I don't care if VD copies Buffy as long as it is a good copy, which it is!

Nicely put.
I completely agree. A lot of people are saying they're similar to Buffy/Angel, but their relationship as a whole, not just this scene, is really so much different because the characters are different.
I've never watched TVD so if you watch the scenes like this back to back, from my point of view it looks pretty dang similar. Not just the words, but the close up and intensity! True, I have no emotional investment in the VD characters...... and I cried my heart out in IWRY.
Having said that, I just watched it twice and I laughed out loud after Stefan says "I love you". CHEESE! 😱 *throwing hands over face to block TVD diehards backlash* LOL
Vampire in love with a human girl? That's in literally every vampire show.
Now about the pulling it off better I don't know if I agree. David as much as I love him wasn't the best actor ever in the early seasons of Buffy (he did well but there was room for improvement especially with emotional scenes) where as Paul already has such great talent they are around the same ages oddly I think when they started.
I'd have to disagree... I've seen clips of that guy acting, and I just find it to be too over-done. Like the "Close your eyes" scene, it took him like 10 seconds to finally reply. Like what was with that long dramatic pause? I think David's acting is a lot more smooth and natural, and he gets to the point. 😛
I don't think it was him who decided to say it later but regardless I still think Paul does better especially for being early. Usually you have to deal with the actors not being so good when they are first in their roles and I never had to deal with that regarding Paul imo. David as much as I love him the more time goes on I think some of his early acting wasn't that great.I'd have to disagree... That is it right there exactly one of the big reasons. Paul pulls it off so well and just makes you feel for him. Some of David's scenes early on made it seem like he was trying to hard or didn't know what to do so you end up feeling more of Buffy's pain because Sarah was already at a good stage by that point. Back to point but yes I agree 100%. It also may have to do with the fact that is an actor is supposed to be crying and I don't see tears on a seriously emotional moment I don't get into half as much.I think that's the beauty in Paul's acting. David never had the ability to make me cry. Most scenes in TVD that I cry on while watching is where Stefan doesn't say anything.. they just zoom in his crying face, and all the words other actors would have to say are there. It breaks my heart.
I wouldn't say that regarding me I won't speak for PrincessBuffy but it is hard to explain. There is nothing worse than watching a television show and a emotional moment and the actor not really having any emotion. Does that make sense? Sometimes David couldn't portray the proper emotion or when he did it seemed a little over-dramatic thankfully he found his stride. So yes I would say basing it on both of the scenes Paul was a better actor. Do I think he is a better actor overall? Don't know yet he hasn't been around as long as David so it is hard to tell but just from those two scenes if I had to choose I would choose Paul.So because David didn't make you cry, he's a worse actor than the other guy? :S
