Unpopular rants,opinions and confessions

I have another couple:
-In the last 4 episodes of BS6, Xander was the only character I could really relate with. Warren's death was excusable and for good reason, but then she went on a rampage... And Buffy was all "Don't kill humans. That's my only goal here." Xander was just "idk what's going on, but I'm gonna have some trouble with it, and then figure out that I need to fix this some how." He reacted pretty much exactly like I would've reacted.
-Words can't explain how much I dislike the change from revisiting-high-school-years to potentials in S7. I don't mind the potentials at all. Hell I like some of them in S8 (Sansu, Renee, Kennedy), it's just that the first half of S7 was absolutely amazing, and the only great episodes in the second half had nothing to do with the potential storyline (ie: Storyteller, Lies...).

-Sometimes, I don't know whether to support Wolfram and Hart or not. Lilah and Lindsey (and even Gavin to an extent) are just such awesome characters.

I agree, except about Gavin! Damn, I was expecting so much more than what he turned out to be :(

Hah, sorry guys D:
Much love and respect for Wesley fans though? 😀

^Not accepted 🙂 lol
@Zalos: I completely agree. He could've been a huge "player" as Lilah always puts it.

Sorry guys, but I gotta get these off my chest. I'm watching Buffy and Angel at this very moment and this stuff just keeps popping into my head.
-I am SOOO sick of characters not being able to differentiate between good and evil. You'd think by the end of AS5 characters would finally get the gist of "Angel is not the same person as Angelus" "Having a soul doesn't make you good automatically, but being soulless usually does" "SOME DEMONS ARE GOOD!!!!" This last one pisses me off the most. I'm sorry Joss, and I love you still, but it really seems like you're kicking the audience in the head with these storylines. We all understand that some demons are good!!!! Get over it writers/Xander!!! (Seriously count up every storyline that has to do with demons and morality in the Buffyverse. I just counted 5 without hardly thinking at all)
-AS4/BS7 are the most entertaining to watch side-by-side. Both seasons compliment eachother so well.
-I'm really kind of getting sick of AS4 haters too. The overall arc is effing (yes I said it) solid as hell. I just watched A4.1 and I couldn't rip my eyes off it, even after seenig it about 3 times! Yeah, Cordy's character gets screwed, but honestly, what would you have rather had happen? I think it'd be weird if Cordy was in AS4. Her sarcastic and humorous mood just doesn't fit. Angel/Gunn/Fred with a little Wes/Lorne on the side is absolutely perfect for this season. Imo Cordy woulda ruined it.
-EDIT: Justine should've been in AtF. Or at least been a section in First Night.
-EDIT2: (OMG I can't stop writing!!) I'm watching BS7 right now, and I think it just moved to #2 on my list. It didn't top S6 just because of the crappy character development (of the potentials).

Jeez, it's like I get more and more upset every post I make in this thread!
I actually am really curious as to what you guys think of these 3 statements, so leave a reply or reputation if you wanna make me all giddy inside! 😛

I absolutely love Ats4 too, I love watching all the ep's in a row, BUT when it was on tv it was at times a bit hard and exhausting to follow because the ep's are so entwined with each other

I think that AtS S4 is underrated, but I was annoyed how much Cordy was screwed over. And with your top two seasons being 6 and then 7, you're pretty much my polar opposite. :)

I think I would have left LA and never come back (after the events of Deep Down) if I were her. It would have been interesting to see her and post-"Origin" Connor meet though.

Sorry, i'm one of the people you're getting sick of. 😛 Actually, I really wouldn't say I hate season 4. I mean yeah there was some major stuff I strongly disliked, but there were some things that I really did like. I don't see how Cordy would have ruined the season, but hey that's just me. Besides, if they had decided to have the real Cordy throughout the season, it would have taken a different direction anyway, so she probably wouldn't have seemed out of place. It intrigues me how polarizing this season seems to be, and I think it really does come down to Cordy. Those who like Cordy tend not to like the season as a whole, and those who dislike her or are indifferent toward her tend to enjoy it more. That's not exclusive of course, but it seems to be the general consensus from what I've seen. Which makes sense, considering what was done with her character. Anyway, just an observation. 🙂

I was disappointed in the way that Angel reacted (little compassion) towards that old man that stole his body. I mean, he was Faith's white knight defender after she stole Buffy's body, let her get drugged tied up chained up and taken away to be tortured and killed, and had SEX in Buffy's body. With the old man he was just indifferent and saw him as a human MOTW.

When I watch scenes with Lindsey I think, "You were almost cast as Buffy's boyfriend Riley!"

I one hundred percent supported Xander in Hells Bells.

with Faith it was different...the old man was evil...Faith was lost, desperate for being loved...
I was kinda scared of Pro-Cordy people comin in here. 🙂 I guess my whole thing is that I LOVE the overall arc, and I don't want it to change. 🙂 Of course, if Cordy was in that season it would've changed I wouldn't've known what The Beast or Jasmine was... but now I'm getting into the butterfly effect, so I'm done. lol

@crazysoulless: I don't necessarily support Xander's leaving Anya, but if Anya could've handled it better, I would've totally been okay with it. However, Xander should've told Anya about his fears before the wedding also.

I never really thought about your point about Angel and the old man... Hmmm... Interesting. 🙂

OMG!!!!! Did I just hear angels singing "Hallelujah"?! Someone who actually agrees that Xander did the right thing in "Hells Bells"?!
I was sorry that it hurt Anya so deeply, but I supported it, too. After all, he had his doubts before the demon showed up to trick him. It wouldn't have been fair to marry Anya in the state of mind he was in at the time.

I can agree that if he had those doubts he shouldn't have married her.
BUT he should have said something sooner. That was just an awful thing for him to do. I mean I understand him and I support that he was smart enough to not go through with it. But there's a time and a place and push comes to shove he really could have handled it better.

So I support Anya's pain and anger towards him after it just as much.
(it sucks when you wanna see both characters happy and they want different things. 🙁)

I don't think that the doubts he was having were more than just normal wedding jitters before the demon pulled the trick on him. I think he had more insecurities about himself as a husband and in a marriage due to the environment he grew up in but I don't think they were at a point where he needed to speak to Anya about them beforehand.

Once the demon had played with his insecurities and he'd seen them physically enacted before his eyes that when the realisation that he couldn't actually go through with it hit him. And unfortunately it was too late for him to address them with Anya before the wedding by that point because it wasn't until the day that the demon turned up.

I love that while he is telling Anya how he feels, he can see his father yelling at his mother in the background. I found that more heartbreaking than Anya finding out they weren't getting married.

I'm really a nice person, I swear. 😉 I definitely see where you're coming from, and I can't blame you for liking the arc. I really think I would have loved the storyline if it happened to someone I cared less about. lol. 😛 Because really it is a good arc, apart from what it did to Cordy. Here's an alternative yet similar storyline I would have preferred: At the end of Spin the Bottle, Cordy's memory is returned and Jasmine is "awakened" or whatever, but she can't take full control over Cordy right away. Instead, she slowly builds up power, so that Cordy is herself most of the time, but she has blackouts or just gaps in time that she doesn't remember, which are the moments when Jasmine had control over her. After a while Jasmine would gain full control over her, but at least that would leave some true Cordy moments throughout the season where she was unaware of the evil she was involved in. If that makes sense, lol. It's probably lame, but it's just something I thought of, and it's actually kind of what I thought was going when I first found out Cordy was possessed.

TheVoid6, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that. 🙂 That could have been a good way to preserve both the character and the storyline, imo.

I like your ideas, but like I said I just think Cordy brings the wrong vibe to AS4. But whatevs, we can disagree for days on end. :)
Another:
-Things like Spangel and Fuffy are disgusting imo. They would never EVER happen in any sort of canon.

And this is why I love the Buffy (or Whedon really) fandom. Unlike another other fandom people can disagree and debate on so many things, but when push comes to shove, Buffy fans always get along. (Well the obvious exception is internet-noobs who think everything they hate needs to be debated about. Yeah, that was me a couple years ago)

I disagree but don't want to take away reps. I LOVE Spangel and Fuffy. I so wanted them to be cannon. But for Faith to stay away from Buffy's men.

Agree completely about Spangel and Fuffy.. I can see where Fuffy could come off as canon, but Spangel just seems so farfetched to me
Anya had doubts too according to her song in Once More, With Feeling 😛 But I definitely understood Xander and wasn't upset with him. It just sucks for Anya 🙁

Definitely. I've always seen it as a true testament to Xander's character that despite all of that he became the person that he did. I always say that I don't care for anyone but Giles by the end, but even though I feel Xander is pushed aside in the last season I think he's actually one of the only characters who I like. And despite a couple of lapses in judgement he's pretty solid all the way through and maybe I should show some more Xander love.

And considering I'm in this thread I can also add that I never really got what was so great about Anya. I liked her and she was hilarious but I wasn't ever particularly invested her.

I agree on your Anya comment. She's great and all, but there was no emotional attachment really. Her death was extremely heartbreaking though; just the way she died.

i agree about Anya although she did have her moments
Alright, sorry about my comment about Fuffy and Spangel guys. That was kinda harsh. To restate: Imo, Fuffy and Spangel are gross. 🙂

Confession: After watching more than about 4 episodes of anything-Whedon in a row, I tend to laugh at little dialogue a LOT more. Especially in the earlier episodes of each season.

No worries. You can think about any ships as in disgusting. It's your opinion. :)
To be honest, I wasn't that sympathetic to Anya in that episode. I mean, she chose to became a vengeance demon (still with a soul) and torture, mutilate, and murder thousands upon thousands of innocent humans. And when she became human again she tried to get her powers back and when that didn't happen she latched onto Xander (I think she did love him though) and only supported the Scooby Gang because he was part of it. While I think she was changing and helping because it was the right thing to do it didn't stop her from showing absolutely ZERO remorse for her actions as a demon. She would brag about the way she used to hurt people. That man that showed up in Hells Bells seeking revenge was transformed into a demon, sent to a dimension to be tortured for years, and then killed because he went after the person that hurt him. I hated that Anya tried to kill Xander when she became a vengeance demon again. That is more than just "she was hurting". All she saw was her own pain and completely ignored why he called off the wedding and was willing to torture Xander to make herself feel better. Imagine if any of the "wishes" she tried to put on him actually worked.

I love watching the character Anya (and Emma Caufield) but I have very little empathy for her and was not saddened that she died. I think she cosmically had it coming. A handful of years on the good side hardly makes up for over 1000 years torturing humanity.

Alright, sorry about my comment about Fuffy and Spangel guys. That was kinda harsh. To restate: Imo, Fuffy and Spangel are gross. 🙂

I think you might have made a little typo there. You said "gross" when I'm sure you must have meant "steam-crackingly hot".

Seriously, what's the problem with Fuffy? Or Spangel for that matter?

So many comments about Xander and Anya that I agree a lot with!

I felt more sorry for Xander in Hell's Bells than Anya. Anya only suffered in the end, Xander on the other hand was suffering throughout the episode. Not to mention, it was Anya's past coming back to bite her on the ass for what she had done to those men for centuries. And how disgusting was Anya when she wished that Xander should never exist. She never tried to understand why he did what he did, only focused on her pain. I understand hating Xander after what had done to her, but it doesn't excuse going back to being a demon and wishing the man all those disgusting things.

idk I just think that they'd ever happen in Joss's world. And I just can't even imagine Spike, Angel, Buffy, or Faith thinking those thoughts. For the record, it's not a homophobia thing, I think Xuffy is gross too.

I think Xuffy is gross too.

Aww, a relationship blossoming from a strong friendship? I can't see that as gross. Perhaps not interesting to some fans, but gross? 🙁

Seems I'm the only Xander/Spike shipper in this board, so that's probably an unpopular opinion. I think Xander and Spike have an awesome dynamic and have a lot to learn from each other, not to mention the snark!
