The Spuffy Appreciation Thread

How do you make compatible your desire/hope for Spike and Buffy to have a future together with the fact that Buffy is mortal and any hope for the Shanshu for Spike is now gone?

(First off, the Shanshu is still up for grabs, but to go much further on that subject would get into spoilers) Now, as to the mortal/immortal status of Buffy and EITHER of her vampire boyfriends: given their current life style, with its hazards, she might very well outlive either or both of them. Here's something else to consider, though: with a Slayer's accelerated healing abilities, Buffy could very well live a life span well in excess of a normal human's and age much more slowly. Granted, there is more to aging than cumulative injuries, but they are a significant factor in what makes an old person old. It's a question that has never been either addressed or answered since no Slayer has ever lived long enough to actually grow old, but the possibility doesn't seem that far fetched to me.

As for a favorite fan fiction, Spuffy and family oriented, this is one of my favorites:

THE SPUFFY REALM :: Come on you know you wanna dance

It was written before Season 8 began, or was even announced, so it follows the scenario put forth in "The Girl In Question," with Buffy and Dawn living in Rome, and the Immortal is included in both this story and its sequel, "Keep On Moving," also available at the Spuffy Realm.

I'm checking back in a little late, here, but as a writer, the Spuffy speculation episode question sort of intrigued me. I would definitely wanna write the Buffy-finds-out-Spike-is-Re-Corporealized episode. Alternatively, I would want to write an episode that's half "Normal Again," half the one in which she hears everyone's thoughts. In it, Buffy would accidentally be "gifted" with a second sight in which she sees the other characters as they truly are (or will be). Basically, she sees their souls (or their potential souls). The episode would take place in season 5 -- shortly before Joyce's death. The point would be to see Dawn's keyness, but in the process she would learn things about all of the characters. She would see Willow's darkness, Joyce's fading life force, Riley's encroaching emptiness, and in one surprising moment, Spike's shining soul. The keyness, however, would remain utterly unfathomable (for mystical reasons that I have not yet cooked up). When asked what she saw, she'd shrug and say something dismissive, but we'd linger on a thoughtful, lingering glance (whether at Spike or Willow, I'm not sure). In the mirror, she'd see only herself (dressed in the white sweater that she wears in The Gift). The episode would hint at truths, challenges, and changes to come. The Spuffiness wouldn't be extreme; it would just be one perplexing moment in a series of perplexing moments, but it would get Buffy's brain something to chew over.

you should so write that into a fic!
First off - big, BIG, HUGE, Humongous apologies for the spoiler in the question - I typed without thinking and will not do so again!! If you haven't read Angel: ATF I highly recommend it.

What is your favourite episode for Spuffy from each season (2,4,5,6 &7, Lover's Walk in 3 is a given)?

season 2 - Bargaining (part 2)
season 4 - Something Blue
season 5 - Intervention or The Gift
season 6 - After Life (and Smashed)
season 7 - Touched

How much do you think Buffy knows about pre-vampire William?

Nothing. I don't think Buffy got told what we saw in Fool For Love.

How do you make compatible your desire/hope for Spike and Buffy to have a future together with the fact that Buffy is mortal and any hope for the Shanshu for Spike is now gone?

I never really had a problem with the whole vampire/human thing so this is not really an issue for me, particularly as they are fictional characters (yeah, easy to forget sometimes). I have can easily envision a future with an older Buffy and a young and beautiful Spike. Lucky Buffy!
Hey, they live in a risky universe where either could die or be killed at any moment so they should take happiness where they find it and not worry about silly little details like the fact that she could (if she's lucky) get old and wrinkly and he might live forever.

I'll get back to you with fic recs...
