Were you unhappy with Anya's death?

I was horrified that Anya even died and then to kill her off the way she did, i mean the first time i watched it i didnt even know she had died until i saw her at thend because they only gave her a 2 second shot but then wood gets like 10mins and he dont even die. Ever since jennys death all othr deaths, apart from buffys have been crap, unromantic and unheroic- i mean look at Tara, buffys mum, molly, Anya, even spikes actual death didnt look good, it made him look weak because his bones crumbled, its just not on at all!!! lol

Anya's death was short. Wich did make me mad. But it was talked about after. Xander and Andrew talked about it.

Did you see what happened? I mean, was she...

(looks at Xander) She was incredible. She died saving my life.

Andrew smiles a little. Xander walks away toward Buffy.

I thik Andrew had a big respect for Anya after that. She saved his life. And she was very heroic.

I do think they should of given Anya a longer time though it was just snap Anya's dead.

I was sad that Anya died, of course I was.. But someone had to die, someone important, and it couldn't be Buffy, Willow, Xander or Giles.. (And if Dawn died it would've been too hard for Buffy to live after that..)
I actually like the way she died, I like the way all deaths have happened. Ok, I hated them all when I first watched them.. But still, I think it's great that they've made it so simple, that makes it harder to accept and maybe that's good when it comes to deaths..?

Ok...the way Anya died...it was...horrible, and graphic...and...obviously...I cant really say undeserved, because at the end of the day, no one deserved to die anyway...except Warren...(piece of poo)

I *hated* that Anya died...obviously it made me cry...and it shocked me so much, but its not the fact that she died as much as the fact that NO ONE acknowledged her death apart from Xander and Andrew, all we get is so bleedin' crappy 'Thats my girl' thing...HELLO!? Ex-Fiance!! You think she'd get more than that!

And, I know Buffy, Dawn and Faith werent 'as close' to Anya as say Xander, Giles or Willow, but PLEASE, they could've said SOMETHING about her!!! For crying out loud! Its all about bleedin Spike! Who gives a poo about him!? Ok...people do...

But URRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
No one ever acknowledged Anya, and she was sweet, and beautiful, funny, newly human and strangely literal...

I think what made the death so ... repugnant ... was that it happened so suddenly. Much like Tara's death, it happened in a flash. You would've missed it if you were to have blinked your eye at that exact moment. That's why I was unhappy ... but then again, that's how death in the real world is like, too. I mean, real life people don't get to have 10 minute goodbye messages before they 'pass on'. I don't know, now I'm rambling ... I'll stop.

Honestly, I liked the way Anya's (and Spike's for that matter) death.

Anya was always a side type of character. She was nice, and sweet, had great lines, provided useful information on demonies, but never really did anything heroic - unless Xander got in it (The Gift)

Her death was what I thought, was her redeeming herself for vengeance days. It was probably stupid, but more importantly heroic. She saved someone's life she didn't care for and didn't really know. She knew Andrew had killed Jonathon and had been "evil" but I think she recognized why he was those things and that he had a right to live. I thought that was sort of admirable.

I even liked how they did it. The short, simple shot of the blade reaching from shoulder to waist and then her not being on the bus. I don't know how, but I think it was Anya-esque. Anya was known for being more blunt about things than any of the other characters, and I find her death to being saying the same.

Just my opinion. I still love Anya, always have, and always will.

But it's like that with most of the deaths, except Joyce's. I said I "liked" the way Anya died, and that's true.When I saw Anya being killed, it took me a while before I realized what happened, since it was so quick.. I stopped breathing and was like "did I really see that happen..?!". And then I actually thought I must've seen wrong .. Until we see her really being dead.. I like that it wasn't a big scene.
But I agree with you and I hate that no one except Xander even asks about Anya. They don't say a thing although they've known her for almost five years.. It's a little bit the same with Tara, but then they at least notice.. Now they don't even..

Someone had to die horrifically to show they were in a battle to the possible death, rather then the run of the mill battle. Just a shame it was Anya. It was Emma who wanted her dead anyway so thats why she died.

I think people shouldn't complain that she wasn't acknowledged at the end of Chosen as we saw about three minutes after the battle, Buffy looked like she was feeling numb and I'd imagine she was. I'm sure afterwards when it all sunk in they would of grieved.

I don't really think it works like that.. Sure, maybe they all cried for three hours when they stopped filming, but I think they should have acknowledged her death in the show.. To show that the characters really cared..

Its not about whether they 'grieved' after because, at the end of the day, there was no after...its a TV show, and when they stopped filming, nothing else happened...

Which is why Im so angry that they didnt give the Anya fans a teeny bit of...I dunno, happiness, cuz their favourite character had just died, and no one acknowledged it...
I would've been happy if Giles, or Willow or Dawn or anyone *not* Xander or Andrew would've said 'Anya'...Im not saying there had to be some big huge speech about her...just ya know...acknowledgement....

On someway though it think it was a good thing that SOMEONE on the show didnt die a heroic death (which Anya didnt really, she fought and she fell... *cries*) but the way tht they handled this great character's death afterwards made me puke.. (well almoust) I actually thought that Xander's comment about Anya after her death was kinda touchy, since I hadnt expected him to just fall down into tears (which he actually almoust did, searching for Anya as the building collapsed).

But the deal with Spike and he was "the great big hero" kinda bugged me a lot. Sure, he was the one that kinda did the clean up but in the end it was like it was just Spike's battle and stuff... But it wasnt.... Everyone had worked together to get there... And then Spike just kinda took all the credit and stuff... OK, It sounded a bit more extreme than I thought but I hope you get my point (Im not a souled or chipped Spike fan so... I just want my Spike evil 😛)

I read up on the 'Chosen' commentary by Joss, and said something like, he couldnt kill the core-four (Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles) and couldnt kill Dawn either...so it had to be Anya...

I dont think any of the writers seem to understand its not about the fact that Anya died, its how it was dealt with!!!

I think he showed more compassion when Willow told him and Buffy that Tara had died...some could argue that his reaction to Tara's death was due to shock, but if thats the case, he would've certainly been shocked when he knew that Anya had either died, or had been left in Sunnydale High (as he didnt really find out until Andrew told him) it would've meant it took him one 2 minute bus-ride to get over the shock?

ok Lee. Anya did Die a Hero. I'm a big Spike fan so I really just looked at the Spike part of that Ep. But Really Ayna did Prob. the most she did saving the world as best as she chould and the lest thay chould do was say something about her. More then Just Andrew and Xander. I mean She was a scobby for a long time since the End of Season 3 till S7. But all excpet for Xander and Willow left the Scobbys. Anya never did. She Should of been in Higher Thought form the Scobbys. Now I'm geting mad. Hpoe you guys unstand What I'm saying.

Death is a funny thing, you react in a way you cant control. I've only ever "lost" (silly euphamism IMO) one family member and I just sat there, not crying or anything. Maybe him losing Joyce was his first death, so he reacted badly, Tara he seemed more numb. He wouldn't of got over it in that two minutes, he went from auto fight, to auto run, to auto doctor and im sure he would of cried later. Plus who wants to remember the last few minutes of Xander with him crying.

Just a thought, wonder what crying with one eye is like.
