This has got to be too young, surely? 13 year old Dad

Being on benefits adds absolutely nothing to this discussion.
She shouldn't have had a child ESPECIALLY because she was 14 and he was 12 when they had sex.

I was just saying they are on benefits and it's going to make it harder for them.
And if it's SOO natural as you say, then why ESPECIALLY if she's 14 and he's 12.
I thought it wasn't wrong and natural!?

Its not like any of this was planned and as for not having an abortion, well as I am firmly against abortion I think the correct decision was made there.

Yeah I'm against abortion too. But that's a whole other thing lol.

I think people are losing sight of the fact that these two children did something very natural, even for their age and are dealing with one of the natural consequences.

How is anything about 12-15 year old kids having sex natural?!
I don't know one person that will agree with that.

Yes, maybe they should have received better sex education, maybe one of their daddies should have sat them down a couple of years ago and explained to them what happens if you insert appendix a into slot b, but obviously these children have been failed on that side.

I agree.

They have done nothing wrong, and nothing that hasn't been done since humankind first climbed from the trees and started living in caves.

Theres nothing wrong with sex, but I think there is something wrong with little kids having little kids. And a lot of things have happened since humans first climbed on trees that is seriously not right now.

What gets me about this is the age of the girl. She was most likely 14 or early into 15 when the child was conceived.

I'm eighteen years old, I was that age just four short years ago and remember it well. I think that even at that young age, it's pretty messed up that someone would date and in turn have sex with a boy who looked like he could still be in primary school! I was in the 3nd grade at 8! I know he was twelve, but he sure doesn't look it!

I also think the idea that this girl had no idea of the repercussions of unprotectected sex is rediculous! I would bet a large sum of money that she knew the risks, she was just dumb enough to take them.

But regardless, I wonder how the family is feeling after this event has been shown on the news all over the world- as well as information on their financial situation!

I feel for all involved.

Sexual experimentation in puberty is natural, they shouldn't have had one because there is significant chance they won't be able to cope, even with familial assistance.
Had they received adequate education from BOTH parents and school then they would understand how to do it without this particular consequence.
You will never stop young teens from experimenting, nor should you (as long as its within their age group), but you can help prevent situations like this.

Yeah I'm against abortion too. But that's a whole other thing lol.
I agree, this was only put in to put a pinch on the 'should she have gotten rid of the baby' that could easily have come up.

See my comment to the first part and anyone who disagrees with it is really naive about human evolution.

These are children, but I wouldn't say they are little kids.
Human nature is curious, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them experimenting. They are at an age when its what you do.
Again, this is part of our evolution. Hence why at 12-15 girls begin the process of being able to carry children and boys begin the process of certain things 'dropping' and voices deepening for the purposes of attracting a mate.
You tell me one thing that humans do now that we did when swinging in trees, that is an evolutionary necessity for survival (and procreation is indeed that), that is wrong.

You're judging a relationship based on your own desires and tastes.

You don't know anything about this couple of kids except what is in the paper/media.
You don't know how they know each other, you don't know what they have done together, you don't know anything really.

This is not really anything to do with the discussion because you don't know all the facts.

I doubt the situation came about by the young fella walking down the street eying up this lovely lass and having a one night stand after a few Lambrinis and a kebab!

My apologies
I know experimenting is natural, but I always thought there was a fine line between experimenting and full blown sex.

Well full blown sex for the first time is experimental and when do you think people should start?

You can't stop them from 'doing it' and you really shouldn't.
What should be done is teaching them the rights and wrongs, the dos and don'ts of sex.

Heck, with a better education system in place, I would imagine less youngsters would be in a rush to try it out.

Like maybe the girl is old enough to be having like real sex, but not with that 13 year old. Like at least wait till you are 15 and do it right with protection. And I think it's perfectly FINE to stop 12 year olds from having sex.

I'm not disagreeing with you on stopping them, but how do you?

If these kids are going off somewhere to have sex how do you know?

At 13, hormones raging, you really will have sex at the drop of a hat.
There is no right and wrong to that, its a natural side effect of puberty.

Even at 15 (hell you could argue its the same for 30 year olds!).

If these kids were properly educated then fine, but you can't supervise them 24/7 and the moment you accept that, you have to accept the possibilities.

This whole topic isn't and shouldn't be about the two having sex, it should be about how they have been failed in their education of sex.

I believe that the parents should tell them BUT I also believe the state should have some hand in educating them.

It shouldn't be about right and wrong, it should be about how to do it safely.

While i've already apologised (via karma) I'd just like to point out that while I agree with what you have to say and would delete my post if I could, what I said is completely relevant to the discussion because the first poster asked for our thoughts- which is what I contributed. Also, none of us know the facts, we're all basing out opinions on what we've been told by the media.

Did I suggest you should apologise?
Did I suggest you should delete your post?

You gave your opinion and I simply gave my reasoning for why it was flawed.

Thats no biggie, thats discussion!

I clearly didn't imply that you suggested either of those things.

All I did was try and point out that I see your point.

(edit) and mention something in your reasoning that I believed was incorrect. Forgot to mention that, lol.

I know, I just didn't want you to think I was telling you to do something.

Your point has been made before in this thread and I just couldn't be bothered to skim, so I just used you as a means to make my point.

Thats why apology wasn't accepted because you didn't need to give one!

I generally apologise when i've realised what was wrong with my initial opionion/post. It's illogical, I guess but it's just what I do. Having said that, i'll try to stop doing that if it gives off that impression 😛.

If you'd actually told me to do something, I probably would have told you to stick it, i've quite the inferiority complex at times. 😛

I heard about it in the news yesterday and I couldn't belive it. And the pic of him and his daugter and his girlfriends really shocked me, because he really looked like the brother of the baby (which would be pretty normal) but not like the father!!!

Oh good Lord. Well, MSN's picked up the story. Must have gone across the news wires, so it'll be all over the place, now. I don't guess that's a bad thing, it's time people stopped burying their heads in the sand anyway.

Father at 13, MSN.com.

And apparently, he may not be the father. A 16 year old claims he has done the deed with the girl around the same time and other boys are coming out of the woodwork.

I read about that in the paper today, to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if this 16 year old boy turns out to be the father. But then again it could still be this shocking story of the 13 year old being the father. I just can't get my head around the fact he had sex or was even in that state of mind to go through with it.

OK Harms Way, more information has been 'aired' now I have no issue with any of the name calling!

This is a terrible revelation (including that the 13 year old is being offered 5 figure sums for his story - 5 figures for 'I had sex with an older girl!', what is the world coming to?!?!?!) and really shows badly of the parents teaching.

I stand by everything I have said about sex but I have lost any sympathy I had for the girl.

Oh good lord!
Dad at 13

God, I wasn't even THINKING about the act of sex at that age! I don't know, but this just really shocked me. He's just so young! I can't get my head around it. He thought it would be a good idea? Seriously?!?!

What are your thoughts?

Yeah, someone posted the article on Facebook a few days ago and I read it. I don't even have words for this, really. It's so wrong and so disturbing. I was pretty shocked, too. I fear for this poor child...who will support it?

This is sick and disgusting, but I'm not really surprised. It's not uncommon for kids noawadays to have sleep with each other at age 12 in some areas, in fact, it's perfectly normal. I personally find it a bit absurd and off-putting, and can't help thinking about who the heck has taught these kids, but honestly, it's probably all their friends and peers, et al.

I think that the boy and girl are COMPLETELY irresponsible. They themselves are still children and they are going to try and raise a baby? I fear for the baby and hope that it gets taken away from them, because they will not be giving it a good upbringing. The poor baby.
