World Cup 2018 thread: Let the Wars begin...

I always support Germany. I have a soft spot for them, and I have a football top of theirs from the eighties. The one with the red, yellow, and black diamonds if you remember, lol.

Also because I have no choice but to watch the games with an extremely biased media who assumes everyone supports England, so I like to support Germany because the English commentators seem to despise the idea of them winning. Still bitter. 😂

Not sure I agree with the last bit. Think what remains is more of a sporting riverly. Not sure why considering their normally miles better than us, ha!
Looking at the groups, I think Group A will be interesting as (to me) non of those countries seem to be known for their football so the games could be closer.

Uruguay has Suarez and Egypt has Salah, so that'll be a hell of a game

From an outsiders pov, the commentators are well known for being just, the worst. How long before the past glories of 1966 are brought up? Poor England. I'd be highly embarrassed to be represented by those dudes.

Some are definitely worse than others but it would be nice to have a mute option for them whilst keeping the crowd noise. It's not so bad when you're watching in a group though. As long as Mark Lawrenson isn't there, he's the very worst.

I'm surprised he's still employed lol. I gave up on the World Cup last time because of the commentators, once 66 started being brought up in non England games. They need some self respect before they're allowed near a mic.
I'm hoping it's not one of the usual ones
I have no real clue when it comes to football, I don't even know what countries are in it I'm afraid!

Does anyone have a list of those in the running for this phase of things? I think it would be helpful for those who aren't expert at football or who hide out until the big show starts... the last time I was really interested in World Cup Football, was 2010 when I was in the Netherlands at the time... My dad was ill with cancer, and it was a welcome distraction for us both.

@badsister I was joking too. About feeling bad and who I think will win. If you had told me the World Cup had already been played I would have believed you.

Haha sorry. I'm not even that interested in world cup but everyone talks about it : at school, at work, so it's hard not to be aware lol
Well Saudi Arabia have set the batten down to the rest world cup, can anyone be crapper than us?!😳

Tomorrow I will Egypt 0-2 Uruguay, Morocco 0-0 Iran and Portugal 1-3 Spain

Hey, no one could have called the worse Russia team in history winning 5-0 even against the worse Saudi team in history😉

Egypt/Uruguay : 0-4

Moroco/Iran : 1-1

Portugal/Spain : I love both but I honestly think Spain has more luck to win : So...... I would say 1-2

One note of interest for today's games is that Egypt are set to field the oldest ever player at the World Cup. Their keeper Essam El-Hadary is 45.

I root for England (and Germany)
Can imagine it being easier from the outside though.

Find it hard to root for Sweden. The commentaries here also gets unbearable when we are doing good.
I want to listen to a commentary. Not a cheerleader.
They get even worse when we play bad though and they can't hide their disappointment. lol

Saw Spain vs Portugal yesterday.
Entertaining enough I guess. But it's never fun to see Ronaldo succeed... 😛

Oh agreed, his spotlight hugging stunt at the Euro 2016 final was a joke. I doubt this Portugal side will do much though, they are really mediocre. Great game last night mind.

Good luck to the Aussies for the early game today! I expect France to at least make the semis, but you often get funny results in the group.

France 1-0 Australia
Argentina 2-1 Iceland
Denmark 1-1 Peru
