What Would You Like To See On The Boards?

Um, two words: Andrew Forum

Alroght, I said it. Aanyways, probably would be best to get rid of the Virtual Season 8 Forums, I'm sorry to the people who worked on it, I probably sound like a traitor, but it's just gathering dust

We've said before that if there is enough posting for it, there will be a forum, but one won't just be added for the sake of it.

I was actually thinking about the Virtual Season over the weekend, as Dario had to take some offline time, and we didn't think it would last this long. So leave it with me, I have one more thing to try before we should look at getting rid of it.

And yes from now on No more scheme talk the boards have many schemes, and even a few recent additions. The schemes are not the main thing on the board.

With regards to Anya's suggestion - The seaons descriptions are a brief summary, most people who post are big fans of the show so will no this already. Therefore there is no point in putting it up. Large forum descriptions will alter the size of the forums.

I like the idea of competitions, but a theme one, perhaps not, for the above reason.

Did you not understand Magui, no more scheme talk.

Concerning Anya's point, I think he did not mean to make them longer, he meant to change them so altering them so they actually fit what happens in that season, S4 of Buffy tells nothing as far as I am aware, it does but nothing about the going ons we get to discover, S3 has absolutely nothing. So they defiently need a seeing too so it actually gets the whole look the board should have!

I would a spangel scheme and andrew's forum

As we have said numerous times before - and including in my post above yours, no more requests for schemes, and that if there is enough posting for an Andrew forum then one would be made.

I would like to suggest an idea I have for 2 new rooms.

1.

The first would be a "Hall of Fame" room.

There are threads I miss. There are threads I would like to reference that are gone.

I suggest an option on the bottom of threads that allows users the ability to vote threads into a hall of fame room where notable threads could be displayed for posterity.

Another type of thread I would like to see displayed there would be a thread that notes some significant, or at least noteworthy happening in the Buffy world. For instance. Sarah quits, or Buffy memoribilia sold at auction.

2.

The second new room I would like to suggest is a "Sin Bin".

I suggested this idea to Buffy Summers some time ago. I got the impression she didn't like the idea, so I modified it.

Basically a Sin Bin would be a separate forum room where the moderators could move threads or sections of threads, that are in danger of crossing the line.

It would be a place for threads that are not actually flaming, or trolling, or clearly breaking any forum rules, but you know they're heading in that direction.

Also, you could do something interesting with a Sin Bin. You wouldn't have to cancel the whole thread. In the case of a hijacked thread you could just snip off the bit where the thread gets hijacked, then send that section to the sin bin where the 2 offending parties could publicly make asses of themselves by finishing the debate or brainless babblefest, providing they didn't outright cross the line into a flame war, or another outright breaking of forum rules.

Just some comments. If I'm not understanding what you mean, please let me know. We keep all the old threads in the cemetery. Other than some we deleted a while ago when we were running out of server space on the old one, they're all there.

I am not aware of a way to vote threads to be moved into a special room, but I will keep an eye out for something like that.

I remember this suggestion n4h 🙂 Though I'm not recalling exactly what the original idea for it was, so I can't speak to why we didn't go forward on it then. As with all the other suggestions in here, we will talk about whether its something we want to do. The only thing about letting people finish a 'brianless babblefest' is that with that type of thing, you know, its still spamming even if its in its own thread.

🙂

The original idea was a sin bin, but no matter how mean or raunchy the comment it goes there for public display, with a disclaimer at the entrance to the bin.

I must be mellowing or something, because now that seems like a pretty dumb idea to me too.

Well it might have some merits with a little tweaking - just putting everything in there probably wouldn't work. I think what I had said before was that even with a disclaimer, there is not way to prevent people from viewing the forum who shouldn't. 🙂

Maybe you should make that Sin Bin like the Game of Life. No post count. So they can spam all they want.

Ooo Me!!! Me!!! I have an idea....

A web page, dedicated to my life... The Life and Times of The First Evil

It'd bring in hundreds of thousands a day... 🙂

But if not... the boards are perfect in my humble opinion... The Admin team, The Mods... Myself included.... The Members.... oh it just brings a tear to my eye 🙂

Me too. Me too. I wanna page like First Evil's too.

Hey ya know what? We're just being facetious, but could something like that be done?

You know, like a user personal page where you could post your own personal daily rant or personal thought of the day, or pic of the day, or stuff like that, even if it had to be Buffy related.

It would just be a another way of personalizing. Maybe it could come with optional password protection.

I'm talking limited space, so you don't use much bandwidth.

BTW. I like the boards the way they are too, but you did ask for suggestions.

I wouldn't need that, these boards are already like a dairy to me. Maybe just add a big field for personal comments to the profile, with optional responding to it.

Allycat you're going to hate me for doing this, but I can't help myself. You made a typo.

I have to point it out, cause it's cracking me up.

Do a dictionary search on "dairy".

Making a sin bin have no post count wouldn't solve the problem - its not the post count that is at issue but the content of the posts. 🙂 And, the board is not a chat room. And should not be a personal diary.

You could do a personal web page for each user, which yes would be cool, but it would take up a lot of bandwith (when this site already uses a lot). Cause I don't think they could be limited per page. Plus you'd get people abusing it, and hotlinking to it and stuff. And when people are inactive, their page would still be there taking up resources. So in theory its a good idea but probably would not work in practice.

But if you really want your own personal page you could always make it yourself and put the link in your profile.

I am *struggling* to withhold my laughter.::evil1::

If I may add my little non-helpful opinion 😀... I love the Hall of Fame idea for "famous threads." Personally, I think there've been a lot. But the problem is, some users would just vote for their favorite thread which may only consist of "omg I love Angel!" The Admins should probably pick which threads should be voted on by the content of the posts.
