What is your biggest complaint about season 7?

One thing i disliked about Season 7, is that there wasn't enough Spuffy 😉 Anyways being serious now, the potentials were really annoying at times, and i like many others felt Chosen was just too rushed, the pacing was just too fast, would of been great for if it was 2 hours.

She was SO annoying, I mean anyone but her. Anyone. Amanda would be better than her. THE FIRST would be better than her
 
The worst thing about Season 7... Anya and Xander didnt get back together ! Xanya is (in my opinon) the best couple on Buffy, they fit so well together, and they are hilarious together 🙂

Also, I agree about the potentials, it became very repetitive seeing a new potential arrive, or having an episode that focused around a new potential.

It was sooo sad that Spike died, that crushed me. But I loved the way Spuffy developed during Season 7, especially in the ep where Buffy is kicked out of home (GRR!) and she ends up staying in Spikes arms all night, awww, that was so beautiful.

Kennedy seemed to immature for Willow, as if she was only experimenting with her. Although it was sweet when Kennedy told Willow 'Now you're my way', it still felt as if Kennedy was being childish with Willow.

But I have to say, Season 7 was probally the best season in my opinon, it just had so much emotion, I was glued to the TV every second of it 😛

I have to agree with you there! I always hoped they'd have a happy ending but they only slept with each other two times or so and then she died. Anya dissapointed me anyway in S7... She used to be so much cooler!
 
I watched through season 7 in haste (I watched the entire show on DVD) because I miss Tara's presence in every frame. I mean, she never really got that much screen time but knowing that she'll never show again makes it all the more painful.

And then suddenly there's Kennedy whose presence was supposed to allow Willow (and perhaps the fans) to move on. All it did was make me pity Willow; here's a great character who was given a tremendous arc and was allowed to grow so much. In the end, they took away her joy and her sense of self (I find it unbelievable that Willow would take someone like Kennedy, regardless of the time since Tara, much less enter a relationship built on nothing after everything that has happened). They should have ended before Chosen if they really just have to show that Willow's trying to move on.
 
I don't think they could have thought up a more pathetic replacement for Tara. It never seemed logical to me that someone could be in love with a girl like Tara and then fall for KENNEDY.
 
Wow, all these people that hate season 7 and not just on this forum but all over every Buffy site I've ever seen. My favorite seasons are 3, 5 and 7.

I wanted more of the Potentials, I thought that was a very cool element of the whole season and very possibly (what's that french word) reason for, maybe the whole series.

One needs to dig deeper than just Buffy to see what is really going on here. All the writers for the series are moving beyond Buffylore (which basically started as recreations of the classic monster films) and then in season 7 they hit on some big stuff - Shakespearean monologues and huge epic conflicts of what is right and wrong. Some very grey areas which really make us think.

Of all the seasons I found season 4 the most inconsise and lame. I've only been on the site for 5 minutes and I have already seen 2 or 3 posts that want to see Riley Finn dead. Add me to the list.

Season 4, regardless of what you think, still had the Buffy "charm"...I personally really enjoyed it, it was a transition season...but still stayed true to the spirit of the show. Season 7 just felt like an entirely different universe. And you wanted MORE of the Potentials? Wow, I wish I knew you in person...I'd love to meet someone with such a high patience threshold...
 
I think you might be the only person so far whom has commented on this thread whom wants more of the Potentials...interesting. 🙂
 
He's actually the only person I've ever encountered who even LIKES them, much less wants MORE of them. We should tie him up and subject him to an intense interview, because clearly his mind is uncharted territory!

I know, right? I just.....ugh...The only time I ever liked Killow (or Wennedy) was in storyteller, when they were thre for the sole purpose of insinuating that Andrew was gay

I remember Joss saying something to the effect in the commentary about them wanting to give Willow a new girlfriend as different from Tara as possible...well, they succeded!

I agree with you purplepoof. That Xander, Giles and Willow (although she did get Killer in Me and a lot of Kennedy moments) was pushed aside was bad. I feel that we had too many characters. We had Andrew, Faith, Kennedy, Wood and Spike taking up place (Anya deserved get her moments) and I don't know if it would have been better without them. Usually, we have less new characters, so were not used to this.

On the other hand, I love season 7, and I realize that I can't get everything. I just wish Andrew died instead of Jonathan who could have made a few guest appearances then left, and that we would have given a few Willow scenes to Xander and a few Spuffy scenes to Giles. But then I would complain that Willow's & Spike's important arcs that began in season 6 wouldn't have been given enough room. Wood should have died (I'm not happy with him trying to kill Spike) and I feel that without the potentials and the world ending, there would have been more time over for character development as well. But then I would have complained about lack of action.

I think there was too many characters and too much plot for just one season. 22 episodes didn't cut it, we needed atleast 5 more. Actually, 10 sounds better. Then we could have had more development for all characters, even for the potentials.

Btw, I think that some day, Kennedy will be nice. She just needs to grow. Like in that scenes with the First and Chloe? After the first mocking Kennedy about the maggot-bit, Ken looked as if she understood not to ever do that again.

What I don't get is if there were no Potentials, what would have been the point of the whole season? How would it have ended?

As for not enough Giles, he wasn't even a regular member of the cast anymore at this point, he just dropped by for guest spots so more of him was an impossibility.

I never felt that season 7 was very different than other seasons except for the obvious changes in venue. Which is I think exactly what makes Joss' work so great. If not it would have just been maybe 4 seasons of some kids who look way too old for high school hanging around the same sets (library, school entrance, buffy's place) and then it would have been cancelled. Joss changes it up to keep it interesting.

So everybody hates the Potentials. Nobody cheered when Andrew and the ex-potentials-newly-made-slayers showed up on Angel season 6 ep "Damage"? I thought that rocked. Loved it.

Honestly, one girl in all the world with the power yadda yadda yadda is a pretty cool story. One girl who learns to ahare her power with so many others is really what the story is all about. (not to mention a nice alegory for feminism, which again was a major theme all the way through the story . In review - no potentials, no allegory, no story, might as well watch Charmed) (sic)

But well, you're right, Joss changes a lot. For example I began watching in season 5 and years after the finale I watched the earlier seasons. And I couldnt believe this was Buffy. She was a kid then and in season seven she's grown up. Of course thats natrual, but I think if you started watching in season 1 you dont notice that so much, because you grow with her. So of course season 7 must be different, in fact season 6 was diffenrent too.. maybe the other changes were gradual and in season seven its more abrupt, I dont know. But changes cant be always gradual in life, so thats again an example of how real the show was (if you dont mind the vampires).

I like the fact that Buffy takes Dawn to her old school right in the beginning, that shows us right away: She is not the school girl anymore.

I always liked the season because I couldnt notice any differences to the earlier seasons (well after not having seen them), but even after that I still think its a good season, not my favourite, though.
 
I didn't mind the Potentials and thought them quite an interesting addition to the show, however I would have preferred a more gradual transition towards them, maybe after Season 8 or 9. It was just all so very quick, but yeah, if you run out of time to tell a story, you have to be quicker. A pitty in a way. All the same, I though it a good Season. I liked the evil guy. Just forgot his name, but the guy, who talks with this amazing accent. Well that Priest. So I loved him as much, as I hated him.

And that Killow thing didn't stick with me as being believable. Was more of a rushed job. Again I believe that time issue had to play a part there too.

The power could have been spread without a bunch of annoying, poorly written characters moving into her house. The ending should be about paying tribute to the beginning. In season 7 more than any other the Scoobies should have been tighter...and they weren't because there were too many bloody characters.

And by saying it's too different to the other seasons and lacks the charm...I mean that season 7 doesn't feel rooted in reality like the others do. It feels like a comic book. Far less relatable.
 
I was fine with the potentials coming in. The writers just didnt handle the sitatuion that well. And they probably should have made it like 10 potentials max and just say The First killed all the other ones and these are the only girls left.
 
I don't really see how they could. There were too many of them for the writers to give any adequate screentime and character development.
