Buffy was meant to be...dead in Prophecy Girl, the only prophecy regarding Buffy. Since then, nobody saw her coming. So when she'll be done baking I hope she'll be happy with herself.

I always knew that Angel and Buffy were meant to be together
But I loved the secret relationship with Spike and Buffy
 
Buffy belongs with Angel in my opinion. They were a forbidden love. They ARE the reason why I fell in love with the show the way that I have. Even though I love them together & know they are meant to be, I was okay with them not being together anymore after season 3 because I knew that they couldn't be. I agreed with their decision. But I was so hoping they would get back together before the show ended somehow, but we did get an amazing kiss so I'm okay with that. 🙂

I think deep down Buffy did grow to love Spike because she saw him in a totally different way than the rest of the characters. I don't believe it was the same kind of love she had for Angel though. Angel is her soulmate, her first love. Nothing, whether it's Spike or anyone else, will ever match that. But I do believe Buffy loves Spike, just not in the same way she loves Angel.

Ok being new here I might be taking a risk I will regret later but I never really liked Angel. There I said it. I did like the S2 bad guy Angel, but I was kind of happy to see him go. While he is and always would be an important part in Buffy's life that relationship was doomed from the beginning cuz Angel was just as guarded as Buffy is so there was a lot of tension between them. And Spike was a weird relationship that I don't know how I feel about it. The slayer is destined to be alone, thats evident just by the nature of her job. She's too strong for humans and too human for demons so she will never have a lasting relationship. That doesn't mean that she had no lasting relationships, I mean she had Giles, Willow and Xander but friends and lovers are different and when it comes to a lasting love, she's SOL.

Don't worry hon, TONS of us dislike Angel here, including me :)
She definitely needs to go out either by herself or with the scoobies, I'd be really annoyed if she was with ANYONE in the end. 😀 I think it's important that, as a hero, she never really keeps a romantic interest. Either she only has herself, or she has her best friends from the start, both of which convey important messages. 🙂
 
I'm pretty meh on Bangel. I quite enjoyed their relationship early on, but it got a bit dull in S3, and I certainly do not believe that they are soulmates. Angel was her first love, and that's a big thing, but I don't think he was her true love. Both a important, but massively different. I don't think Buffy and Angel could ever be happy together (not just because of the whole vampire/slayer/true happiness thing, but because they just didn't make each other happy. I don't think they'd right for each other).

Spuffy... I don't want to go too far into it or it'll sound like bashing. Hell, it will be bashing. Lets just say that it made me gag and my skin crawl, and leave it at that. (Plus he was really creepy and tried to rape her... OK, now I'm stopping).

I think she should be with Faith. 100% seriously, I do. I think their relationship is more engaging and interesting than any other in the show. They, I believe, are soulmates. The chosen two. They balance each other out and can understand each other like nobody else can. I view season 3 as a tragic love story.

I LOVE Spike. He is so Lovey Dovey it seems that he really seemed to be able to love even after he lost his soul. Even though it was an obsessive love rather than love humans feel, he ADORED Drusila. When he fell for Buffy he fall hard, even as his brain argued with his heart. I love OMWF because it shows how much he was devoted to Buffy, even though he also saw her as the enemy. I also loved how he took care of Dawn even after Buffy had died. He did it out of shear devotion, Buffy was gone, he wasn't going to get anything out of it. Still the rape episode makes me uncomfortable with them being together. If that episode could be erased than I would say Spike all the way! But with it, I think Buffy needs a new guy. Someone with less baggage than Angel or Spike. I'm for Riley, but I think the reason he left her was stupid. They could have worked things out, he didn't need to leave. Angel who I love in general, I think is too brooding for Buffy. Her life has enough darkness in it. She needs someone who is more lighthearted.

Personally - I think Buffy's meant to be with Angel.

Angel has been described as Buffy's darker half, as Buffy has been described as Angel's lighter half.

While They each may have other people that they've loved - Buffy (Spike & Riley), Angel (Cordelia). At their cores - it's only Angel that Buffy's been able to love with her whole heart & Soul, just as Angel loves her, with his entire heart & Soul.
 
OK, Newbie here, just registered today. I've always felt that Buffy loved Angel above all others, but the person who loved her the MOST was Spike.

IMHO, Buffy never got over Angel and it carried over to her other relationships. I loved her with Riley, and then loved her with Spike. But, her soulmate, the person that Buffy would have chosen, I really believe was Angel.

I'm not sure she's actually meant to be with anyone, since the slayer is supposed to be alone. But really I think Angel, despite the amount of pain each has caused the other. It seems like he loved her the moment he saw her, and they've done quite a lot of good together, so I think perhaps they were always supposed to be together in a weird, one is almost two centuries older than the other, kind of way.
 
Hard to argue with that logic 😛 I want to know what it is about Buffy that makes her fall in love with the things she's supposed to be removing from existence. Okay, Angel has a soul and is arguably less evil than other vampires, but Spike didn't have a soul until season 7. Not very professional for a slayer to fall in love with vampires, you wouldn't want a firefighter who was also a pyromaniac. So maybe she was meant to be with someone nice and human, like Riley. Riley was great for a while.
 
I am a big Bangel shipper, but I did wonder about how great Bander would have been 😉
 
They would have been cool 🙂 I rewatched Prophecy Girl the other day and felt really bad for Xander getting turned down.
 
I've recently been watching the early seasons and i think i would edge towards Buffy belonging with Angel. Buffy's love for Angel in the early seasons is so strong and i think when he returns in season 7 and they immediately embrace its clear the love she feels for him will never go away.

As far as Spike goes i don't know if she ever held the same strong feelings for him as she did with Angel. That's just my opinion though, feel free to prove me wrong :biggrin:
