Unofficial Buffy-Boards Buffy the Vampire Slayer Rewatch

Sounds good 🙂 I live in Australia so it gets a bit confusing since its already the 8th here. I'll just start when I see people start posting about the first episode.

My plan was to make a post at about midnight EST (my time zone) with my thoughts on the episode -- I won't have my thoughts in there for this one, since I didn't prepare the first two episodes, but there will still be a post for when it "officially starts".

EDIT: I'm also going to be listening to Buffy recap podcasts alongside this rewatch. Going to try and listen to every one that I can find. So far, I know of The Art of Slaying, The Buffy Rewatch (from tvcritic.org), Hellmouth Podcast, Buffy Revisited, Watchercast, and Potentialcast. Any others that people know of? I'm trying to find as many as possible to listen to along with watching the series.

I don't know about adding Angel to the mix when we hit Season 4, unless they're the crossover episodes. Which would make sense considering that they're connected

Sounds good to me 🙂

Well, I'll probably be watching the Angel episodes alongside the Buffy episodes, whether or not it carries on to this thread.

And yeah, I think I'll make the official two-parters (the ones that have numbers) and the episodes that Wikipedia lists as airing on the same day count as one episode together for the sake of the rewatch. Like I said, that'll help it move along more quickly. And for other episodes that aren't officially two-parters (like Surprise and Innocence), I'll leave it up to anyone who's watching along to decide if we should. I don't want to have so much of this that people don't have the time to easily follow along, but I also want to move it along a little more quickly, since this is a decently long show.

Again, any of this could change if people want to do things differently -- I'm all for catering this to everyone else who's watching along.

I think to two parters being on the same day is a good idea because otherwise this would be going on until May 2014. Not that I would mind 🙂

Sounds good 🙂 Its funny, I finished watching the entire series for the first time yesterday, and I'm starting again tomorrow 😛

I've always been bad with re-watches because I always get up to around season 6 and forget to continue. Also on my rewatches, Hush always seems to land on night.

This seems like a better and better idea the more I think about it. So, I think we'll watch it like that.

Is this happening in this specific thread, or are we doing it through the episode discussion threads? I know for the Dollhouse rewatch there was a new thread for each episode.

Whos gonna watch the DVDs and whos watching it on Netflix?

Also is the orignal ep 1 opening about the flashbacks avlable somewhere? I know its not on the DVDs

So are people doing the "˜stream of consciousness thoughts while watching' or collecting their thoughts after the episode?

I have the DVD's because Netflix isn't avaliable here. Not to mention that I love listening to Joss's voice in his commentaries.

With it now being Tuesday here, we're staying the rewatch with Welcome to the Hellmouth and The Harvest. I'll have my thoughts about the episode posted sometime in the morning/afternoon.

I'll be watching the DVDs since I've newly acquired them (they're not mine, but they belong to someone who lives with me).

I have the DVD's because Netflix isn't avaliable here. Not to mention that I love listening to Joss's voice in his commentaries.

I type out thoughts as I watch, then edit them into something more coherent afterwards.

And the commentaries are a good reason to watch the DVDs - something I will be doing watching through this time. I love the way Joss talks about things, so I can't not listen.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Welcome to the Hellmouth

- The scoring is a little over-dramatic
- The glass breaking scares me every time
- What is Darla wearing?
- Darla biting that guy is such a good mislead.
- I don't like the roughness of the theme song in season 1-2
- The shorten hair suits Joyce
- Xander is so bleh in this episode/season/ frst three seasons
- Willow who wore that in the 50's let alone the 90's
- Why would principal Flutie rip up a permanent record? That's the type of woolly-headed liberal thinking that gets you eaten.
- The asbestos line always seems a little too clunky for my tastes.
- I highly doubt Xander knows what suave means.
- Why is that girl wearing a raincoat? The fashion is really bad in this episode.
- Cordelia's cool test is corny as it is. The fact that on top of that her dialogue rhymes is even more laughable.
- Even though we are meant to believe that Cordelia is just being horrible to Willow, you have to admit she did have a point about that outfit.
- I'm so glad that Joss stopped the horrible dialogue that the girls use in the locker.
- I love how Willow fan girls over Giles.
- "Morbid much" Best line of the episode.
- I really don't like Jesse. He is just so sleazy and bleh. Xander is no better in this episode but at least he grows.
- Buffy does come off as kind of unlikeable in that scene with Giles. I get where she is coming from but she didn't have to be mean to poor Giles. The calende line was pretty funny though.
- I'm not going to really nit pick at the fact that Xander is there at the right time. I let it slide since its early days.
- I really liked how Joyce read all the books and listened to all the tapes. I wish that was a bigger part of her character because I find it hilarious.
- Angel looks less broody tortured guy and more play boy mansion guy. He is a bit of a cardboard cut in season one. Must be a requirement to be Buffy's boyfriend.
- I love that little story we get about the relationship between Xander and Willow because it shows that there is a history there.
- I agree Giles about this band. You should take over the mic and sing Freebird.
- "Trust me, only someone who had lived underground for ten years would think that was still the look." Have you forgotten what Willow was wearing Buffy?
- The scene where Buffy almost stakes Cordelia is the highlight of this episode. People seem to say that when it comes to season 1 that Cordelia isn't a very well formed character, but I think she is the one who filled out the role the best in this episode. Along with Willow and Giles. The character of Xander and Buffy are still rough around the edges.
- I don't like the Master. He just creeps me out despite being a really cheesy villain.
- There's a lot of dramatic falling and extreme gymnastic moves.
- " Don't go far" That come out really unintentionally funny. Darla was terrible on Buffy but was pretty awesome on Angel.
-I love how Buffy gives the viewer discretion
-I'm kind of glad that Buffy's extreme over confidence was ruined by Luke because otherwise Buffy would have come off as really obnoxious.
- The cliffhanger has left me shivering in my boots...not. Okay I promise i'll be less critical of season one and its a little hypocritical of me since that scene scared the living daylights out of me when I first saw it.

I'm going to go watch The Harvest now and my thoughts on that will be posted shortly.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Harvest

- People say that this is the weaker of the two parts but I have to disagree. there's so many good lines and moments in this episode.
- I love it when Buffy improvises with her fighting tactics.
- Who cares about Jesse. I dislike the guy so much.
- I don't get why Xander is always wearing such ugly clothing. Its really distracting.
-When Giles gives Willow and Xander such a short brief I can't help but laugh. I'm not even sure it was meant to be funny.
- "Well, we don't have to say vampires. We could just say that there's a bad man." Willow is seriously the best. I love how innocent and wholesome she is in this season.
- Its been obvious that Willow was going to be on the path she went on just by looking at this episode. Just look at how Willow's naughty computer hacking. She's been a bad seed right from the start.
- I can't stand the scene where Xander is trying to be all childish and saying how he is thought to be less then man. Xander can be so annoying sometimes.
- Giles' hatred for most technology has always given me joy. I liked how he eventually ended up using one in season 3.
- The computer lab scene is so funny with the deliever part. I do love how we can already seen the character development in Willow since Buffy had arrived.
- I love Buffy's lame excuses when she tries to get out of trouble.
- Why would Buffy want Jesse to be a potential friend?
- I havee to admit Xander did make me laugh when he said Buffy was a superhero.
- Since Jesse was a vamire, maybe they should have practiced some of those stories on him.
- Poor Collin 🙁
- I like the fact that by Joyce grounding buffy that the show is still treating her like a teenager who has consequences for her actions.
- I think that despite what people say about Cordelia in season 1, I still think she is awesome in this season. The Bronze scene was especially hilarious.
- The music at The Bronze is better this episode.
- Giles' words of wisdom to Xander were so smart and amazing. I just love Giles so much.
- More unecessary Gymnastic moves by our hero. I'm pretty sure that stops after this episode.
- It was so sweet how Willow saved Giles. They are my favourite non-couple pair.
- Xander finally stakes Jesse. They musn't have been the good of friends if he never mentions him ever again. Neither does Willow.
- The sunrise gag is a classic
- I could see how people could find the surpressed memory explaination annoying but I quite like it. Obviously it would have been a mistake to show all the cards so early on.

Welcome To The Hellmouth

-The dialogue is so constant it kind of is too much at the time. WTTH requires a certain mood
-I appreciate how the episode shows consequences of advice- 'seize the day'' and then we see Willow approach a vampire. Xander should take a note- Into The Woods, much?
-Willow is fantastic, as is The Master
-Score is overdone
-Wtf are those sounds Darla makes when she talks to Buffy near the cemetery?
-Luke's dialogue.... snore....
-Always great seeing the first vampire staked in the show
-Great opening... but Whedon kinda overwrote the ''damsel in distress''. Would've worked better if it were stripped down some of the dialogue in the opening
-Cheesy, cliffhanger ending.

Final score: 79/100.

Good start.

Okay, some thoughts, pulled from the notes I took as I watched

Welcome to the Hellmouth:

The more I watch, the more I like this opening sequence. There’s a lingering shot on the library, foretelling what’s going to come, then a lot of creepy shots of the science lab. I like the mood, then they subvert what you expect to happen with the guy and Darla. Now, a lot of my appreciation is due to the rest of the series and especially more about Darla, so it’s really not due to this episode.

On another note, she looks really different here than she does later -- I didn’t realize how beautiful Julie Benz was until she came back in Angel.

The theme song is a lot slower and a lot of more iconic scenes in it aren’t there yet -- which is kind of unfortunate, but they hadn’t shot those yet. In season 3 it gets to the theme music I really remember.

What’s with the zombies in Buffy’s dream sequence?

The opening is so 90s that it’s really jarring -- this season aged the worst.

Xander and the skateboard reminds me of myself -- I remember when I played all the Tony Hawk games and bought a skateboard, then kind of forgot about it over time.

Alyson comes in as Willow, and suddenly there is great chemistry between everyone in the main cast -- such a great change from the pilot (which wasn’t seen by most people for the first run, so it’s not like anyone had that to compare it to).

Around this time, I’m noticing that this is a lot brighter lit and just generally better looking than I remember -- possibly because the last Buffy I watched was the pilot and there’s nowhere to go but up.

Cordy would “kill to live in LA”? Hmm...

Some of this episode ages terribly -- Cordy quizzing Buffy, and the girls in the locker room -- I don’t remember too much of the 90s, and I don’t have much nostalgia for it. I see that I am justified.

“Don’t you have an elsewhere to be?” -- I love this line, probably the best in the episode

The scene in the library is a great way to really get things going. Buffy and Giles get all of their exposition out in an argument (a technique Joss loves), and Xander gets pulled in by sheer coincidence. Something I noticed about a change from the pilot -- Xander isn’t revealed to be there until after the argument, while he was shown in the middle of the fight during the pilot, then at the very end. Just an interesting change. I love how Xander finds all of this out.

When Angel shows up, you can tell that David’s acting isn’t really good to start with, but you can see the chemistry he has with Sarah already. I’m not sure if the fact that he’s a vampire is playing tropes straight or subverting them, or what. And Angel is more upbeat than normal, which is actually when he’s the most fun to watch -- see Angelus. Also his line “I didn’t say I was yours” -- not well delivered, but an awesome line.

The Bronze is a warehouse? That’s what it looks like here. And the interior looks pretty much the exact same as it does for the rest of the series -- the staircase there looks really familiar, and it immediately makes me think of Faith (No, I can’t get one episode into this without being reminded of Faith -- I may have a problem.)

Giles and Willow are much different here than they become later -- Giles is more tightly wound, Willow is more timid. Her character changing is part of why I don’t like her as much later (I don’t hate or dislike her, but she becomes a lot less likeable, even though she remains a good character throughout). Also, Willow’s awkwardness reminds me so much of Fred (Yeah, I think WAY ahead, but I can’t ignore my favorite characters)

Cordelia’s cell phone dates this episode, though a lot of things really date this episode

Darla is obviously not fully formed -- the “real” Darla wouldn’t be afraid of Luke, and she’d know Buffy was the slayer, not being so afraid of her. And Luke is a lot of fun -- too bad he dies soon, but the actor will be back later.

Also, really good to establish that Buffy won’t always win easily -- Luke overpowers her a little too easily

Cheesy cliffhanger!

And on to The Harvest:

The resolution to the cliffhanger is a little contrived and happens too easily

I’m still not used to the credits -- too slow, and I keep expecting to see a scene that’s there for like 2.5 seasons later on (around the point where the music speeds up, involves a dancing scene that I really love)

“I need to sit down” -- Willow, this exchange is just great.

“Waiting for [...] the old ones to return” -- Well, a couple do...

When the Master calls out Darla for already feeding on Jesse, it reminds me of the line Darla had about leftovers in the pilot -- kind of odd...

A little too much exposition here -- I’d expect all of this exposition out of the first episode, not the second. But Willow starts to show her real value here.

“That was a bit, um, British, wasn’t it?” -- Did this line remind anyone else of Adelle DeWitt’s “I’m very British” line from Dollhouse?

Angel appears somewhere with a little too much daylight -- at this point, they might not have known they were going to make him a vampire, which is kind of interesting. And his acting still needs some work.

“Do you know what it’s like to have a friend? [pause] That wasn’t supposed to be a stumper.” -- probably the best line in these first two episodes.

Xander is self-aware of how stupid he’s being following Buffy into danger -- I love that fact. I love self-aware characters, and he’s the first to become self-aware, though most everyone is over time.

...so, the vessel is a Mercedes?

Buffy’s leather jacket looks like the one I wear -- just a very basic, simple jacket. And there are Communion wafers in her trunk? I... just can’t ignore that. Why does she have them, and why don’t we ever see them used?

Buffy sure loves going out the window. I wonder if she was born by C-section........ (If you don’t get it, look up Steven Wright.)

Slow-motion walk to 90s music -- no, not cheesy at all.

The bouncer is a walking stereotype? Check. Later on, they do a better job of that with seemingly bit characters -- Skip, anyone?

“You’re not looking at your friend, you’re looking at the thing that killed him.” -- there’s a lot of discussion and debate I’ve seen about what this sentence means. Probably shouldn’t get into it here.

Jesse pinning Cordelia to the ground is the first time in the series we see a scene that gets a little... rape-like... Happens a fair number of times within the series.

The exchange between Buffy and Luke and the way she defeats him is pretty good, though his reaction is a little over the top

“Nothing’s ever going to be the same” -- I think they were calling back to this line at the beginning of Season 8..

I like this ending scene -- score is a little much, but the rest of the scene really works well. And yes, blow things up. We all know how that goes. It’ll get you expelled....... right?

Okay, so overall... I’m not going to give a numerical rating, since I don’t really believe they’re that useful, if that makes sense. Honestly, there were a few places where this lost me and started to drag on a bit -- I think this could’ve been a single episode, and the season finale could’ve been split into two -- there was a lot more going on there, and this had a good number of scenes that were just pointless or dragging. It’s still a pretty good introduction to the characters, and you have a pretty good idea of what you’re in for throughout the series. But as much as I like these episodes, they just don’t stick in my head too well -- I watched one yesterday afternoon and the other this morning, and I barely remember them outside of a few quotes and scenes.

So, yeah, good introduction and one of very few essential episodes in the first season -- really, you only need to watch 1, 2, 7, and 12 to get all of the story. These episodes are fine, but it just takes too long for the series to get good.

- The scoring is a little over-dramatic

- I don't like the roughness of the theme song in season 1-2

- The asbestos line always seems a little too clunky for my tastes.

- Cordelia's cool test is corny as it is. The fact that on top of that her dialogue rhymes is even more laughable.

The score is a little too much -- the guy who did the score for the first season now does Family Guy, I believe, which makes a bizarre amount of sense.

The theme song at this point is actually a demo of the full song, I believe -- in season 3 it goes to the full version.

The asbestos line works for me because it was so clunky.

Cordelia’s dialogue rhymes? I might have to watch this again just to check that.

The terrible slang in the locker room -- let’s just forget that ever happened.

I love the calendar line. It’s such a Buffy moment.

Angel wasn’t figured out for quite a while -- also, David wasn’t really an actor before this show. He was discovered while he was out walking his dog (which is just weird).

Honestly, I disagree about characters being well formed. Cordelia, Buffy, and Xander are pretty much there when they start, to me, while Willow and Giles are a little rough. But these are opinions, so...

If you think this is too much dramatic falling and gymnastics, don’t watch the movie.

And the cliffhanger is a little cheesy, but be as critical of the season and the show in general as you’d like.

- People say that this is the weaker of the two parts but I have to disagree. there's so many good lines and moments in this episode.

Okay, I disagree about this being the better half, but I really think these should’ve just been one episode in the first place.

Giles’s quick explanation was probably supposed to be funny in its odd way -- Joss thing to do.

Cordelia is awesome in season 1, she’s just not as likeable.

I love how Buffy uses the sunrise thing -- one of the best parts of the episode.

You have to keep up the masquerade somehow -- people doing it to themselves is just as bad as something like, say, the Men in Black. You have to take care of keeping everything secret somehow.

Wow, that was a lot. Jeez.

Welcome to the Hellmouth:

Cordelia's dialogue rhymes? I might have to watch this again just to check that.

The terrible slang in the locker room -- let's just forget that ever happened.

I love the calendar line. It's such a Buffy moment.

Angel wasn't figured out for quite a while -- also, David wasn't really an actor before this show. He was discovered while he was out walking his dog (which is just weird).

Honestly, I disagree about characters being well formed. Cordelia, Buffy, and Xander are pretty much there when they start, to me, while Willow and Giles are a little rough. But these are opinions, so...

If you think this is too much dramatic falling and gymnastics, don't watch the movie.

And the cliffhanger is a little cheesy, but be as critical of the season and the show in general as you'd like.

Those weren't zombies in Buffy's dream, they were the vampires outside the school in Prophecy Girl

Well she only slightly rhymes in "If you hang with me and mine, you'll be accepted in no time" which is still pretty cheesy.

Cordelia does mention aura and aphrodisia from time to time on Angel so I guess it isn't entirely forgetten.

Apart from the Angelus arc, I didn't think Angel the character was so solid until he went over to Angel. I feel David Boreanaz really stepped it up for his show.

I can see what you're saying about whether the characters were well formed yet. I just think the essence of Willow, Cordy and Giles are already there. Xander and Buffy don't that fully formed yet. I think its the hair more than the character.

The Buffy movie was on one night but I thought it was best not to watch it.

I'll try to be as critical as I can but i'm going to give it some slack because its the first season.

Okay, I disagree about this being the better half, but I really think these should've just been one episode in the first place.

Giles's quick explanation was probably supposed to be funny in its odd way -- Joss thing to do.

Cordelia is awesome in season 1, she's just not as likeable.

Jeez.

I just found The Harvest to be more enjoyable and it had more memorable quotes.

I can see how Cordelia could be seen as less likeable in episodes 1-10 before the character development but I still think she had some pretty funny lines.

I just finished watching the episodes, and I also finished reading the novelization today 🙂

-Welcome To The Hellmouth-

-Man, that spoken intro is even cheesier than I remember it being. I wonder why they didn't just have Anthony Stewart-Head just do the speech instead of some voice actor that we never see or hear from again after "Prophecy Girl"

-The intro serves it purpose well, it sets the tone and mood of the entirety of Season 1. It properly introduces us to our antagonists and shows us what the vamps themselves look like

-Buffy's dream again sets the stage for S1.

-"Try not to get kicked out." Wow Joyce, way to make Buffy feel at ease 😛

-Xander's introduction- Still priceless

-I saw a few people mention why Willow dresses like shes from the 1950s. Remember, she's still under the 'control' of her mom, and Willow's family is largely Jewish. That could have some effect on why she dresses the way she does

-Jesse. God, I'm actually glad we didn't see more of this character. He's largely just a throw away that I wasn't interested in seeing more of.

-Proper introduction of why Buffy and Joyce had to move to Sunnydale. I like the show's explanation better than the 1992 movie, because it seems more like a logical explanation to why she was expelled. If she had simply started a large fight, like she did in the movie, it would havem most likely been suspension or a large amounts of detention. Burning down the gym is the way to go to having yourself be expelled.

-This backstory is really fleshed out more in "The Origin" comics, which are a lot more truer to the Joss' original script than the movie was.

-I love the way Cordy is introduced. We get the general feeling that "Ok, she might not be that bad." And then as soon as she starts bashing Willow, we see that she is our 'two-faced bitch', for lack of a better term

-I feel really bad for Willow in this scene. She's just trying to get a drink, and here comes Cordy looking to bring her down and degrade her. Don't get me wrong, I love Cordy as much as the next person, but its kinda hard to like her in that scene.

-Ah, our introduction to our loveable Watcher, Mr. Rupert Giles. God, its weirds seeing him with practically a full head of black hair after getting used to seeing his greying hair in the later seasons.

-That PC in the background brings up some memories 😛

-The chatting in the locker room is kinda stereotypical but it works for that particular moment

-"Morbid much?" 😛

-So, she easily breaks the lock on the door, and no-one notices this later on?

-Again, now that I've read the backstory more on what happened before the start of the show, Buffy's reluctance to assume the role of the Slayer again is more reasonable and actually makes a much more degree of sense than it did when I originally watched it

-"The calendar" 😛

-Angel's introduction does have him lacking the trademark moodiness, but again, it works with the mood of S1. Remember, at this point, Joss didn't plan to have him be a vampire, and he was supposed to be like Whistler

-The trademark cross, things are really starting to get moving now

-Willow seems really out of place in the Bronze, sitting alone at the bar. She still hasn't broken out of her shell yet. Again, her clothing screams "My mother picked this out for me."

-And no one notices the older English man sitting up on the balcony?

-Buffy being able to sense vampires. You know, I don't think we've ever gotten a full, comprehensive explanation of this. If anyone has it, please let me know. I'm really interested in getting the whole picture of this

-"What is your childhood trauma?!"

-Darla. Already you can tell that this vamp might have more to her than what we see on the surface.

-Being led through the grave-yard on the grounds that "it's a shortcut"? Willow, anyone could see that it was bad idea!

-Again, if you look at the design of the crypt, you can see that there are numerous places that sunlight can creep in. Explain to me how Angel is able to be in there in "The Harvest" without having one shred of sunlight hit him?

-You can see that Buffy still has a lot to learn still, considering that she pretty much gets her butt handed to her by Luke.

-To be continued. The worst thing you will ever see when watching a TV show

-The Harvest-

-I noticed this, and I would like to bring this up. Ok, the cross Buffy has from Angel is clearly just laying on her chest, its not in a pocket or anything. Immediatly after Luke is kicked out the casket, where does it go? We didn't see Buffy pick it up and put it back in her pocket, did it just fall into her shirt?

-Willow's cutting it pretty close, but luckily Buffy's there

-Same goes for Xander.

-Giles giving the shortened version of the intro speech is, again, priceless

-"Breathe" and "You are sitting down". Classic early Willow reactions. I've missed seeing her like this

-How is Buffy able to jump that high? I know, Slayer abilities and all, but come on? NO-ONE SEES THAT?

-The sewer sequences do their job very well, Good atmosphere, but the music is just a little too much at times

-"Deliver." I can't tell how much I used this line in my computer applications class last year

-Xander, personally, it was a really stupid idea to go after Buffy. She knows what she's doing

-Another narrow escape.

-Ah, the first example of sunlight being a vampire's enemy that we see in the series

-Joyce, in my opinion, is really a terrible parent in the earlier seasons. I mean, 'tapes'? Come on, just a little over the top

-The fight inside the Bronze is pretty well done. Again, atmosphere works really well, and it gets you in the mood

-Jesse meeting his end at Xander's hands could have been brought up a little bit more. It's like its never mentioned again in the entire series. You think that killing your best friend would have left more of an impact

-Nobody ever said vampires were the smartest demons. Luke, night just fell. How could you forget that? I understand being basically the Master's puppet, but still.

-"The world is defintely doomed." No, Giles, but there are times it may seem like that

Overall, these two episodes were a great way to set the tone the series would follow, but Season 1 suffers from having a few bugs to still work out. It's still one of the best TV seasons I've ever seen, but it defintely needed some work.

Welcome to the hellmouth

-I always love the opening scene...and when the glass is broken, it scares me everytime, I'm not gonna lie...I always can't remember when exactly is gonna happen so that's a plus.

-Love how Joss inverted roles from the beginning, the girl is the vamp and the guy's the victim. I pointed this out even in my graduation thesis.

-Joyce bugs me (as she does in most of the seasons)...way to trust your kid and on her first day.

-Cordelia's lines are probably the best in season 1, along with Xander...

-Angel and Buffy...well, it's just loooove. Need I say more?

-The score is kinda weird to hear now

-I never understood why Joss said that he thought everyone would get that Angel was a vampire cause he didn't hand personally the cross to Buffy, he didn't touch it.
I mean, If someone gave me a necklace, I'd like the box as well or a brooch..that's what you do so I never understood how we were supposed to get it

-the pace of the episode feels slow sometimes

-I liked Jesse, poor guy

-I always find the last scene really weird...how it's interrupted and then "to be continued"...REALLY cheesy...but I agree with people above saying it's a good thing Buffy was attacked and didn't conquer everything. It makes for a nice introduction episode where we have bits of everyone and can have a global picture in mind.

The Harvest

-The cross mystery...when did Buffy took it back?

-I love The Master...I just really do. He's my favorite villain and I regret nothing

-Luke. Ugh. How can a vamp who's been around a long time be so incredibly stupid? I found the sunlight thing weird but hey, it worked

-Buffy and Xander escaping the tunnel...and very touchy-feely...I wonder (since I can't really remember anything about this) if Joss EVER intended for them to hook up sometimes but I guess not since he refused to do that in season 7

-I find David's acting so stiff in this...first acting job I get it..he got so much better later but that scene in the mausoleum it's almost too hard to watch.

-Love all the hilarious quotes

-And Giles explaining to Xander that his friend is gone and that he's "looking at the thing that killed him". Priceless. I always love that.

I'm excited to watch 'Witch' tomorrow. It's so much more exciting when you have to wait a few days to watch the next episode.
