Ok So I went to see the movie today with my mate who is a huge fan and I want to have my little overview ranty of the movie. I havent read the entire thread so Im sorry if Im just repeating what others have said.
I havent laughed that much in a LONG time. I felt like I was missing out on parts of the story as I havent read the book. I didnt go with expectations of it being good or bad really, but when I saw the shot of Edward in biology looking like he was going to throw up with the owl wings behind his head all angelic like, I lost it. Edward was so serious and Bella was so blank almost, I cant think of a better word for her really. I thought she had HEAPS better chemistry with Jacob than Edward, Im not sure if it was written like that in the book or if it was the actors or something. And Jacob was so cute, like little boy cute, I just wanted to pinch his little cheeks (and do something about the hair!).
I totally lost it again when we first saw the older Doctor Cullen, I cant remember his name now, but I laughed so much I started chocking on my popcorn. I dont think the people in the cinema were too impressed with me 😛 His makeup was so ridiculous, you would think they could make it look a bit better somehow. One shot in particular you could see the layers of crap on his face. And that set me off laughing again everytime I saw him.
Edward was kinda creepy with the watching her in her sleep thing, There were a few bits where I thought, oh he's kinda cool, like when he smiled coming out of the car in the school carpark with Bella, it would have been nice to see more bits like that, I just wanted to tell him to relax a bit!
The running and climbing thing was kinda dumb but I dont know how else they could have done it really with Bella hanging off him like a drunk getting a piggyback. And when they went into the sunlight and he was all pretty and sparkly he reminded me of a mermaid for some reason, and so the uncontrollable laughter started again. His eyes were awesome but it would have been cool to see some kind of sparkle in the sunlight thing on ground level too, like just a glimpse of it.
Their first kiss gave me mega flash backs to Buffy and Angels first kiss, but they seemed to take forever, I was getting bored by the lingering. And then when she fell asleep on his chest his face screamed "Oh shit now Im stuck here like this all night" and the laughter began again. Im not sure if it is because I have missed some stuff in the book but the relationship seemed really one sided up until near the end. Edward was head over heels whereas Bella appeared kinda "meh" about the whole thing.
The baseball game was great, Alice is adorable! I thought it was a really fun scene. James was hot up until he caught a wiff of Bella, then I couldn't take him seriously. Especially cos all the Cullens looked like a bunch of growling ken dolls when they turned to protect Bella. I felt so sorry for Charlie with Bella saying all that stuff and being a bitca 🙁 Why couldn't she have just jumped out the window! I dont get why she had to be so awful. And then running away from the Cullens to meet James by herself? What a dumbarse, shes not all that bright really. I liked that she did get hurt when she gets thrown across the room though, so many movies people go and smack their head on a wall or something and get up running (ahem *James Bond* cough) for some reason it really annoys me so I was glad she was screaming on the floor (glad is maybe not the word I should use... or maybe it is). Them all dancing around the James fire was funny.
The prom scene was totally soppy. The other students were always so childish (again I dont know if it was how it was written or the actors) but I thought it was a good contrast to Edward. I liked that they were just kids and nothing more.
I dont know if I will read the books or not yet, I think I might be bored with the first one having seen the movie. Probably eventually I will. I did enjoy the movie, it was fun and simple (I cant think of the word I want so that will do). I came out of the cinema smiling with sore stomach muscles from laughing so hard... I dont think that was the aim of it all but I had a great time and cant wait for the next one.
