I don't see why comments like those would make the IMDB boards 'nasty'...or is there some kind of negative attitude there?

And wouldn't you have liked to see Buffy and Spike living happily ever after in the 'burbs, having cute little vampire-human hybrid babies? I wouldn't have changed Spuffy one bit, but I can certainly see the appeal of a happy ending - the conventional kind that is, because I do consider 'Chosen' a happy ending.

Oh no, she means the board is nasty in general. That comment wasn't nasty but that board is awful. The people are so rude. They do not know the meaning of "respectfully disagree."

Oh, it's not comments like that that make IMDB nasty. I've never been on the BtVS IMDB boards, but in my experience IMDB in general is chock full of trolls and rude people. Though I'm sure there are nice ones too, they're pretty much in the minority.

I lovelovelove happy endings, don't get me wrong. The Spuffy fic I usually enjoy most is post-NFA or post-series, with Buffy and Spike reuniting, or living happily ever after in domestic bliss with the occasional apocalyptic battle. And yup, sometimes cute hybrid babies. 😛 Speaking for myself though, I know I'm just miffed when I see people hate on how everything ended in Chosen specifically. IMO, it was really well done for a bittersweet ending. (And in my personal version of canon, it only gets sweeter.) I think it's definitely possible to want a happy ending and enjoy the scene for what it was- beautiful, tragic, and powerful. Essence of Spuffy, isn't it really?

Or maybe I'm just super sensitive when people hate on that scene because it moved me so much personally, even when it's my fellow Spuffies. Eh. *shrug*

I voted! GO SPIKE! And I love the comment that said "Cavemen" and the other that said "wouldn't it be great if there was an episode of television that answered this question? OH WAIT" =]

What is DH thinking?? Not just that Spike obviously wins, but that is not a comfortable section of fandom to venture in AT ALL. Either they're asking for trouble or they're ridiculously naive. 😛
 
Why always with the fighting?

Spike drank human blood consistently up until five years ago 'verse wise. He's also maintained an active lifestyle of fighting and killing where as Angel spent much of the last century milling around aimlessly.

Spike has always been a scrapper; a good brawl is the best thing to get him *up in the morning. (*besides Buffy, giggity.)

Angelus focused on torture and mind games.

With Angel's advanced age, I would say it's about even.

If they were to wage war against each other; Angel would come out on top most likely. If they were to battle ala "Destiny" Angel would need some damn strong hair gel.

Yeah, I don't get the fighting either. When it comes down to it, those kinds of Angel vs. Spike polls is more telling of who has more fans than which character can actually kick the other's ass. Not saying anyone here is doing that! 🙂 But the majority of fandom outside of BB and a few other places is not so thoughtful. IMO, canon has established that they're pretty equal when it comes to fighting. To me, 'Destiny' mostly showed that Spike was *capable* of beating Angel, whereas before he was always seen as the second banana. (And yeah, I totally just used the phrase "second banana". I think I rocked it. 😛)

I think when it comes to Spike vs. Angel it depends on what or who they're fighting for. (One of the comments on that poll said something similar, I think?) If we're talking Buffy and her safety...no doubt, it's Spike. Totally. And as far as Season 8 goes, Spike can totally beat DH's version of Angel. But on the show and for the most part anyway...I think it still depends on the circumstances.

Just saw this; I'll make it brief to avoid going too far off topic. Basically some former filmmaking associates of mine came to my house in the afternoon and started messing up my mothers front yard. Every time I attempted to intervene; they ran away like wee little puppet men. Finally I went and grabbed my pellet gun; upon coming outside I then proceeded to start pegging them with it. Did the trick and they left; but one of my neighbors saw me and called the cops assuming it was an actual rifle.

So I was in my local shopping centre today when I saw this bloke in a big long black leather jacket, scuffed boots, jeans and a black t-shirt... I literally jumped up and down and said to my daughter, "I've always wondered what Spike would look like if you saw him at the local shops." It was very cool 🙂

This is total win.
I can't wait to have kids; anticipating the day when I'll bust out the series and show them the awesome adventures of Buffy...and her enemy/frienemy/confidante/OTL William the Bloody.

And if my kids decide that Bangel is for them; no problem...that's what military school is for...hopefully they won't come back shipping Briley...(shivers uncontrollably)...I think I need to lie down. Since joining the board I feel increasingly anxious about my lack of updating for my own fics. Hence why I can't get anything noticed.

I found it some time ago and I was like... awww ! ♥ It's a little bit different of the official version of the episode, but the way she said it there is really, really poignant.

Thank you :D And I always love that part from the shooting script. Really makes you re-examine the whole soul/no soul concept IMO.

I love that!
I love that scene from the shooting script, it means a lot to the story and all of that. And it makes it perfectly clear how Buffy feels about him. I love their relationship in Season Six, it's amazing.
 
Just wanted to make a quick post and then I need to get back to studying. 🙂

I've noticed a lot of Spike hate lately on the BB (maybe it's been there before, but I've read a bunch of it over the last week or 2). No worries though. I still love Spike and Spuffy. I just wanted to say that the other day, to get my mind clear again, I re-watched Chosen (for like the 100th time, lol). I didn't think it would be possible to love that episode more than I already did. I just started balling during that Spuffy scene (our quintessential Spuffy moment) because both characters have come so far and I just love that moment between them. 🙂

All right, better get back to studying, but just wanted to say again how much I love Spuffy and their story. 🙂

Watching Chosen is an excellent remedy for Spike/Spuffy hate!
I too love Spuffy and their story. I'm on season 7 for my later seasons re-watch and last night I watched Never Leave Me and started crying when Buffy told him he wasn't alive because of hate or pain.

Yes! There has been so much Spike/Spuffy hate and it makes me so sad. 🙁 I love this couple and the characters so much it's hard to see them bashed unmercilessly.

I've been re-reading an epic Spuffy fic and it's so good, so I'm feeling very much full of Spuffy love right now. 😀

I saw this Spike hate too... I want so much to answer to EACH point and each argument, because I know where I disagree 😛 . But with my poor English, it will take... like 10 hours for writing what I want to say 😱 Sometimes, I really wish I can speak English as well as French.

But I'll try, I hate the Spike hate 😛
 
I posted the thread because I wanted to understand... and I do now but I feel really bad for Spike haters. Like I want to hug them and tell them "It's ok, hopefully one day you'll see the beauty that is Spike."
