Their poor child has the most unfortunate genes. I can understand why they want it to grow up outside of the main limelight.
Could Megan have been unaware of what life was like there? She probably couldn't have imagine what she hadn't experienced. Not defending her, but many are naive like that.
Yes, that's one ugly kid. 😱
Anyway, there's reason that in the past, royals only married other royals (or at the very least, high born individuals). When you're raised royal, you already know what is expected of you. "Never complain, never explain." Just do your duty to the Crown and get on with it.
I'm sure that Meghan had absolutely NO idea what she was in for. Unless you were raised in that environment, there's just no way to understand the scope of it. She probably thought that once she married Harry, she'd be living a luxuriously easy life. Yes, she was an actress, accustomed to flash bulbs and questions.
But the British tabloids are an entirely different animal, as she quickly discovered, to her dismay. They're relentless and predatory. You can't charm them. You can't bargain with them. They're out for blood. (Diana was given a pass for awhile, because of her youth, royal connections, and extraordinary charm. But even she fell from grace eventually) Meghan was caught off guard and flustered...despite her acting experience, good looks and cunnung, she soon discovered that one's public image can be damaged beyond all repair in just a matter of hours.
Like Diana and Fergie before her, Meghan occasionally leaks information to the press, via "unnamed sources at the Palace." But this never turns out well, because most of the 'important' people behind the scenes already knows who the 'source' is. Its rather obvious that Meghan has been studying up on Diana's life, trying to emulate her, to some extent.
But she is not Diana. No matter how hard she tries to ingratiate herself with the British public, no matter how bright her smile is, no matter how expensive her frocks are, at the end of the day, Meghan is and always be an outsider. Even if the Monarchy has "evolved" over the years, many people will always see her as that
divorced, biracial actress who managed to snare a Prince. Times change, yes, but they haven't changed
that much. I assure you, the vast majority of those who serve the Crown (the aristocracy, courtiers, etc) are appalled that Harry chose her to be his wife. They're even more put out that the Queen gave her blessing for this union. But since Harry
isn't going to be King anyway, no one has jumped off any rooftops...yet.
Honestly, it's so obvious that Meghan calls the shots in this marriage. Instead of trying to fit in a world that is steeped in centuries of tradition, she seems intent on doing things HER way. The Monarchy is an old and grand thing; outdated perhaps, yes...but come on, now. People love it because it IS old and grand. The last thing it needs is a C-list actress blundering in and trying to change it.
It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Two royals
who don't want to work anymore, and who want to live abroad...what's the point of them then? Yes, Meghan and Harry are wealthy in their own right, and
could survive without assistance from the Queen...but their child is still seventh line for the throne, and all three of them would still rescue Royal Protection officers no matter where they go. The British taxpayer should NOT have to foot that bill, because Meghan and Harry
AREN'T doing anything.
