Maybe its because Buffy has so many fantastic episodes that the episodes you mentioned seem sub par. In reality the episodes you mentioned are still better than episodes from other television series.

Yeah, "better than most other television series" means nothing, basically. But there are other shows of comparable quality to Buffy, and in fact I'd say that quite a few of those shows are more consistently good than Buffy (though most don't reach the same heights at their best as Buffy does). Of course this is just my opinion - the quality of a TV show is subjective (I'm probably one of a small minority of Buffy fans who dislikes Doctor Who, for example).

I should have included the word "most". Nevertheless i'd argue that Buffy is different to other television series. I'am a fan of shows like Prison Break and 24 that are thrilling and gripping, they are superb shows and of great quality consistently.
However they don't give me the same feelings i experience when i watch Buffy. I find it hard to explain but i feel different when i watch Buffy. 24 and Prison Break and i'am guessing shows like Lost may provide great entertainment but i wouldn't rewatch those shows.
With Buffy i find myself watching episodes over and over again underlining what i mentioned before about it being unique. That's just my opinion though.

I think the first season is kind of lame, pretty forgettable if you ask me. Also I enjoy Season 4 a lot, man "Hush" is one creepy episode.

By S7 I actually hate her, I only watch for Xander and Giles really, but that's pretty pointless because it's become the "Buffy&Spike show".
Don't get me wrong, I quite like spike, but there's not enough Core Four in the last season for me.

Hm, I don't like the character of Buffy very much either. But I'm the opposite- I love her in S7, and kind of in S6 and S5, but I really detest her in the early seasons.
I love Spuffy... But I don't like Spike. Or Buffy.

I agree partially here. I kinda liked Buffy, which is unusual for me since I never like main characters. But I do agree with ya about how it became the Buffy and Spike Show. I missed Giles in season 6, and he was hardly seen in season 7! I was so sad!

I love Giles, but kinda retrospectively. I didn't really notice how awesome he was, and how integral to the dynamic of the show he was, until he left. I do think he was perhaps the most integral of all the character except of course Buffy. The show could've gotten by without Xander or Willow (even though I love them), or any other character, but it needed the mature, experienced voice of Giles. Without him, or the only other mature voice (Angel), the dynamic collapsed and the whole show felt immature, IMO.
Oddly, I think that the Scoobies were more mature and acted more like adults in the first three seasons than the last 2. S5 probably got the balance about right.

I don't think I'll ever call S7 entertaining 😀 I mean, I dig entertaining, which is why I love S4, because while it had a bad plot, it was still fun. S7 bored me and annoyed me. 🙁

This is a great point. Season 6 had all of our characters acting incredibly selfish and immature. When Giles calls Willow a "rank, arrogant, amataur" I think he's completely legit in saying so. Since Giles in Buffy's father figure, without him around, she lacks in the guidance she so desperately needed then.
Question for you: If Giles hadn't left, do you think Buffy would have chosen to start a sexual relationship with Spike? Personally, I doubt it.

I think that Buffy and Angel never really knew each other, and that they never shared such a deep bond as Cordelia and Angel did. Cordy was Angel best friend, and knew him better than anybody (especially after she'd been a higher power), Bangel was just a teenage crush, and I really don't think they belong together. They both deserve better. Don't kill me. 😀
Oh, and I'm only on season 4, so pleaaaaaseeee, don't say anything about how it goes for Cangel. 🙂

No, I don't think so. Buffy said herself, she was thinking about Giles. Him leaving weakened her even further, she was at rock bottom and desperate to feel something and Spike took advantage of/went along with that.
Oh Giles, if only you hadn't have left, I might never have poked my own eyes out with a spork.

I was watching some season 5 last night and again my constant annoyance with that season popped up - the whole "Summers blood" deal.

What?
I always felt that was very poorly written. All of a sudden Dawn is not only a mystical energy crafted into a human girl from God knows where by some monks but now she's also made out of Buffy?
And how exactly did they get a hold of Buffy's blood?
I mean even if you're siblings you don't necessarily have the same blood or blood type.
That just seemed hasty and not very believable to me even if I love the end of s5 and wouldn't want to change it.

Well what bugs me is - it might be true. Dawn is The Key plus Buffy's blood. Okay, cool. But how that means that Buffy can stop the portal is a bit beyond my reckoning. Certainly if bleeding Dawn opens the portal, then what it is dripping out of Dawn has to be, on at least some level, liquid Key-ness as opposed to, or in addition to, Summers blood. If the Doc had cut Buffy up there on the tower, would the portal have opened? It seems unlikely - otherwise Buffy is the Key just as much as Dawn is. So why is she able to close it?
If the Key had indeed been a shoe or something, would another shoe made from the same cowhide have been able to close the portal again? I don't get it.

Buffy and Dawn had the same blood, Dawn was made out of Buffy which meant Buffy could close the portal. That's how i looked upon the process and i never questioned what i was viewing. I found it clever writing.
