I get everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I don't understand this. Andy Hallet had a beautiful voice. I'm not into any of the music he sang on AtS, but I always enjoyed listening to him sing.

Yeah, thats why i posted it, because its an unpopular opinion ?
I love Andy Hallet and Lorne, he was a great actor. 🙂
But I personally just didn't like his voice, and I do know others who have agreed. But thats just my opinion.

I never understood why people had more sympathy for Faith when she wanted to torture and kill a chained up Buffy with knives and scapels compared to Marci who wanted to mutilate a tied up Cordelia with knives and scapels. Or why people consider Warren an evil rapist for messing with his ex-girlfriend's brain and then planning on having sex with her but most don't think badly of Willow for messing with her girlfriend's brain and not long after having sex with her while she sings, "I'm under your spell".

There was more time spent with Faith. That's the reason which came to mind. I'm not saying that I had any sympathy for her then, though.

I pretty much hated everyone in season 6 except for Anya, Tara, and Giles. Willow's memory spell was inexcusable. I didn't think that most thought otherwise though. 😕

If most fans thought what Willow did was inexcusable or at the same level as what Warren did to Katrina I doubt so many people would've been so happy that Tara took Willow back. Infact, there are still a lot of fans that don't have a single bad thing to say about Willow and think Tillow was the perfect healthy relationship.

Ah, true. (It's 4:30am so my thinking's not so sharp. 😉)

I have sympathy for Faith because I come from a similar place in life and can easily see how she took the path she did, some of my friends have, and all I can say is that when you care for someone (even a fictional character) after the initial upset or rage simmers down, compassion takes over.
So I have a lot of compassion for Faith, doesn't mean that I necessarily agree with her actions, but I understand where she's coming from and thinks she has every right to try and redeem herself

Macie showed no sign of remorse and became a government assassin, seeming excited about the idea. Faith on the other hand felt horrible about what she had done and turned herself into the police despite the fact that she could have walked out at any time.

I thought crazysoulless was talking about just when each thing took place. The part I bolded I agree with.

while there were a few episodes at the beginning of his series and a few episodes at the end of it i never really cared for Angel on his own...even now with the passage of time i haven't warmed up to the show. I wish the whole series hadn't happened.

not so true for buffy tho. she became one of my favorite characters the moment i first heard of "her" when she was just a quick soundbite about an upcoming movie starring kristie swanson and luke perry.

of course there were things i liked and didn't like. initially i hated seeing high school end. i liked riley as a character for a split second and it just went downhill. over all i felt season four to be the weakest of the seasons...but recently re watching it theres still so much to like. the characters make a good transition from teen ager to young adult. i always thought the vampire "sunday" would have been a fun arch nemesis for more than her one episode. without season four there wouldn't have been a season five...or six or seven.

it wasn't so while the entire series aired...even after they started hooking up...but i hated spike at first. i kept waiting for the moment buffy would finally get fed up with him and just stake him. once again with the changing of time i just love the guy oodles. he's my blondie bear.

season five was my favorite of all the seasons. i just loved glory and how they built up to her. i warmed up to dawn quickly. i think season five is buffys peak season.

principal flutie getting eating alive by rabid were students is hysterical. snyder provided buffy with loathsome nemesis relief but i always kind of thought it would have been a funny running joke if each new dean of students ends up getting eaten or killed or vamped then dusted every dozen or so episodes...

i hated that larry died at graduation. i know its silly but as a gay man i just loved this character. in his brief moments he was funny, ironic and exactly the kind of football player that *should have* gone to my high school. i loved that during "the Wish" when everything was in a state of alternate reality he was one of the white hats.

BS1: -Season 1 was one of the best seasons imo. In good to bad episode ratio it's gotta be better than S2.
-Innocence is not when the show hit it's stride, it was Prophecy Girl.
BS2: -Highly overrated. Like someone else said, the overall story arc was fantastic, but God, it had some duds.
-Ted is a brilliant episode.
-Kendra's death was one of the saddest deaths imo. It was really the first death that made Buffy realize these are the kind of things that are going to happen for the rest of her life.
-It's disgusting what Xander did in Becoming...
BS3: -Next to AS3, it's the hardest season to stop watching.
-Buffy should've killed Faith. She deserved to die.
-Grad. Day Pt. 2, while awesome, is highly overrated. I'm aware that it was 1999 when this was shot, but The Mayor in snake form is just god awful...
-"Fire bad, tree pretty" is one of the stupidest, corny lines in all of the Whedonverse.
BS4: -Sure, there were some duds, but overall, most epys were entertaining.
-Riley is amazing.
-Adam is a phenomenal Big Bad.
-The last fight scene is the best fight scene in Buffy.
BS5: -Really blah... Not really that amazing.
-If you didn't feel anything when Joyce died, you have no soul. Or maybe you don't have a mother or grandmother who acts the same as Joyce. I mean no offense with this statement, but it blows my mind that some people didn't care that Joyce died.
-Glory was great, the actress was not.
-"Ben is Glory" is one of the funniest things that happened in the Buffyverse.
-Buffy dying doesn't touch me very much... That could be because I watched S6 before S5 though...
-Willow attacking Glory gives me goosebumps. For many reasons.
BS6: -Best. Season. Ever.
-I feel so terrible for Spike. Buffy completely used him.
-I stopped feeling sorry after he tried to rape her.
-Anya is such a bitch! Everything she did in Entropy was below the belt.
-Dark Willow was one of the best villains. Some lines were cheesy, but the character was amazing.
-Warren is evil. I hate him with a fiery passion. He deserved to die!
BS7: -Before the potentials = Fantastic!
-After the potentials = Okay.
-I sincerely like Wood.
-Spike's storyline doesn't measure to any other storyline in S7.
-Anya's death, while not cry-worthy, was one of the saddest deaths in the 'verse.
-Buffy was right, everyone else was wrong. They should've talked instead of kicking her out of her own house after she's done so much for all of them.

i don't like Angel's shoes. the guy is gorgeous and usually well clad (expect in my avatar:tongue3🙂, but what on earth are these SHOES! and are they really shoes, anyway!

i don't undestand fred/wesley

i liked the mummy girl and didn't want Buffy to kill her

i want Lilah back!

LOL@'I don't like Angel's shoes'! I've never noticed, but I'll have to look now! :D
More for anyone that cares about my friggin long posts 😛

Tillow is, bar none, the greatest relationship in all of the Whedonverse. Well, I'm now considering Echo/Ballard (Echard?) as one of the best. 😛

I wanted Xander to wup Warren's ass SOOOOO bad!
AS1: -Doyle's death was heartbreaking, no doubt, but I still don't think he has the saddest death in the 'verse.
-I miss Doyle so much 🙁 Seriously, I'm a lot like Cordelia when someone brings him up in a conversation. Idk if that's unpopular or not.
-I believe the show really hit it's stride when Lindsay started becoming a regular.
-Somnambulist is one of the greatest episodes of all time.
AS2: -Pylea > Dangel
-I was extremely bored with Angel's leaving.
AS3: -Does it really have to be this depressing? Really?
-That Old Gang of Mine is a great episode. Anyone who says J. August Richards is a bad actor can go kill themselves. 😛
-This is the hardest season to stop watching, even if it is super depressing all the time.
-Holtz can go suck a dick. And making me feel such an emotion makes him one of the best Big Bads.
AS4 -The best season of Angel. Bar none.
-Gwen should've had a lot more screen time. I'm glad she plays more of a part in AtF.
AS5 -Black Thorn was WAY too rushed.
-Fresley deserves to be together.
-Fred > Illyria. I was quite bored with Illyria storylines.
-Not Fade Away is probably the best finale of the Whedonverse. Extremely action-packed. The way finales should be.
-Why didn't Illyria and Wes like team up and kill two baddies? Why was Wes sent to die? He should've been hopped up on magicks or something...
-Spike was just fine. I would say I prefer Cordy, but idk if I really do. Cordy was great when she was on the show, but Spike was perfect for S5.

one thing i've always had a problem with was xander getting away with summoning sweet to sunnydale in "once more with feeling".

now don't get me wrong. this is probably my favorite episode of the entire series...certainly one of the most popular but in the middle of his best friend slowly giving in to the dark side of magic and after everything faith went through...why did xander get away with an act that caused the deaths of several citizens of sunnydale? no time spent with wiccan healing circles, no hard time, no guilt or remorse, no bad consequences. i know he didn't mean to...but then neither did faith when she accidentally staked the mayors assistant...yet she went to prison. granted willow went way, waaay over the line but when you think about it...she really only killed one guy (warren) who if there's a case for moral ambiguity he's it. granted he tried to kill buffy (and almost succeeded) but taras death was as much a mishap as was the staking of the mayors assistant...as were the deaths of people who danced to death for mr.sweet.

get where i'm going with this?

It's entirely possible that Buffy and Co. never found out about the deaths Sweet caused. We never saw a scene where they saw someone burn...
I agree that Xander got off too easily.

Faith didn't go to prison for killing Mr. Finch. People understood that one and forgave her. She willingly murdered that professor in Graduation Day #2 and then beat up and stole from people in Sunnydale and Los Angeles.

Willow killed two humans. Warren and Rack. And almost killed six and a half billion humans.

I agree that Willow got off light getting to have a wondeful summer with women who were just like Tara learning about magicks. But she needed to go there since she was the most powerful witch in the world but had never bothered to learn the basic tenets of the Craft. She was past the point where she could be contained in even a magickal prison. She had to learn the proper way that magick and spells were supposed to be used. To have a respect for the natural order of the universe.

Huh! First of all, Xander didn't do that with any bad intentions. And we know a few peoples died, but Sweet killed them, not Xander. They never really put much importance on all that, but I bet Xander apologized afterward(we just didn't see it).

Second thing, it doesn't compare to Faith at all... Yes she didn't kill the Mayor's Assistant on purpose, but instead of admitting and taking the blame, she denied it, lied to Giles and told him it was Buffy, and she also denied her own emotions. After that she killed an innocent man willingly(like Crazy said). She helped the Mayor(again willingly) to complete his ascension which would mean the death of a LOT of peoples. Then you got the body swap, the beating(killing?) of peoples in L.A. Torturing Wesley... Xander doesn't even come close to that.

As for Willow, if you take out the 'destroying the world' part, which was over the top if you ask me 😛 She killed two mans, one who was a murderer, the other not much better(we don't know what Rack really did in the end). Then she tried to kill two MOSTLY innocent guys, and started to threaten her own friends. All that partly because of grief and sadness, but she still did it willingly, it wasn't like something was possessing her(as could be said of Angel as Angelus).

That's my take on it. You just can't compare Xander to these two.

I agree with Zalos.

Sweet killed the people. If you want to blame Xander for what Sweet did, then that's like blaming Buffy for what Angel did. And Spike. And all of the vamps she let get away without staking them immediately. It's not really the same thing at all.

Faith & Willow directly killed people. Xander summoned a demon by accident.

And to get a little technical, the point of the episode wasn't Xander making a mistake or going off the deep end. It was music. 😛

Xander's actions were accidental. It's kind of like if someone hired a magician to perform at a party and then later it turns out that the magician was a serial killer.
Faith intentionally turned to the dark side. She knew that her actions were going to hurt a lot of people and she still did it.
Willow's judgment was compromised when she did all those bad things. People can't be held completely responsible for things they did when their judgment has been compromised. They can really only be held responsible for the act of knowingly and voluntarily taking substances that alter their judgment.

well I'll never hire a magician again... *shivers* ;)
I'm so sick of people comparing Willow to Faith. Faith killed a person, tortured Wesley, tried to kill Angel multiple times, and tried to end the world. All Willow did was kill Warren, who thoroughly deserved pain and vengeance, and she killed Rack, who was a... junkie. Both people she killed were evil (is Rack considered evil?). Faith killed for the fun of it, Willow killed for vengeance. (and you have to take into account that Willow was all hopped up on magicks too, Faith was completely sober)

Until reading some of the replies to this thread, I completely forgot Wesley died. That's how much I didn't care for the character.
Fred/Gunn > Fred/Wesley
Giles > Wesley
Bubonic Plague > Wesley
...

Willow has to be my all time favorite character; I can relate to her in every single season. Screw the Willow hate 😛

And DarkWillow is a close runner up in my favorite Big Bads. The Mayor being my favorite.

Nothing against homosexuals, and I loved Tara, but I hated GayWillow. Woz <3

I hated Angel when he was on Buffy; greatly prefered him on his own show. Same goes for Cordelia.
Hate, hate, hate Bangel, yet "I Will Remember You" is my favorite Angel episode 😛

If I could have things my way, Cangel and Spuffy all the way.

I hated Riley, but then again from what I've read that's not really an unpopular opinion.

Primeval and Restless are two of my favorite episodes from Season 4. Maybe it was just at the IMdB boards, but Primeval seems to get a lot of hate. I don't understand why :[

This is a cool thread. 🙂

My favorite character is Cordelia. Ok I know a lot of people like her, but I don't think a lot of people consider her their favorite.

Cangel is my favorite relationship out of both shows.

I did not like Ats season 4 at all. I guess that's probably obvious since I'm a huge Cordy fan, but the fact that the real Cordy was gone pretty much all season just didn't sit well with me at all. Plus Connelia and the whole Jasmine thing"¦ Angelus, Faith, and Willow were the only good parts of the season for me. Oh, and Spin the Bottle is one of my favorite eps ever. 😀

I don't feel strongly one way or the other about Spuffy. Disliked it in season 6, liked it a lot better in season 7. But I'm really not sure if Buffy ever truly loved Spike"¦

As much as I love Cangel, I liked Buffy best with Angel. But I honestly didn't love her with anyone she dated.

Dawn annoyed the crap out of me, for the most part.

While I absolutely loved Cangel and Xanya, I adored Cander while it lasted.

I've only seen most of the Buffy episodes one time, so this might change if I did a rewatch, but I tend to like the high school years most. The later seasons do have some really great stuff too tho.

I didn't like gay Willow. Woz was the cutest. 🙂

I loved Dark Willow, but Vampire Willow was cooler.

I LOVED everything about Faith.

I'm sure I'll think of more"¦
