I have no intentions of starting such a thing... unless we get you, TK and Urgent power in.... It could be kinda fun. But that would also be one of the rules. It has to be fun. No nasty word explaining.. I'd hate that.

God, I love Spuffy as much as the rest of you but lets not go to war over it! Why not discuss the many facets of Spuffy with other Spuffies and leave the Bangels out of it? We're not going to change their minds, they're not going to change ours - It is an unwinable battle. And I don't know about you but I've been to other boards that are rendered uninhabitable because of the shipper wars. I'd hate to see that happen here.

Us Spuffies are going to war? I think that "war" is a tad too far... we don't need to fight a war when a good old fashioned debate, as heated as it may get would suffice to but those Banglers in their place..
Well, the point of the "war" is not insult each other or something like that. 😉 Because i don't like that either... but i do think it'd be nice to have an official discussion about spuffy vs bangel.

About the questions you wrote, i think that's an excellent idea. ( And i'm going to answer them but tomorrow! It's late here and tomorrow it's my first day at school :sad26: and i have to get up early and my mom is already saying that i should go to sleep.)

1. The "Angel Breath"/"Don't know what I'd have done if you'd have gone upstairs" scene in "Chosen."
2. "Wrecked" or "Dead Things"--pick a scene.. 😉

I agree with most everything you said!
..Especially the rape attempt part. That really made it hard for there to ever be a relationship btwn Buffy and Spike for season 7. I think that obv season 6 was all about the physical (and btw, im a dirty girl too..season 6, all the way!)... And season 7 was more about their friendship...which is great. But, i think that if the scene in seeing red was toned down and not a rape scene... it could have led to an even greater relationship in season 7. BUT, who knows..maybe it wouldnt have pushed Spike to go off and endure those trials to get his soul back.

War however, isn't a good thing.

Debate however is.

But I do agree that we should have a debating team to go put those deluded Banglers in their place.

Well here is the thing about the war.. It wasn't meant like "ooh let's declare war against the infidels" or something like that.. War is also a discussion

War is War, no matter how you disguise it. Discussion is a totally different animal, but I do get your point.
No there needed to be the attempt at rape. It was the clincher that made him get his soul. He was no longer evil to do that and not care, but thought he wasnt good enough and didnt love her enough that he would try it. Its fantastic writing!

I really agree.
Spike was still a vampire, and he did have the chip. BUT! Spike didn't think he was hurting Buffy, and let loose the demon inside him. Because Spike still is Spike(a little love seeking hottie) he realized his doings were wrong, and a change was needed. To be sure it would never happen again!


Yeah I guess you can call it brilliant writing 😉
 
I can't think of a single other thing that Spike could have done--without realizing until afterward what he was doing--that could have made him feel so bad that he had to go out and do something drastic--like get his soul back. So as horrible as it was, I think the attempted rape thing was necessary, too.
 
He could have accidenlty hurt a human..or Buffy (other things than rape)... BUt I see your point..
 
Do you think they should have made Spike attempt to bite Buffy rather than attempt to rape her? Why/why not?

Not if he wanted to avoid a dusty surprise.
yea, that might make some sense...since he could already hurt her w/o affecting the chip, I am sure he could have bitten her w/o pain as well... but im not sure it would have shown the patheticness, desperation and out-of-his-mindness as did the rape scene. As much as i dont like that scene, it really is a pivotal point in the story.
 
I dunno.. Rape or bite... At some point it might be the same thing... Being bitten is kinda a violation, but if you want to be bitten, it can be sensual..if you get it.

That's a very good question.

I think that the attempted rape has a lot more impact than an attempted bite would have. I mean, how many times has he tried to bite her in the past? I think that the rape would have been much more violating than biting/killing/turning her would have been, and the consequences more permanent. But, as PB just said, when it comes down to it, biting is really a metaphor for the same sort of violation that occurs during rape--an unwanted penetration of the body. I think the time for metaphors was past at this point, though, and they needed to show us just how horrible of a person Spike could be--so HE knew how horrible of a person he could be and decide to do something about it.
