that would RUIN the character. No. No way.... just no. Dru is crazy... and insane... and the best part about her is that she LOVED to be evil. Take that away and you ruin Drusilla.

I Voted Yes, Because IMO I Think It Would Be Interesting to See

First and foremost, I want to say that I'm suprised to see so many Dru-haters. It think she was (by far) the most interesting character Joss has ever developed...Angelus running a distant second...then maybe Echo. Anyway, I think it's a shame we didn't get to see all the places he could have gone with her.

But back to the topic, I think the same way here. Giving her a soul would take away from her character. She added a side to the common good vs evil battle we didn't see in any other character. She almost made it an art. She added beauty and intrigue to it. I loved what she made Spike. I think he was so ick when he panted after Buffy. But that's another topic...

Well, I don't think, that Dru with or without a sould would make such a difference. She was already insane, before she got sired.
For, if Darla and Dru would have got a soul just in time, it would have been interesting, how the souled girls and boys, so Spike and Angel, would have handled with each other....LOL

I think it would be good if they maybe have a "what if" episode where she got a soul and we got to see what she would of been like

Haha, yeah, good idea...maybe something like a movie about Spike, Angel, Dru and Darla as good people! LOLZ😀

That would be awesome 🙂 if only....

Well, it would be so great, if the producers would get David Boreanaz, James Marsters, Julie Benz and Juliet Landau for such a movie. It would be like a special for the faithful fans of Buffy and Angel! I think, there are a whole ot more people, who would be interested in stuff like that! 😀

So many hun! So many!!

Well and it would be possible so far, because non of them is dead....Spike, Angel, Dru....okay, they have to bring Darla back again, but hey, Wolfram & Hart will help surely there! 😀
And maybe a movie with a mixture of those awesome flashbacks and new stuff! 😛

I voted yes 'cause a crazy vampire gets a soul..stays obviously crazy and goes even crazier 'cause she killed so many people and done horrible stuff..that'd be GREAT to see, the angles they could take. She probably couldn't remember any of it due to the craziness but if they'd manage to make her remember, that would be so interesting!

I actually think Dru would be kind of boring if she had a soul...then again if got her soul back she might have tried to get revenge on Angel for tormenting her and killing her family....

I voted No, mostly for the reasons people have described;

- The vampire-with-a-soul thing has been done a bit to death these days, in so many different ways. And all the same bloodline, no less. I don't think Dru's souling could be explained in a way that didn't feel "already been done". Honestly, I think Spike's souling was a little dodgy in how it was done. I mean, if I were Angel, I'd have been after that demon to remove the happiness clause from the curse. Anyway, that's somewhat off topic.

- As people have mentioned, it would be very cruel. I mean, Dru was tortured into insanity before she became a vampire. Her family was killed, she thought she was evil because she had visions, add to that decades of killing, maiming and destroying lives and pile it all together? Angel and Spike had a hard enough time dealing with their past actions, Dru has a far, far more fragile mental state. I think it would just break her, and would likely end with her killing herself, possibly taking a few others with her. Which, I suppose would be a spectacular end to the character arc, but I like the character a little too much, all the same XD

- I just like the idea that, despite all the changes that the other characters that we saw in Season 2 have gone through- dying, losing loved ones, finding new loves, becoming harder, changing their destiny- that Drusilla is still out there somewhere, playing with dolls, causing whimsical havoc and terror, and delighting in it.

Saying that, however, it could be an interesting direction to take, and I would have loved to see more of Drusilla. I just don't think it could happen without her just breaking apart, and ending in her death.

I don't think she'd be able to take it in her fragile mental state. We've seen how hard it was for Angel, Darla and Spike to deal with the burden of living with all the memories of what they'd done, Dru would have been pushed over the edge I think. The fact of her saintly personality with a soul wouldn't help, either.

As Himiko said, I like the thought that Dru is still out there somewhere, probably wondering exactly what went wrong with her little 'family' but happy in her own twisted, crazy way.

I don't think of Dru as fragile really and I wonder how she would handle it rather than whether she would.

She had the sight, which as someone pointed out on another thread could be interpretted as a connection to the PTB. Plus I agree she would have a LOT to sort out with Angel as the only flashback we see with her family alive has her protecting them.

But re-ensouled? Please not again. Twice is enough.

Part of me says yes; I think it would have been an interesting idea to explore. I'm actually wondering if a soul would have made a difference to Drusilla though. I mean, she was insane AND souless. I don't understand how the mind of a person suffering from insanity works.... (i'm kinda interested in psychology) maybe the writers thought about this idea, but avoided it for the psychological reasons.
But for me, Drusilla was completely about her insane soulessness. It was the essence of her character, and I'm not sure if you can have a soul less Dru. It just wouldn't be her.
But say if the writers did re soul her; the guilt of what she has done over the past 200 years might kill her. She was a devout Catholic-remember?
Hmmmm, interesting......

No. I loved that she was twisted and crazy and felt no remorse whatsoever, she was a nice contrast to someone like Spike who had more self-awareness. Giving her a soul would make her dull.

Spoiler for Spike comics:
Drusilla briefly gets a soul! 😱 She gets it when she's "sane", though, so it renders her insane again? I'm a little fuzzy on the details cause I didn't personally read the issue, but yeah. She gets a soul for a little bit.

To the best of my knowledge, that is still the case, but it looks like a lot of people posting in this thread aren't aware of it.

No, I wouldn't have liked it, she's different being insane, giving her a soul could make her even more insane but it might make her decided to kill herself. Also I think that giving any more vampires souls cheapens what Spike did to get his.
