Bidet of Evil
I agree with Al and Kean.
Also, I wonder if this article is true. I mean, it is from the Sun.
I never understand why people are surprised when young teens get pregnant. I mean, do we adults not remember puberty? At that age, you're a walking bundle of hormones. Your body is practically screaming at you to go have sex because, over the span of human history, that's the age at which people were supposed to procreate. I couldn't even look at a boy back then without salivating. I am ashamed to admit it, but my assessment of a boy didn't go very far beyond, "Ooooh. He's cute." Cuteness, by the way, was a quality judged by how far he had advanced down the road to adulthood. My mom about freaked out when, at 13, I brought my first boyfriend home and he (at 14) had "peach fuzz" above his lip. To a little, 13-year-old Palabra, boys were good for kissing and that was pretty much it. It took me a long time to learn to see the person underneath the "cuteness." The only reasons for which I refrained from having sex until I was older were: 1.) My parents and my sex ed classes were very clear and I was levelheaded enough not to want to take the risk and 2.) In my friends and other peers, I had plenty examples of teen pregnancy and STDs and I certainly did not desire that outcome. I do remember what it was like to be that age and, while the consequences are sometimes undesirable, it is perfectly normal and natural for teenagers -- even very young teenagers -- to want to have sex and to act on those impulses.
That said, I don't think it's a good idea to have sex at that age. It is certainly easier to deal with the potential consequences later on in life when you can think more practically and see beyond "what if I get into trouble with Mom and Dad?" But I don't think life stops at pregnancy, either. With support from their parents and government assistance, these kids will eek out lives for themselves and for their child that will probably end up pretty average after a rocky start. I don't think teen pregnancy is good, but I don't think it's a tragedy, either. I think it's a natural part of human existence.
