What You Don't Like

What? What is this? 'What you don't like about Bangel' thread? I'm so scared. Where's my nice fuzzy warm Bangel loving thread? 😀

That's what I thought until I read all the posts....there really isn't much to dislike about Bangel. They are pretty much perfect 😛

Yes indeed.
"Fork Guy. That's all Crypto Guy said."
"There are too many guys in your life."

I hated how he was all cryptic and mysterious in the beginning, but I kinda loved that too.

The only thing I really hated was that they couldn't be together without him being evil.

To be honest, I do like their relationship. They are so cute together.. But what I did not like was the breakup and the fact that Angel just wanted to disappear without saying goodbye. He made Buffy so happy, but there was no future in their relationship.. it's kinda sad. (That's why I find "The Prom" very sad).
On the other hand I was so happy to see them together in "I Will Always Remember You", they were so cute. I found it quite disappointing that Buffy ended up without remembering anything that happened in that episode.
And as some already mentioned.. I'd like to see their meeting in season 6 🙂

I honestly love how very pointedly that was done. Goodbye signifies the end, it signifies that it is over. The writers very carefully ensured that B/A never said goodbye to each other, face to face.

I think the only time it was said was when Buffy laid the Claddagh ring on the spot where he was sucked into Hell. Angel coming back mere seconds later was a very clear point that B/A was most certainly NOT OVER.

So yeah, I am a fan of them not saying goodbye. 😀

I am a fan of CANGEL, Bangel & Spuffy. I like them all.

But the one thing that really irks me about Buffy and Angel's relationship is that there is a sense of immaturity to it. I dont like the way that Angel acts around her. Its kind of wimpy-ish. Lol. So I am not a fan about that.

I seriously can't think of anything significant. The things I don't like are more nitpicky and meaningless. Like, the way he says "I..." *interminable pause* "...I love you." in "Surprise" just always seems weird to me. I'd have preferred it if he'd gotten the entire sentence out in one go without that random pause in the middle.

And I thought their fight in "Angel" before he tells her about his soul was really lame and short. But I guess neither of them really wanted to be fighting the other in the first place, so it does make sense. It's just not as cool to watch. 😛

Hm...oh, that "when you kiss me, I want to die" line. What? I still have no idea what that was about and no matter which way I look at it, it's just weird.

But that's about it. I completely and utterly adore the pairing and only wish their circumstances weren't always so against their being together.

perhaps she wants to die of happiness? :p at least thats what I tell myself.
The young inexperienced over the topness of it is something that bothers a lot of people, but I think that why they needed to separate to grow up before they could be together again. There are moments where I feel like that too, but I don't think they are that bad. They could always get together again in the future. 🙂

I hate that they're so perfect together. Wait, that's not the point of this is it? Haha.

I hate how in every stage of their relationship, Angel wants to be the martyr. He avoids her, pushes her away, doesn't fight for her like she wants, etc. But what I hate the most is that he prolongs the inevitable. Their connection was always undeniable, and he put it off. For the "right" reasons, sure, but there was no avoiding them falling in love. I just hate that he tried.

I agree with Kean here... The season 6 separation is completely stupid. It's contrary to the rest of the series. Angel has always been there for the pivotal moments, and I HATE with a passion that he didn't make an appearance (save the off-screen one that I'm not counting) because Buffy switched networks. Nothing gets to me more then when a show has to change the plot, or characters because of a network or availablility issue. UGH

Just as an intro, I don't ship any particular relationship. I like and dislike them all for many reasons!

My biggest problem with Bangel is that we don't see any happy times or moments of great substance that further their relationship. I feel like it is the most intense Buffy relationship, but how did it get that way? We see about two serious discussions on their relationship and the rest of the time they are fighting for their lives or fighting each other. Where are the warm, fuzzy feelings?

The break-up scene always irks me, too: Angel says they can't be together because he can't give Buffy what she wants/needs. ?!?! How the heck does he know? Who CAN give her what she needs? I akin this to when *don't kill me for bringing this up* Spike tells Buffy that she doesn't really love him. Um, how come Buffy can't just feel what she feels and want what she wants?

That being said, these two are just so in love and so involved in each other that they don't always see the bigger picture. They want to protect each other and be with each other above all else, which maybe doesn't mesh with their callings. Sad day. 🙁
