Oh my God, I would not even begin to contain my excitement if that happens! 😀 Also, is it still unknown whether or not Buffy knew Spike was alive all this time? I'm still stumped here, lol!

She knew. 🙁 It wasn't really explained too well, but she mentions something in issue #36 about how she's sorry she hasn't been in touch but she's busy leading an army. Apparently Andrew told her? I'm not sure how she found out, but she knew.

Is that what we're suppose to take away from that line? *Sigh* Well, Joss better give them a scene or something in s9 where they discuss all this (how did Buffy find out, what it meant to her that Spike didn't contact her, etc) because I hate open ends, especially real significant ones like this one, lol!

Grr, I know! It felt like such a cop-out! I really hope they talk about their issues. What I find interesting is that immediately after Spike leaves, we see Buffy's thinking about how she's alone every night, contrasted with an image of Spike's ship flying away. Hmm...maybe a hint about Buffy's feelings for Spike?

Ooo, I like that observation. 🙂 It very well could be.

Also, there was line in there that reminded me of what Spike said to Buffy when Robin tried to kill him. Here, Buffy said, "You come after me again, you so much as look at me funny, then I will fight you." I know that's kind of like a general line, but it made me think of another Spuffy moment, lol.

I don't know whether it's out here yet. I'll just have to do some research online and find out where it's available. I'm sure I'll get it eventually. Maybe. I might just start buying them from season 9 onwards because I don't have the rest of 8.

I read it and I agree.... classic Spuffy. the snark in combination with Spike's love and true very kind words of encouragement... And I love the fact they've been meeting a lot despite not being able to *officially* meet at the apartment. As I said in the official discussion thread for this issue, I love they've got their friendship back. From friendship, things grow... but right now this friendship is what I want to see between them. It's what they need. And it's a great stepping stone for a possible romantic relationship.

I just took a tiny nap and had a dream of sometime in the future when Buffy has her own apartment and she and Spike are just sitting on the couch talking and then they start kissing and then... Spuffy sex! Damn my phone for ringing and waking me up when they got naked.

I haven't read the issue yet, but the idea that Buffy can't invite Spike into the apartment confuses me. I understand that the apartment "belongs" to Xander and Dawn, but doesn't Buffy also consider it, if only for the moment, her home as well? How is this any different from Dawn being able to invite Harmony into their home in Season 4? The place "belonged" to Buffy, but it was Dawn's home as well. Or is Buffy definitely only living there temporarily while she's looking for a place of her own? And has Spike offered to let her move into his ship? She shared her home with him in Season 7, so he could logically say that he was only returning the favor.

I think she can't invite him in because she's a guest in the apartment. It's not really her home, and she makes it clear multiple times that she's getting her own place soon. She's just sleeping on the couch, actually. Dawn, on the other hand, could invite Harmony in because she was part of the family and the Summers house was her real home. She wasn't a guest.

As for Spike offering to let her move onto his ship, that hasn't happened. 🙁 But we can dream! 😛

Anyways, I'm moving on from all this hatred. 🙂 All it does it fuel the fire in me to want to defend the character, yet it doesn't often lead to people wanting to see what we see because they are set on their own opinions.

It's been my experience that I get a lot more satisfaction from loving Spike and Spuffy then I do defending them. No one need defend what they love. We can't change anyone's minds. They are entitled to their 'ship or stance (however misguided, lol) as we are to ours. Spike is a controversial character. He's a cult character. He will go down in history as one of the most popular television characters of all time. What more could be ask for? Who cares if some people don't like him (they merely misunderstand him, we know that). For all I care, they can continue to 'ship Bangel, doomed and dysfunctional as it is.

WHEE! I am so glad to read this positive comments on the latest issue. *does happy dance* I am SO happy that Spike and Buffy have fallen back into the comfortable friendship they had in S7. Buffy is best with Spike at her side. THIS is my Spuffy; fighting side-by-side, supporting each other. Spike will ALWAYS have her back and he will NEVER leave her. This is real. This is LOVE. This is trust. Who needs romance when you have real, true friendship? They are joined forever.

(Don't get me wrong, I'd like some kissing, but hey, all in good time! 🙂

I've read the Spuffy scene in issue 40 way too many times, I have it memorized and in my dream last night, I saw it in live action. I have too much time on my hands and a brain that's just too awesome. 🙂

I'll say this; something must be wrong with your ship if all you can do is criticize and mock any other ships you see passing by.

There are some Bangels who are respectful of Spuffy and their relationship; and don't feel the need to talk down to us for shipping it. By and large though most of them seem to enjoy belittling your intelligence and or claiming you don't understand Bangel's "true love story". Oh; I do, I just liked it better when it was called Romeo and Juliet. (not much better.)

I don't believe there's anything to be gained by discussing/arguing Spuffy with Bangels. All you get is conflict; and if that's what someone is looking for, it's probably best they not be around me.

It's frustrating to wait so long to see where Buffy would go after the show was off the air. And now I understand more and more each day how Joss has tricked us all. I use to think the man was a genius; but I was young and I didn't look close enough.

During the show Joss had people like Jane Espenson and David Fury fully on board; and look what they were turning out.

Flash forward to the comic and Scott Allie has abused my teenage memories.

Joss Whedon is a guy who gets quirky ideas; and was very good at getting talented people together to pull those ideas off.

Yes; I'm pissed, but the more I look back on S8 I just don't understand how someone who is so revered for there "brilliance" and ingenuity in storytelling could create such drivel and uninspired sh!&.

Now, here would be a great idea for a fiction, if anyone has the time, talent, and inclination. Buffy finally gets her new apartment, and immediately invites Spike over for dinner, so that they can discuss what's gone on since the end of "Chosen." Doesn't even have to have mad, unrestrained, toe curling, biting, clawing, screaming sex (would be nice, but not required) Just the two of them, talking, maybe over a bottle of wine, in front of a fireplace, talking about the flaming handclasp, the "No, you don't...," and maybe what they've each been doing since then. Just a nice, friendly conversation, over several bottles of wine, and a final scene the next morning with Buffy asking Spike, "Why didn't the building fall down?" and Spike just smirking.

It's only when others criticize why we could ever love the Spuffy ship that gets me annoyed, which at times forces me to stick up for my ship; or when I feel a discussion is turning into a shipping war. This is why my sister is my favorite Bangel. She recognizes that Buffy and Spike had something beautiful. Just she likes the Bangel ship better... but to her it's not a comparison... they're two different ships that speak to two different kinds of people. And I agree with her. I'm prone to shipping wars because I have really strong opinions and it's hard for me to keep quiet. Also I dislike Bangel a lot so often I criticize the ship.... I don't criticize Bangel because I don't like it compared to Spuffy, however. It's just after watching both shows several times and seeing where both characters ended up and seeing the relationship... I don't like Bangel. It does really bother me when I come across a Bangel who won't admit Spuffy had something, it's disrespectful to us and often I feel they do that because they can't admit Buffy moved on. My sister admits the Bangel relationship ended and Buffy moved on after that... I've met a few Bangels like her and those are my kind of Bangels. Also, I do feel that the other Bangels who aren't like that, the ones who can't admit Buffy moved on, have largely contributed to my dislike for Bangel.

Exactly. Or they hint that we're somehow perverse or deranged if we like S6 Spuffy.

Your point about Joss is a good one. He's not a genius. You're right; he's just a guy who comes up with great concepts and leaves it to his team to make those ideas come alive. Television is a collaborate effort. You know that expression it takes a village to raise a child? Same goes for television. 😉
