I voted other- I always got the feeling that Buffy was going to find someone else to love and grow old with as she could pass the burden of Slayer-ing on. I think she'll have that love for Angel, Riley, Spike, etc, in her heart, but I believe she has moved on. Of course, then along came the comics 😛

That aside- in terms of her canon relationships, I've discussed on another thread how I don't like how awesome characters become fail when they date Buffy 😛 But in terms of what is best for her: Angel and Buffy love each other, but stuff gets screwed up when they are together. Perhaps without that soul clause it might work, but who knows... Riley could have been good for her, but it kind of seems like she doesn't let him be. And, of course, the relationship ends. No power on this earth will ever convince me that Buffy and soulless Spike were anything other than unhealthy as a relationship, much as I like Spike. As for soul-Spike, I think what Buffy needed in S7 was someone that she saw as an equal, of sorts, to tell her when she was right and wrong, not just to act like she was perfect, and everyone who disagreed with her was clearly just a big meanie - I'm sorry, but I agree that it's nice when someone stands up for someone they love, and is supportive, but I also think that it's not a sign of a great relationship to blindly agree with everything your lover says/does. Realism is neccessary, and its entirely possible to love someone wholeheartedly, whilst acknowledging their flaws. So, yeah, I wouldn't say it was great.

For the others- honestly, I don't see her as entering a full blown relationship with a woman in the first place. And for Xander, I think he's grown away from that, I think their relationship would have the feel of her settling for Xander because he's "normal"- at the very least, I can see this being how Xander would see it. They have a good friendship, by and large, and I'm glad to hear that he turned her down in the comics.

I agree with that section so much. Miss Superiority Complex does not need a lap-dog, she needs an equal.

That's one of the reasons that I think Faith/Buffy would be great. Compare Faith and Spike in the whole Empty Places/Touched debacle. Spike blindly supports Buffy despite not knowing a thing about what happened, and if I rememeber correctly, didn't even know what the plan was, and violently assaults anyone who disagress with her. Faith, on the other hand, was reasonable and criticised Buffy, without outright attacking her. She supported Buffy while still voicing her objections (gawd, it's almost like she had her own thoughts and opinions, isn't it?).

Buffy & Spike.

They fit perfectly with my idea of true love. And I never enjoyed that much a relationship on TV. They love each other and they inspire each other to be better.

When you see the person you love as she/he is, when you're able to say "I love you" in despite of all the worst and the best you have seen of this person, that's what I call true love.

Spuffy all the way 🙂

Hi friend, I think I love you! ;)
Spike and Buffy

I don't need to say why. They did that themselves.

In Season 7 when Spike says that spending the night holding Buffy was the best night of his life.....wow! That tears me up every time. How could you not be a Spuffy after watching that?

And who is the one person who voted for Parker? lol!!!

How can you not after "After Life?" That moment got me. When Spike looks at Buffy, and Buffy just seems to fall into the comfort there...gets me everytime.

That's what I'd like to know, good question. :)
The opinion of the actors aren't arguments, but David wasn't that much in favor of Buffy and Angel.

David Boreanaz: Buffy's pretty much out of the picture. They've played their storyline and that's just the past. Buffy's just the past.
Inteviewer: I'm a Buffy/Angel fan. Sorry.
David Boreanaz: You're forgiven. No, I'm just saying that the two shows are on different networks and it's not gonna happen. There's no more story there for those two. Buffy isn't Angel's priority anymore. In Season 1 and 2 of our show, she was always in the back of his mind, well, now it's all about the baby and Buffy is just, well, she's just a person he used to know.
Inteviewer: Awww, come on! The story there was so incredible.
David Boreanaz: And like every good story, it came to an end. And then started over. On. Different. Networks. (again with the emphasis)
Inteviewer: Is Angel going to hook up with Cordy?
David Boreanaz: Well, I'm all for it. I don't know what the writers have planned in that regard, but I'm a fan of Charisma's work and I'd love for our characters to be romantically involved. Cordy is really what Angel needs, I believe.
I'm not generally in favour of "reunions" because there is no reason to go back. It took a lot to get me to do Buffy. At one point I really didn't want to do it, but as a favour to Sarah I did it. (Ninemsn.com.au (March 14, 2004)

I only want to go forward in my life rather than backwards. Reunions don't sit comfortably with me and it took a lot to get me to do Buffy. (Dreamwatch Magazine [HASHTAG]#118[/HASHTAG])
When people say they wish [Buffy and Angel] were still together, I tell them if that were the case there wouldn't be any growth for both characters. - - David Boreanaz

In all fairness he has said his fair share of good things about B/A too; but like you said the actors opinions aren't really arguments.

Oh, I do so love this! ;)
David and Sarah ship Angel and Buffy so that sums up who was best for Buffy.

??? I know a bunch of quotes where DB said if Buffy and Angel got back together, it would be bad and show no growth for the characters. SMG has also never said she prefers one couple over the other. She's been great keeping the peace when it comes to shipping. I know she's said quotes about Angel being Buffy's true love and all, but the context of that was in s5, before Buffy and Spike ever happened. So, yeah. I don't believe the actors ship Bangel or any particular ship for that matter. 🙂 IMO, they ship their characters. And SMG has said some great things about Buffy and Spike, when it comes to Buffy's character.

The thing about Buffy and Spike is they understand each other on a level that nobody else understands her. They've both lived a hundred lives and I think there's a connection there that we will see evolve over the next couple of years where she realizes that he really is someone that she can trust, someone that's a companion to her and someone that really understands her unlike anybody else. -- Sarah Michelle Gellar (BBC)

SMG does say great things about Buffy's relationship with both Angel and Spike...I think she just loves whoever Buffy loves lol. :)

There's an interview where Sarah stats their love is the truest form or something on YouTube that was shot two weeks before the final eps showed. Well after the Spike and Buffy stuff happened in season 6. I can try and find it if you wish.

And i'm sure I saw David say something about Buffy always being Angel's true love, but it might be dated now seeing as it would be around season 3 Buffy - season 1 Angel.

Has nobody ever wrote a fan letter to them asking who they like more? If I knew David or Sarah's contact email i'd send a message like I did with David Hayter (badass voice actor)

EDIT: Found it; sarahmichellegellar@studiofanmail.com

I'ma get my bloody answers XD

Yep, I've seen that video clip too. 🙂 Her exacts words were, "It's love in its most truest, pure form." And I completely agree with her on that. I do think Buffy and Angel's love was pure for various reasons. Does it mean I think it still exists between them? No, lol! "Chosen" showed me that. 🙂

EDIT: Honestly, at the end of the day, even if actors pick certain relationships over others as their favorites, it doesn't mean I have to. That's my right as a fan! 😀

Agree. No relationship is 100% happiness and greatness. It's when you can move beyond the bad you got something really special.

I just don't see it as being exclusive for Spuffy. They got something special sure. But in the end it felt more like friendship.

No I'm not a Bangel.

It's not a friendship if you're attracted to this person and have romantic feelings

If you're not together when what is it? Being attracted and have romantic feelings for a friend isn't that uncommon. Does that mean that they're not friends anymore? I won't start a discussion about it but what exactly their feelings were to each other at this point is up for discussion don't you think? Most Spuffies want to see it a certain way while others might not agree.

As for my comment about them feeling more like friends it's a personal opinion and nothing else.

It's fine if others don't agree with what Spuffies see (I guess, lol), but I think what Spuffies see isn't really what we want to see. We do see things that show their relationship was a lot more than a friendship, whether it be the text, the emotions, facial expressions, and other things. 🙂

Intenitally or not, if you want to see them being together that's the signs you'll be looking for and if you don't like the idea of Spuffy there's a bigger chance that their mind will ignore or simply not see the same signals.

And if you don't want to see what you describe what is it you want to see? Because otherwise you do actually see what you want to see no? 😉 I didn't mean that "seeing what you want to see" is that you imagine things that aren't there. It's more about what signals you pick up and how you interpret them.

I completely agree that if you don't like the idea of Spuffy, there's a bigger change you'll ignore or not see some signals. It's one of the reasons why I think Spuffies always have to defend the idea that Buffy loved Spike (more than a friendship) because we did see clear signs. 🙂

I'm a little confused by the first part of your statement, lol. But, I agree in that I think Spuffies do pick up on the signals (since they're offered, lol) and that affects our interpretation of things. Yet, that can happen with anything, not just Spuffy.

But, I agree in that I think Spuffies do pick up on the signals (since they're offered, lol) and that affects our interpretation of things. Yet, that can happen with anything, not just Spuffy.

I'd say it happens with everything. Sometimes just people agree more less with each other. As for the signs, that's there some of the discussions come from. You think others don't see or ignore some signals while others might think that you're imagine them or see them the wrong way. Who's right will always be discussed and that's why there's discussion boards and not agreeing boards. 😉

As for what confused you it wasn't important so I won't waste time trying to explain it.

Agreed, although Spuffies aren't imagining things ;) :p
Just an observation here. At the moment, out of 99 votes, only 28 were cast for "that other vampire." That just goes to show that Adopt-A-Bangel is getting the job done, folks. Keep up the great work.

(That oughta get thye Bangles out and voting!)

soulunsung agrees: Really. Do you gotta stir them up!?

Hey, somebody's gotta harass the Bangels. They start brooding if they don't get stirred up every now and then. (Besides, now if Angel DOES beat out everybody else, they'll have Adopt-A-Bangel to thank for it. First you win their hearts, then tou win their minds)
