What is the single most shocking moment in the Buffyverse?

I'd say after Xander losing an eye it has to be Spike trying to rape Buffy, it was horrible and completely shattered my image of Spike, it took me weeks to figure out how I felt about him.
 
The rape scene was for me I didn't think Spike would do that or Joss would write that but that's the thing he's showing us life isn't all happy it's real and scary. Also mine was Dawn, Buffy was always a only child then bam Dawn is there.

My shocking buffyverse moments had to be:
Giles finding Jenny - was so sad poor giles!
Joyce's death and pretty much the whole episode of 'the body' still shocks me now
Watching spike burn for the others in 'chosen' 🙁 and seeing sunnydale sink.
Buffy and tara getting shot - tara dying

Oh so many moments its hard to choose just the one.
 
To me? When I first watched it, Buffy stabbing Angel with the sword at the end of "State of Becoming, Pt. II"

OR

Giles showing up to fight Dark Willow. This was shocking in a good way though
 
For me it was actually an angel episode which I consider part of the buffyverse too. But when angel tries to suffocate wesley, that was pretty jaw dropping for me.

Personally, I think that BtVS didn't have many shocking moments. The only times I was really shocked was when Buffy found her dead mom on the couch, and when Warren shot Buffy and Tara.

On the other hand, Angel had a LOT more of those moments. Season four, for example, was packed with them and that's one of the reasons I loved it. When Lilah cut her boss' head in 'Deep Down', I was like WHAT THE F?! Same for when Fred tased Connor at the end of that episode... That was a small moment, but it was still really surprising.

Then you got the whole thing with The Beast. Following that, there was the episode 'Awakening' where you find out at the end that all of it was a dream, and Angelus is laughing at us, the spectators, for believing it. That was awesome!

You can't forget the end of 'Calvary', where Cordelia kills Lilah and it's revealed to us that she was the big bad all along. 😉

Faith drugging Angelus by letting him bite her, Spike coming back to life, Cordelia dying, Fred suddenly coughing blood in Wesley's face (that scene had me gasp the first time), Lorne killing Lindsey, ect.

As you can see, Angel had plenty of shocking scenes. 😀

Hahaha I laughed out loud at the part about Cordelia. The first time I saw that I was seriously expecting her to give birth to a child and then Jasmine appeared and I was like, "Oooookay" after...everything that happened that season, I can't even say that I was surprised.

It was upsetting as hell (more so than shocking) when Justine slit Wesley's throat and took Connor. I flipped the freak out oh my goodness. Feels like it was just yesterday... :cry:

There are so many shocking moments. Ugh. Jenny's death had been spoiled for me, and Tara's, and Joyce's...so they weren't *as* shocking as they should have been. Grr.
 
Oh yeah Tara's death was devastating to me when it first aired and hit me just as hard when I re watched the series recently
 
You know what's one that I'd sort of forgotten about, but when it happened I was totally stunned? In "Becoming, Part 2" when Spike shows up, saves Buffy from the cop and teams up with her to fight Angelus and Drusilla. That was crazy! Even when I re-watch it now, I still get pumped seeing that scene!

Another shocking thing is when Wesley suddenly, without warning, railed on Faith when he busted her out of jail on Angel. I had never been so scared in my life and I was practically in tears!
 
Tara was never a favorite character of mine but her death was completely unexpected to me. Anyas as well and her death was soooo impersonal, I think she deserved a little more than that.
 
Jenny's death & Tara's death were the biggest shockers for me that broke my heart. These are the moments that just weren't expected for me. Took me a while to even believe it! Also, when Willow skins Warren. Very raw & I just didn't know what to think. My brain was trying to catch up with what I was seeing. Those are just a few I can think of right now.
 
One moment that sticks in my mind is in the Angel episode ''Sleep Tight'' when Wesley attacks Lorne. I had never expected Wesley to act like that before, and it was especially disturbing that Lorne was on the receiving end.
 
Willow enticing a deer to come over then killing it st the beginning of Season 6. That was watercooler talk for a few days.

Man, I'd forgotten about that scene. That was pretty intense. I mean, you know you're into some deep s*** when you have to start sacrificing the most innocent animals either. Well, and when you're vomiting snakes. That's generally best to avoid.
