What are your pet peeves?

What if the 15 year has an alcoholic father that has beaten him? What if the 12 year old's mother died of cancer caused primarily by smoking?
Just because someone is young doesn't mean they haven't experienced anything. You say you don't like people patronising you, yet you still patronise people who are younger than you by saying they can't understand something. The child with the alcoholic father whose been domestically abused understands drinking and it's harmful effects, possibly better than you do.What you have said is a massive generalisation.

And it's spelt 'authoritative' according to this website: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/authoritative

I did say people that don't have the life experience. I was using the age brackets as a generalisation, and because I've just had my neice's 12 year old friends lecturing me about drinking on my 21st birthday where I had five pints of cider over a period of 7 hours.

Lol, I'd probably lecture somebody about drinking/smoking, too. 😀 But really, it's just because we want to keep you guys safe. 🙂 Sometimes an "Unexperienced" opinion is the best. 😀 (Plus, in my unexperienced mind, alcohol is really gross... Like coffee, only toxic. 😀 )

(Of course, I must admit... I hate little kids my age or younger that are smart alecks and try to tell me what's right/wrong, they think that they're so cool... But I'm also quite hypocritical. 😀 )

haha well I said the same thing as you when I was young. So things might change... never know
the "group walking" thing

the people who stop in the worst places (stairs, doors, ...) and talk there, so other people can't pass...id est the law of bunches: if any people have to form a bunch of people, they'll make it in the place where it can stop the more people, thus allowing the bunch to grow..(it sounds better in French, really!)

people we want things forbidden only because THEY don't use to do it (i can't stand quads, but i don't want them to be forbidden, as long as i don't have to use them).
and in the same family, people who want things to become obligations, because THEY like them.

and kids lecturing me!

any kind of cruelty to people or animals unable to defend themselves

bureaucraty

People who don't have the life experience to be talking about things in an authortattive (sp!) manner doing so. If you have an opinion, fine, but if you're only 10 talking about driving a car, 15 talking about drinking or 16 talking about gambling you can have an opinion on the matter but you won't know what it's really about, or understand it fully, until you can actively participate in it. And, for the love of god, don't patronise me/others. I find it really pathetic when a, for example, twelve year old starts lecturing me about smoking, because, at the end of the day, I won't be doing it around them (because I'm good at that, I'm a fairly considerate smoker as long as people don't treat me like scum because I smoke) and it should have a minimal impact on their lives.

Hm, forget what I said earlier. 😀 Like, for me, I WOULD lecture somebody on smoking/drinking because at my age I'm constantly learning all about the dangers of smoking and drinking, and how it ruins lives, etc. So then (some) of us get this terror of it, it's like a taboo, and we think that it's horrible. And then we don't get why adults do it, since, you know, toxins and death sticks. I guess the horror just fades over time once it stops getting preached to (hypothetical) you. 🙂

Then again, I know 6th graders (Ugh, most 6th graders annoy me...) who watch porn in their spare time and twelve year-olds who enjoy getting drunk. Times change. 😀

Also, people that openly stare at/laugh at/make comments at/about the disabled kids I work with. Even though some of these kids could be classed as "dangerous", they bring a joy to my life, my other co-workers lives and their parents. They're in secure facilities depending on their needs and would never be able to hurt anyone; so don't tell me they should be put down like dogs because they serve no purpose in this world.

&&breathe!

Yeah, nowadays (Since, like, a couple of months ago) I live by the quote "Live, and let live." For me, it seems like the best philosophy, pretty much for everything. 😀

Hm. Let's see. I guess that a lot of things annoy me. 😀 I don't like it when people overestimate me. I mean, at the end of the day, I AM a "Little Girl" (as much as I hate to admit it. 😀 ). That means that I will make a lot of mistakes, I will change my opinions all the time, I will be a complete hypocrite, and I WILL be VERY contradictory. Yup. That's me. And I'm not even a teen yet, so the worst years are yet to come. :biggrin3:

On that same thought, I don't like it when people underestimate. OK, really, I don't like to be "Estimated" in general (I mentioned the "Contradictory" thing, right? 😉 ). :biggrin3:

Misogyny is a big "NO" for me. 🙂 That always gets on my nerves... Using the word "B****" as a derogatory insult. On the same page, the word "Slut" or any form of it.

I have a lot of pet peeves :

When nobody in my household replaces the toilet paper roll! It's just pure laziness when that happens.

When drivers tail gate.

When kids don't stand up for adults on public transport.

When someone talks loud on their phone in public and you can hear the entire conservation. I especially hate it on public transport.

Tailgating is when you drive really close to the person in front, instead of leaving an appropriate amount of space between you and the car in front. I hope that makes sense.

I hate apologizing. Like, "Real" apologizing. If I make a small mistake then I'm fine with just tossing a quick "Sorry", but I can't make an actual genuine apology. :biggrin3: Luckily, I don't usually get myself into sticky situations where I'd need to apologize. 🙂

Romance gets on my nerves. So does crying. Which is totally hypocritical of me since I've always had a crying issue (Annoyingly enough, it's JUST like Bella Swan- Any negative emotion triggers my tear ducts. 😀 ), but whatever. Over-dramatic people also irritate me.

I hate spiders with a fiery passion. I have arachnophobia. The last time a spider crawled on me I had to take off all of my clothes and check my body to make sure it was gone and spent the rest of the day away from any walls and with my hair in a bun (my hair is long and curly so when it brushes against me during one of these episodes I freak out and think something is on me) and couldn't sleep at all. I'll think that every shadow or dark shape is an attack. I will have the visual of spiders when I close my eyes and sometimes think I am seeing them when my eyes are open even though the logical part of me knows I am really just seeing my memory bank visuals of spiders. I would NEVER recover if what happened to that guy in Nightmares happened to me. I will feel like something is crawling on me and sometimes even start scratching like someone going through drug withdrawl.

I hate it when people touch my hair. I'm so glad to have cut it off now because befoer complete strangers would come up to me in the subway and touch it.
Sure they'd compliment it but I'd still say ask before you start pawing on another person.
I hate it when people lack personal boundaries... *mutters*

Once a frien of mine touched my hair, and later that day a bird made a poo on her, so she thinks touching my hair= bad luck! :')
  • Folks who don't practice regular dental hygiene. I don't mean to sound shallow, but this is a very important factor for me when dating.
  • Poor grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Hypocrites
  • Poor drivers in general (tailgating, hydroplaining, cutting me off, especially SUVs and people using their cell phone)
  • Folks who don't do their own work (whether it be at a job or school work/people who expect everyone else to figure everything out for them so they can sit back and copy)
  • People who can't take jokes. I'm a pretty laid-back, joke-crackin' kinda gal, and I can't stand when people get an attitude when I obviously wasn't being serious.

guys who honk after you when they pass you by. Always drives me mad. What exactly are they trying to achieve? It's more irritating than flattering.

Two words: WINDOWS UPDATE

This should be appended to the O.E.D. as the penultimate definition of Gross Incomeptence.
Personally I'd say it is hovering on Gotesque Incompetence.

Every 2 days like clockwork, some new WU comes out to fix updates that they just had.
It used to be bad at a couple times a month, now it's simply out-of-control.
I just downoaded their latest. As soon as I finished, another was available, fixing the one I just downloaded.

This is a company that seriously needs to get its shit together.

I try to write and speak correctly and have always been quite good at it (I'm talking about swedish now, my english is far from perfect in the grammar and spelling department, I am aware of that 🙂). But it really annoys me when I (or someone else) do make a small grammar mistake and people correct me about it. If your debating something or trying to have a normal conversation with someone what friggin' difference does it make if you accidentally said "me" instead of "I"? That's not the point! The point was what I was saying! If that's your best argument, trying to correct me when I had a really good point to make, don't bother. And for me it's far more important that you are kind and considering than it is that you can spell kind and considering. 🙂

A pet peeve of mine I just saw is when the quotes are wrong at the main site. Simple errors sometime, like writing BtVS when it's actually suppose to be Ats, but sometimes it can be "bigger", for example the wrong character's name, or two quotes from two different people, written as if it was one quote.

I have a lot, I am not sure if it is OCD or something else, :]

I can't go to sleep angry.
I can't get to sleep hearing a ticking sound from a clock.
I can't ignore unknown / unread msgs.

So I hate it when I am at someone's place and their clock ticks, and I get a txt msg I know I can't read right now. hehe.

And I hate it when people go through fire to try and convince me their invalid argument of a topic they're completely ignorant about, is right, .. without knowing anything about what they are talking about. The stupidity of the situation is killing me.

To just name a few.
