats not hard either.
Especially if Twilight/Warren had access to a Witch who could cast a spell to make it just like him.

Personally, I hope it IS Xander and that this is because he lost Anya as I've never felt he did her death justice in Chosen.

I agree. And I don't think Xander would leave the Xan-Bot with Buffy all the time. Only whenever he needs to take care of some Twlight business elsewhere. That would be cool.

Even if Warren has gotten 1000x more sophisticated at designing his robots' personalities since the Buffybot days... I don't think he ever knew Xander well enough to mimic his personality so perfectly with the programming. Even Andrew doesn't know him that well. His reaction to Renee's death was also too realistic... I don't think Warren could even understand those emotions, much less program them realistically.

It's more possible that the Andrew who's with Buffy is a bot, and the real Andrew is Twilight.

It isn't possible that Andrew be a bot and Willow not be aware of it.

Plus, Warren wouldn't take orders from Andrew the way that he takes them from Twilight in Wolves at the Gate.

It isn't possible that Andrew be a bot and Willow not be aware of it.

True, Willow's telepathic abilities should tell her if she's talking to someone who has no actual conscious thought. But the writers have conveniently forgotten that ability of Willow's before when it would spoil a plot twist or make victory too easy.

Just figured it out

want proof its xander?
ok im going with the xander bot thing.

the xander we see is the bot,
proof?
the comic where in buffy's dream xander gets his head knocked off! the dream amy is controlling... its in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd issue cant remember which!
im betting money on it!

That actually makes sense. You know Buffy is good for those prophetic dreams.

By that logic though it could also be that big demon that attacks her in that dream

well look at the conversation between amy and xander in that issue... brutally rude, but not an ordinary "i hate you evil person" conversation... theres almost an eerie form of connection or mutual something-another there.

im not sure how xander will fit tho. other than wanting his friends to finally be able to "rest".

i think we need to pay more attention to the back story, whats going on that no one seems to think is important. thats where we will find twilight.

remember, "twilight breaks before dawn" and who is closest to the (character) named dawn in season 8?
