^I agree..... Shows that spuffy isn't just a lust couple... Sure there is lust, I mean Spike and Buffy is ultimate lust and desire, but showing they could lie together in a bed, just holding each other... WOW. It's love. Being with someone, just holding them, and still be at ones happiest.. (Angel had to boink her before ultimate happiness...Spike just had to hold her.. )

Looking to the future....(that may or may not happen), Do you think there is a way that both Spike and Angel could be a part of Buffy's life? How would it work?

Somehow, a second Buffy is pulled from an alternate dimension, maybe by one of those spells that Willow gets messed up all of the time. Other Dimension Buffy is still a high school student who has never met Spike. Angel grabs her and runs away with her before she can meet Spike. That's Angel's only chance.


or Do you think Joss will go for an ultimate ending where Buffy ends up canonically with one or the other
of the vampires (or someone else?). Do you think Joss could do it without alienating large sectors of the fan community?

Actually, I have my serious doubts whether Joss will ever settle the Angel/Spike issue. Instead, I think that some white night, figuratively speaking, will come riding in and sweep Buffy off of her feet. They won't live happily after, and on occasion Buffy will think back about Angel's constant brooding and martyr complex, and Spike's insatiable passion and washboard abs...Then she'll look over at Ol' White Knight and say, "Ah, what the hell. I'm really doin' just fine." and drag him off to the bedroom. (Of course, as usually happens at moments like that, the baby will start crying...)



In the end, If your ship didn't get the ultimate payoff (or an ending that works for you) would it effect your overall love of the show/universe?

Of course not. At the very least, I've met some great people here and in other places, and have a great time arguing over the merits of Buffy-mania. Besides which, it might even be fun watching Miss K dance the Irish jig of victory.


You know that amazing part in "Touched" when Spike's giving her the speech about why he loves her and understands her for who she really is? And then he says "you're the one, buffy"...she replies "i dont want to be the one" ...what does that mean? She doesnt want to be the slayer or the "one in charge" or does that mean, she doesnt want to be "the one" for Spike

I think that "the one" Buffy doesn't want to be is the one who has to decide who lives and dies, and then having to live with that decision



If you could write a Spuffy episode how what would it be?

Quite simply, it would have been the episode in Season 6, when Spike and Anya have their little drinking match, except that it would be Faith instead of Anya, and Buffy would be so overcome with jealousy that it would have been her with the axe instead of Xander. Spike saves Faith and tells Buffy that it's really her that he loves, then sweeps her off of her feet, tosses her into his faithful DeSoto, and they head out for parts unknown, leaving Faith to guard the hellmouth.

Joss will never settle the Spike/Angel issue... It's how Joss is. An evil mastermind, who likes to tease people.


I think some people don't like Spuffy because they don't see any future in the realtionship. But really, was there a future with Angel? Spuffy comes out agressive to some people(we call them haters 😉), and just pure awsomeness luurv to others(like me)

I can actually see Spuffy in the future.. Sure it's not the white picket fence(danger danger danger), 3.2 kids and a golden retriver named Django, but I see them as a couple who has enough in themselves. I would love them to have a little girl (Will! After her daddy William) but vampires don't make babies...Something with the....you know.

I was just thinking today about how he responded to Buffy when she told him she loved him at the end of season 7 and he is all "No you dont but thanks for saying it". I find him to be super negative. ^ Seeing and knowing Spike's past and how he generally is(which SOME of us actually likes) I think Spike's perspective on life is fair. All he's been through doesn't make one possitive!

I actually find Spike a positve guy. How negative?? any examples??
Like he was VERY positive in his approch to get Buffy to be with him and it ended up paying off for him in s6. He believed he'd get her eventually and he did because he was positive about it.
But at the end of chosen, that wasnt negativity, that was realistic, he was about to die and simply admitted what we all knew, that she wasnt IN love with him. To all you Spuffers.... NO SHE WASNT.

Well i dont know about you, but if the woman i loved cheated on me id be feeling pretty negative. But i dunno, in general i just see Spike as more positive than negative. Alot.

I've been trying to not get too involved in this discussion, because anyone who knows me knows what my feelings are, and they also know that I sometimes get very...enthusiastic...about this particular subject, as I am sure many of us do. Now, as much fun as this debate has been for all of the literally years that it has been going on, really, since most of us at least claim to be mature, responsible adults (despite what one lady said about my acting like a 5-year-old), I think that we have reached the point where the argument, as much fun as it has been, has just about run its course. My friends, everything that there is to say on this subject has been has been said. Every question answered, every argument countered. It's time to call an end to the contest and all walk away with dignity. The truth of the final scene between Buffy and Spike is really quite simple. She both was, and wasn't, and we all might just as well accept the scene as it was presented. She was, and she wasn't. So simple a cave man could figure it out. She WAS in love with him, and she WASN'T either lying or exaggerating. See? Simple.

plus, i DO think Buffy loved him, but now it was more like the way she loved her friends. I prefer to think that by now she's accepted (quite happily) that its a HUMAN she should be with.

Well, I don't think Spuffy was true love...but it was hot for a while lol....and by the end, there was some real friendship and trust there. I thought their relationship was very real.

Do you really believed she really loved him? I don't know if I agree...I'd love to believe she did, but I don't know if I can.

And yes, I agree though - this convo has been run into the ground on almost every forum, ever. Some people think she did, some people don't. It's cool. Even the cast and crew of the show disagree!!! David Fury thinks she didn't, Marti Noxon thinks she did, James thinks she always loved Angel...

S2- Oh god, I dunno... School Hard I guess cause its when they first met...
S4- Has to be Something Blue
S5- I'm thinking Intervention not cause of the Buffybot/Spike stuff(although that stuff is GREAT) but cause Buffy kissing him at the end really marked the beginning of Spuffy, but I love all their moments together that season from that episode on. Crush comes in a close second.
S6- You know what, I'm gonna go with the less than obvious Life Serial, pre all the destructive sex. I LOVE their interaction in this episode getting drunk together tagging along with him to kitten poker. It was funny and endearing and there was just the most wonderful honest quality to it. They seemed so comfortable together.
S7- Touched, hands down... every last thing about it was perfect.

How much do you think Buffy knows about pre-vampire William?

I think besides the stuff from Fool for Love and maybe some of the flashbacks from Lies my Parents told me, nothing.

I have a few i can rec, can't promise they're all fully "clean" but all the naughty parts are fairly easy to gloss over...
Closure by Kyra Storm is my favorite fic I've ever read, it can get smutty skip those parts if they aren't for you, but I think its a good story and the character voices are spot on (its post Chosen about Buffy finding out Spike's alive)! Other good ones, Hearts Breaking Even by slaymesoftly, Lovers and Lethe by slaymesoftly, Training Potentials by slaymesoftly (short and sweet). I would also highly recommend all Fic by Herself, she's written some great stuff. And the authour Eurydice is phenomenal, particularly Legions of True Hearts and the sequel Symphony of Echos... after you fall in love with those two the rest of her stuff is here. 🙂

My favourite Spuffy episode? Hhmm.. that's one hard question to answer as there are so many... but the one that springs to mind instantly is "Gone" -- Buffy's invisible and she decides to go visit Spike in his crypt to make out!
