What is your biggest complaint about season 7?

While my appreciation has grown for this season on repeat viewings, I still see it as by far the weakest of the series. There were just so many poorly thought out story elements that combined together just created a potent mixture of severe crapitude. So this thread is for people who don't care much for season 7...what was the biggest problem you had? The Potentials? Spuffy? Robin Wood? The First as a boring and unengaging Big Bad?

My central problem was the writers pushing the main characters to the side. I really feel the final season of a show should be paying tribute to the core characters and emphasizing their journey and how they've changed along the way. Willow and Xander had virtually nothing to do all season but walk around and look pensive. Dawn occasionally said something that wasn't as annoying as we'd expect from her. Anya was still Anya but we saw a lot less of her and a lot more of new characters we didn't care about at all.

What's your biggest complaint, or the number one thing that you felt made this season less than spectacular?
 
I liked The First, and I even liked Robin Wood.

But, too much time was spent on the potentials, like you say, and not the main characters, it was abit of a let down.
 
Agreed with most of what you said although I enjoyed Wood until they tried the Wood/Spike arch.

A little more Giles could have been nice and I could have done with out Killow.(Willow Kennedy)
 
I also agree about the potentials. Too much of them and not enough principle characters. I also didn't really appreciate Buffy's speeches, though truth be told, I only saw the season once. I have yet to watch it all the way through again and I've heard that many people enjoy it more the second time round. I would, however, had liked to see the principle characters focused more.
 
I like season 7 but if I were to have one complaint it would be the potentials, wasting valuable screen time on them, namely wasting SO much screentime on Kennedy and then, to add insult to injury, pairing her up with Willow and shoving that down our throats. Yep, Killow, biggest complaint about S7.
 
I also think the potentials were a big problem in season seven. I disliked what they did with Giles' character, too.

On the whole though, I think season seven's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

I think one of the biggest problems was that the First was just so...blah as a big bad.
 
Kennedy is the most annoying thing in that series I think Willow could do better . She was so pushy and in your face I was hoping Buffy would teach her a wee lesson but alas no.

Oh Anya dying really annoyed me but it had to be someone x
 
All the speeches, since when did Buffy speak in long boring speeches. It was like she never had a normal conversation. It really grated on me. Plus the last fight,why send everyone in before Willow had done the spell? what if it hadn't worked??!?! and the potentials..wasted screen time.
 
My biggest problem with Season 7 is that there's just almost too much going on to keep track of. There are enough major plot devices in this season to fill out at least three normal seasons, and in doing so, allow the time to develop each one properly. Apparently, the writers just had all of these cool ideas, and, since this was to be the last, they just couldn't resist using them all. The result is a 7 ring circus: plenty going on, but there's just not time enough to appreciate it all.

My probleme with S7 is that it needed to be two seasons, because so much was going on and so many "important" characters were pushed aside.

Sadly, the season will always lose points with me because I think Xander, Willow, Giles, Dawn and Anya should get as much attention and storyline as Buffy and Spike. It won't matter if it wasn't the last season, but sorry, since it's the last season, the main characters should be the focus.
 
Yeah I haven't watched Season 7 since it's initial run on TV, and i remember liking it. Only thing that annoyed me was the potentials and that The first was non corporeal, other then that I remember it being pretty cool. One thing i didn't agree with was Giles actions towards wanting to kill Spike, he knew Spike had a soul now, but still wanted him dead.
 
I love S7, but the one thing I can't get over is Kennedy. Well, not Kennedy, just the actor. I actually quite enjoy the character of Kennedy, the actor just sucks, REALLY bad.

This is all that bothered me too. Girl that played Kennedy was crap, like she is Btvs version of the crapness that was Connor. also, the first was kinda lame.:santa2: Loved everything else though.

Amen to that. Chosen was way too rushed...and that little 30-second long Scoobie tribute to the beginning of the show with "The world is doomed" was not NEARLY enough. They needed time to give us some major character interaction.

I competely agree.
My main complant is that it ended, and chosen was too rushed!, they needed to
have a 2hr ending. Also not enough was of what we had grown use to the main
people weren't in it enough and it was all about the big bad, nothing else like
the other seasons. xx <3
 
I'm nearly half through it on DVD. So far, my biggest complaint is that Spike has been turned into such a sad character. He got a soul and now he's one third monster, one third dim-wit, one third sorry sad sack. I don't get the point of the First torturing him, I mean using him to raise a vampire army sure, but just torturing him, not so much.

Nor do I get Buffy's attitudes toward him, half the time scolding and angry, the other all out of character caring and declaring herself his savior.

And I can't believe how easily Xander gave in and let Spike move in. I'm not buying it, nope, not at all.

I know that there is supposed to be some redemption/closure/ make Spuffy's happy coming, but so far...I'm pretty peeved.

Also, as many mentioned, things are spread pretty thin, too much going on, and it is feeling pretty disconected. And when Giles came in and explained in his boring speech about how THIS time it's really the end...I guess I feel like "where have we heard THAT before?" I mean, I sort of feel like what is the matter with these people? Why do people insist on living on the Hellmouth? Why does every demon in the Universe focus on the planet earth? Why do they let Andrew sit in and listen to all their plans when they know they can't trust that sorry fool?

S7 has had some good moments, to be sure,

but right now I think Buffy and a soul are the worst things that ever happened to Spike...sigh
