Alien: resurrection. Apparently he wrote that horse bleep (i had no idea until earlier this year). Whedon doesn't put up too many stinkers I would say though.

Isn't that one of the films where he did a lot of work making it presentable but then they disregarded most of what he did?
I love this question so ya know 😀 Mine's Firely, I really think this show is overrated, please don't hate me lol. I just don't like it too much i guess. I have watched the series in its entirety twice,it is not for me. 🙂 Don't mistake me,i don't hate it or think it sucks or anything of the such, but i think its only barely passing and the least of Whedon's works. 🙂 Breath, calm down and then respond 😛

You're not the only one
Yeah, I'd go with Alien: Resurrection as well. Joss was brought in as script doctor (like he was for a lot of other films) but couldn't save it. He just ended up contributing to its badness.
By far the worst of the Alien movies, at least until Prmometheus came along and redefined the term 'dumb ass lazy character motivation'. 🙂

As for Firefly, I do think it's slightly overrated, given that it got cancelled and has that 'martyr' effect going for it. But that's mainly because, although I love all the characters, the overall arcing plot and most of the grittier sci-fi aspects, I find the western-inspired parts (especially episodes like 'Hearts Of Gold') really hokey and forced.

For me I've never been keen on Firefly. It just bores me most of the time, but I really took a dislike to Dollhouse when it aired.

I stuck with it right to the end and thought it was a brave attempt at dealing with a complex issue, but imo it was a mess, and it also came across to me as incredibly exploitive (ironic given the subject matter) like a case of Whedon wanting his cake and eating it at the same time.

Wow, you guys are my people. I've always really liked Firefly, and I think it's far and away the best first season Joss has ever produced, but it is overrated to the max. Buffy and Angel may have had way more duds, but their longer lifespans allowed me to get way more attached the the characters and invested in their world. This isn't really Firefly's fault, as it was canceled, and I'm sure it could have been Joss's greatest work if it had been allowed to go on as long as he wanted. But we got what we got, a really good show with lots of unrealized potential, but not much more.

Plus, I have somewhat of an irrational resentment towards it. If Joss hadn't been working on it, he could have paid attention to Buffy and Angel and their quality wouldn't have dropped. Also: Farscape and BSG > Firefly.

I love Farscape! Really wanted that last season to happen, but we got the PKW instead.

more love for Farscape and BSG here
Dollhouse.

It's not bad, and I actually like it a little bit, but BTVS, AtS and Firefly are all projects I much prefer. Firefly basically doesn't have a seasonal arc, but the character strength makes up for it (didn't much care for Serenity the movie though).

Dollhouse was just overly ambitious I felt. I like Eliza Dushku a lot, but the premise is really dark and there are a lot of episodes I just didn't really care about.

The Cabin in the Woods. A stinker if ever there was one. Boo Joss, boo!

I REALLY disliked that movie. SO overrated, and I'd waited so long to see it. Boo indeed!

oh yeah, THAT one.
I'm not a big fan of watching anything much.

I loved Buffy, Angel & Dollhouse, Toy Story was sweet too. These to me have a meaning and are done with a heart.

If I had to choose something I don't like from Joss Whedon's work would be Season 4 & 5 from Angel. Total disappointment.

I was going to say "Dr. Horrible", but I at least made it through that one. "Dollhouse" literally bored me to sleep so that one gets my vote

For me its also Firefly... I tried to get into it I really did but i really just couldnt get invested... it just didnt appeal to me at all. On the other hand Dollouse during its run was like total crack for me!

I haven't seen all of the things he's written, but of the things I've seen my least favorite is probably Cabin in the Woods. I have seen Alien: Resurrection, but that was quite a long time ago and I remember nothing at all.

To be fair, almost the entire script was re-written and Whedon was really unhappy with how the film turned out. I think if he had directed the film and nobody had tinkered with his script, the movie probably would have been way, way better.

Dollhouse for me. There were a couple really neat and interesting characters but they couldn't carry the show. Robb hit the nail on the head, Joss was just overly ambitious with it and it ended up being a mess.

To be honest, I haven't seen that much from him. And what I saw I liked (Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse, and yes I loved Cabin in the Woods).

So I'll just go with the Buffy comics because although I like them, they're the ones that have disappointed me the most.

@Blaze, great choice,wish i would've thought of that one 😀

thats why you're the Slayer and Im just a potential 😛

For me it would have to be 'In Your Eyes' or Doctor Horrible, as I only watched them due to Joss.

I don't blame Joss for Alien: Resurrection, it's fairly well documented that much of his work had no bearing on the end result, it's kind of like blaming him for the crapitude of the original Buffy

I'm not a fan of horror movies so I'm going to have to go with Cabin in the Woods, even though I've never seen it. Nor will I ever see it. It's not my kind of film and I'm not going to torture myself just because it's a Jossverse piece.

Trust me, it's pretentious.
