The Spuffy Appreciation Thread

Well actually it was only Hannah who said it, but all Bangelers and Spuffies speak for each other.... So technically.... Yeah, THEY said it 😛

omg LOOOOL hahahhaha i don't know why but i laughed so hard when i read this!!
and... yes, that's what i meant 😉

....And one more thing: Bangelers ALWAYS uses the attempted rape thing in a discussion...Geez... Yeah, well Spike knew it was wrong, and he decided to get something she deserved....A man with a soul! From bad things, good things spring (danish saying)

I have never brought that up.........not even once.

I have never brought that up.........not even once.

Yet... How long have you been around?
It kinda turns into a Bangelers "secret weapon"...

But if you never will use that, it would be neat-o...Cos then we wouldn't have to answer back with the soulless Angelus' doings

i can't give ou reputation again, PB but i completely agree with you. 😉

I know! Lately I want to give her reputation all the time, and I can't! So karma to you instead!
I am not condoning the actions of Angelus or "evil" spike because they both did horrible things. It would defeat the purpose of arguing in the first place.

I don't think you can have a lasting romantic love without passion.

Passion keeps things new and fresh, it's what gives you the funny feeling when you think of the other.

Spuffy started out as bitter enemies. Their hate was so passionate that it became another type of passion. They then became friends. As they say, sometimes the basis of the best relationships is friendship. We saw this at the very end.

I know there's probably a thread around here for it, but what does everyone think happened "the night before" in "Chosen," when Buffy comes in the room and her and Spike just look at each other?

My thought, they bang but Joss totally talks about it in the special features. He purposefully had it end that way so we could all come to our own conclusions. My hope, she punches him in the face and then runs up the stairs 🙂

bwah! thanks for the commentary info. Don't have the DVDs yet, so that helps. I have a different hope, but I'm not saying what it is! **flees**
What I think happened or what I wish happened?

I wish they did sleep together... sorry! made love! If they did do it, it was love making, period. But I do think they didn't, because we would have seen or read (comics) hints about it. But it could always happen. If not now (the love making), then later. Someday it will happen!

As long as they were boinking ;)
I think it was a grown up kind of love. I think they both grew as characters. By the end of season 7, they had both learned to love and respect one another warts and all. Like Spike said, he'd seen the best AND the worst in Buffy. And, clearly, Buffy had seen the worst in Spike, too, but when he thought he deserved to die, she said she believed he could be a good man. When no one else would save him -- and, indeed, when others tried to kill him and when he thought he should die, himself -- Buffy stood by and supported him so that he could be the champion she knew he had it in him to be. When Buffy was so torn up and angry and abusive in season 6, Spike was the only one strong enough to take it and to love her anyway. When everyone she loved ganged up on Buffy and threw her out and when her burdens became too much to bear, Spike gave her the strength to keep going. That, to me, is real love. They accept one another's flaws. They make one another stronger. It's pretty darn neat and, at its core, sweet.

So yeah, I liked Spuffy. Of all of Buffy's love interests, Spike was the only one who could love her dark, slayer side, too. By the end, they treated one another like equals due to shared experience rather than quibbling over age or gender roles, thereby exhibiting a balance that neither Bangel nor Briley could find. Spuffy had its problems, but those problems eventually served to make the relationship stronger and more functional in the end. In Buffy's previous relationships, the problems tore the relationships apart. That alone, in my opinion, makes this relationship superior to Buffy's others because it shows us a stronger, more self-reliant, more mature Buffy.

I can't agree more on your post ^^ This is exactly my opinion. That, and the fact that Spike just way more sexy is than Angel ;)

The one thing I never understood is pre-soul how is it that Spike loved anything? I thought that you have to have a soul to truly love someone. If that is the case it would be impossible for Spike to really love Buffy prior to him getting his soul. Right?

vampires can love/hate... feel! even without a soul!
I think thats a misunderstanding with the demon hybrids, The human soul is gone, but the demon is there kinda acting like a soul. I think they can still love, it's just their version might be different than our...sometimes very strange or cruel.

They can still love for one reason or another, it seems. Like the Judge said of Drew and Spike, they reek of humanity...the little book worm vamp fellow loved knowledge....Angelus was the only one devoid of humanity and could not be burned at all.

Someone pretty smart said awhile ago they though Angelus soul/lack there of, was the exception for vampires, not Spike's. (Credit goes to Vampmogs for that insight...thats the smart person who suggested this first in the spike/chip/soul thread)

One things without a doubt, Spike got his love on so much i guess it made him find his soul. I Can't wait to see that arc.

I'll just leave you to a VERY explaining quote from our very own nutcase Drusilla:

"Oh, we can you know. We can love quite well... if not wisely"

Ding dong, anybody home? Yes it's the loving , but soulless, vampire
