I havent read through everyone of these posts... but did anyone see the last scene? (the one after the credits?) i was like omg.. i was suprised.. its a great film.. i saw it again today... isnt Jean just the bomb! 🙂

OK, this could be one heck of a discussion🙂

See where you blame Storm/Halle Berry, i blame the Cure story. I think that was handled quite poorly, in that not enough time was dedicated to the likes of Rogue and Angel. These two are of huge significance in the comic version, but are cast asunder and it becomes that weapon(which although cool, i thought again was too quick).
See Storm had to step up as leader, she had to prove herself to us, the viewer that Xavier was right in suggesting that she take lead. If it would have just been, Xavier dies, Storm takes over with nothing going, i'd have been really angry, i mean lest we forget Storm is a Goddess in Africa.

As for the Xavier/Phoenix story, that had to be dealt with like thta. Cyclops(i'm not sure he is dead, just something seemed a little off) could be viewed as an accident, a mistake. We had to see Phoenix kill, and kill someone inportant. I get what you are saying, but honestly, i saw absolutely nothing wrong with how these things were done.
Cyclops is one of my fave Cartoon/Comic characters but it has been disgraceful how poorly he has been treated in the movies, and as for Marsden going to Superman, well thats given me even less of an opinion of him.
Fact is, you sign onto a character you stay with him. He should have stuck with Cyclops, not jumped ship because his Buddy is directing a new movie and he could have a jucier role...he should have been the one to stop Phoenix, infact i'm actually really angry that it wasn't......
See, how you feel about Halle Berry/Storm, I feel about James Marsden/Cyclops so we are never gonna agree here. Except that Cyclops is my favourite too.

He was still called Dr Hank McCoy, its not uncommon for Doctors to become politicians. Infact Beast is the perfect guy to become one. He is truly learned, diplomatic and powerful.
But i gotta agree with you on him being such a great character.
I just didnt hear him called Dr.

Well see thanx to that little scrap at the end with Magneto, i personally believe that this cure was only temporary, now that Leech is free i'm guessing its only a matter of time before the effects begin to cancel. Having said that, lets hope that she isnt getting jiggy with Bobby when they come back, last thing either of them need is a power drain at the wrong moment and her turning something into an ice bullet.....owww
(i'm so sick)
I totally agree with Kitty.
Love her character and i adored her tete a tete with Juggernaut, but it was like...'where the heck did she come from', i mean even Collosus had some lines in 2.
And the whole Bobby/Kitty thing, personally Rogue is Gambits lady so i wouldnt have shed a tear if he'd have cheated on her.
My knowledge of Xmen outside the movies and Xmen Evolution is a bit limited so I didnt know about Gambit. However, I wonder then how things would have played out if Josh Holloway had agreed to play him? The reason Gambit was cut from the film is because they were only adding him if they could get Josh. But he thought the character was too much like Sawyer.

I think you should because honestly i don't believe that the characters like Phoenix took a back seat because of her.
I would say that Storms more pronounced role affected the cameos of alot of the other characters, but the major ones, i think they were done the way they were gonna be.
It should have been the Dark Phoenix Saga not the Cure, thats where the issue is.
I really just wish it was more about Phoenix. So I agree there.

Personally i'm in agreement here.
I have loved his character and i still thought he was great, but it did feel like he lost his way a bit and the writers had backed off him near the end.
Though i loved how he went at Pyro.
Personally i would have liked to have seen Magneto paying some respects to Charles in his own way, like see him hovering in the back ground at the funeral, or even say something when playing chess before he moved the piece.
I expected him to be playing chess with Xavier in some way 🙂

Personally, i think that the cure is only temp. I mean until they have a fully successful experiment that sees a mutant lose their powers for the rest of their life, they can't be sure its indefinite.

Jean, i gathered was 3/4, Phoenix was 5. Personally i don't think that this class had any effect of the mutant, if the cure was administered i think it would take effect. I'd suggest rather that the more ability, thus higher the Class the more 'Cure' is needed, but once its in the system its doing what it needs to.
I think that the reason Phoenix was killed was because there was no 'cure' at hand and Wolverine had to do what he had to so she would stop, and remember she wanted that.
This is how i would class them
Class 5 - Phoenix
Class 4 - Xavier, Magneto, Storm, Mystique

Pesonally, mutant strength wise, i don't think Wolverine is in there league, nor is Beast, Bobby, Rogue, Cyclops, Jean, Kitty and Pyro, having said that the way that Magneto and Co were so dismissive of Level 3's indicates that they have little power or aren't exactly that formidable, so i would need toknow the criteria for the groupings.
I pretty much agree here. Although Bobbys powers definately strengthened in this movie.

MAN I WAS TOTALLY THINKING THAT WHILE WATCHING...i was having flashbacks of Yellow Crayons!!!!
Heheh.

Seems like only thing we disagree on is Marsden/Cyclops - Berry/Storm......so some Karma for the rest:)

That movie was so awesome!!! It's the best one of the series in my opinion. What exactly happened after the credits?? I didn't stay that long.

remember the guy in the coma that Xavier mentions in his class.....well Xavier passed his conciousness into him....
Well, I just went to see the movie last night with a friend of mine and figured I'd give everyone my thoughts.

First two things (non-spoilers):

1) THIS MOVIE ROCKS- GO SEE IT NOW!!!!!!!! I wasn't going to at first but I did and it's now one of my faves!

2) STAY AFTER THE CREDITS!!!!!!!!! I'm not telling you why, just do it lol, it's worth the wait I promise, you will freak!!!!! 😀😀😀

Okay, now everything from here on is major spoilers, so stop reading if you want to remain safe 🙂

So here's my thoughts, the movie itself was amazing! The special effects in it were spectacular, and didn't look cheap like some movies I have sat through. I also liked the style of it, it's clear to see that there was a new director in this one, and I think he tapped into the characters really well, keeping a nice balance of the amazing story while digging into the characters a bit and their emotions, paticularily.

With Warren, the angel boy, I was very surprised by how small a role they gave him. When he was in one of the opening scenes, I figured that he would be a main player in the feature, however found myself a little dissapointed by how few scenes he was in, and the role he was given. I got the distinct feeling that he was almost an afterthought, and that with his role, the movie would have been equally as good without him. Don't get me wrong, I love his character, there just was so little of him. I also thought that he would have more interaction with the mutant boy (that held the cure), and was surprised they didn't expand on that. The one thing I did like though, is how we kind of saw what a mutant went through (as a child and how his father wanted to change him), and I felt that he became a kind of symbol to the audience of a mutant, that they could connect to emotionally. When he appeared at the school and talked about it being a safe haven, that was obviously an important scene, to show what the school really was. And, in the end, I think him saving his father and such reinforced the idea that the world is now more united, kind of summing up the mutant story in one character.

Another thing that I was surprised about was Mystique, and how few scenes she had as a human. I honestly thought they would have given her more, and I really did love her character. Was a bit dissapointed that we saw so little of her.

Then there's Jean/Pheonix. I LOVED her character, and the sides to her that we got to see. While I at first thought that the little boy may be the one to stop her (thought it would have made for a nice arc), or even Rogue (who wasn't in the final battle, thought she could stop her), I think Logan was truly the best way for her to go. The last scene with her made me tear up, and I think it was probably the only way that the fans really could have been "satisfied" with her ending. Although I was surprised her role wasn't more... I don't know, it didn't "wow" me as much as I expected, I suppose, I still did love the Pheonix vs. Jean kind of personas, that was really cool.

And as a sidenote, I think that the cure thing could have been developed a bit more, myself. I think the boy was just kind of, like Warren/Angel, underdeveloped and we just didn't see him as a character with a large enough role, I think. Just kind of was. Wouldn't have minded seeing some more stuff there.

This movie also got me thinking a lot, about the story and how much they left open for another movie. The first thing, is Scott, and how we never really saw him die. Given there's evidence that he did, but all the same the fact that we never saw any hard proof leaves me wondering. Another thing is the cure itself, and paticularily the effect it had on Magento (totally spelt his name wrong, you know the magnet dude 😉). In the end we see him using some of his powers, which leads me to wonder if it really was permanent. The only other characters we saw it "work" on were Rogue, who would support the idea that it is permanent, and Mystique, who I recall is a shapeshifter, and could probably just re-shift into her human form. Makes me wonder if it has a different effect on different mutants, or what. And of course then there's the final scene that pops up after the credits, and anyone who's seen it will know what I mean, it's actually crazy! I was jumping up and down.

Now, on that note, Charles' death, I was suprised by how little it affected me actually. I think it was right that he "went out" by the strongest mutant, as anything else would be unfitting, and I was sad to see him gone, dramatic scene, but I think I was touched moreso by Logan's reaction than the death itself. It was a powerful scene though, and I think that what was said about him from each character from then on was really excellent. Especially Magento, actually, and how he said he regretted his death, it showed a kind of respect that I didn't expect, and I really liked that.

As far as other things I liked, Storm kind of taking over I felt was a very good choice and true to her character. The showdown between Bobby and Pyro was AWESOME!!!!!!! Liked how Rogue did what she wanted, and Logan's advice to her beforehand. Actually I really did like Logan in this movie, maybe it's because we saw a lot of him and his character, but I really did like him in it. And that one like "Grow those back" with Logan, that made me laugh so hard! They did a good job of timing in this one, and placed comedic relief at just the right spot to kind of mellow out the heavy drama and such. Could go on forever about things I loved about the movie, it was truly fantastic! 😀

And as for my favourite character, I'm torn between Logan, Mystique, and Storm. All awesome characters, and each kind of have things about them I like. Couldn't name one I like over the other, but they're my top three for sure. (Did anyone else LOVE Storm's hair in this? ???). 🙂

So there's my thoughts on it, probably more than a few spelling errors in there but you get my point 🙂silly: ), awesome movie anyway, I give it 3/3 thumbs up!

loved this movie!! it was fantastic!! ok, you want me thoughts now? 😉

Storm: I don't think she was given and more or less screen time than she deserved. she was perfect in this, and the perfect person to take over from Xavier. (and yeah, i thought her hair was awesome!) it was nice to see her with her full range of powers, finally.

Cyclops: disappointed, extremly disappointed. he was one of my fave characters in the comic, and for him to have such a small role in this move, quite frankly sucked. i'm still not convinced he's dead, but they did find his glasses, and unless his powers mutated at an excellerated speed, he's a danger to everyone.

Logan: liked where they took his character and showed his emotions more, his love for Jean and his affection for Rogue. liked how he stepped up at the end and opted to stop Magneto.

Rogue: Again, one of my faves from the comic, but disapointed with her lack of screen time and her depowerment. like Magneto at the end, if the cure is only temporary, i fear for her and Bobby!

Beast: casting Kelsey Grammer was just amazing. he was great in this movie, and i loved every second of his screen time.

Juggernaut: really wanted to dislike him, but i have to admit, Vinnie Jones managed to pull it off. i loved his 'pee' line!

Kitty: i thought she was sweet! loved her. like Al said earlier, it wouldn't have really bothered me if Bobby and Kitty had gotten together, coz Rogue's supposed to be with Gambit!

Jean: wow, how freaky was she?! loved her though, she was great. her death scene with Logan was so heartbreaking, but it wasn't the fact that Logan killed her that got me teary, it was the look on her face, that amazingy peaceful smile.

Xavier: WOW! his death was so cool and unexpeced! it was fitting that Jean killed him, i wouldn't have accepted anyone else. it would have felt wrong. again, it wasn't his death that affected me, it was Logan and Storms reactions...God, that was hard to watch.

Callisto: thought she was good, (heh! a Potential!) but maybe could have had a bigger part.

Bobby: i liked how far his powers had advanced since the first movie. i thought he was good, i really liked his character.

Collosus: sharing his power with Rogue was one of the most unselfish acts in this movie. loved tha part where he was carrying the TV under his arm!

Psylocke: thought she'd have a bigger part. felt slightly cheated.

Angel: majorly underused. looking at all the press and the offical photos, he's in the mainline up, behind Loagn and Storm. thought he'd have a bigger part than he did.

Leech: again, felt he was underused. i wanna know what's going to happen to him now. his mutation is so unique, it'll be difficult for Stomr and the others to know what to do with him.

Multiple Man, Acrclight...MAJORLY underused! seriously, i thought that was so very wrong. according to Wikipedia, Jubilee and Syrin are supposed to be in the movie, but i didn't see them anywhere! Stepford Cuckoos are supposed to be in there too, but i guess i missed them!

as for the bit after the credits...OH MY GOD!! if they don't make another movie now, i'm going to inflict some serious pain!! what with THAT revelation and Magneto's they have to make another one!!

GO ON THEN lol

Hey can someone please tell me what happened after the credits?? I really wanna know, and wasn't able to stay that long! 🙁

I loved this movie!! It's was visually amazing!! And the storyline was so cool, as was the acting.

Storm I thought was brilliant, She was amazing, and I think Berry was right to demand more screen time, cuz it made the movie so much better.
I loved that Magneto was really upset by the death of Charles, That was awesome!
Jean was just uber cool!
Rogue and Bobby were alright not really a huge part, Although the guy that plays Bobby looked way older in this one, I thought he looked to old to be with Kitty!
Kitty I freaking loved!! She was so cool, I think she was one of the highlights of the movie, I loved the actress, I loved the character, I loved her power. That bit where she ran through the guy then attacked him from behind was so cool. And that chase scene with Juggernaut was ace! She was also really funny!
Logan, Not really a fan of his character. but he was alright.

i posted teh full account on After Darkness of after the creds:)
I just saw it, and it has inspired in me a love of X-men, I have never read the comics or anything. Are the comics still going? Is the one by Joss Whedon finished or is that still ongoing, and is it worth reading?

Holy crap.

Saw this movie tonight, and I'm extremely upset. I love how powerful they made Jean because she really is potentially the most powerful mutant ever due to the Phoenix force, but I hate how they explained her power. I mean they made her out to be a whimp in the first movie, then gave her a good amount of power in the second, and made her a goddess in the third installment? Just doesn't make sense. In the comic she did have the psychic barriers but she originally had only telepathic abilities. They should have used to comic plotline where she saw her friend killed in an automobile accident and that activated her powers. Would have been better than her being a kid and being able to telekinetically lift every single car in the neighborhood. That's outrageous.

And killing off the three most vital and oldest characters? WTF! The whole blowing people to bits was crazy and way out of line. However, I did like the fact that she was able to lift that much water in to the air and not even have any type of mental strain. The show of power was amazing, but perhaps it was too much.

Loved the last scene with Magneto. Such a hint towards the first movie. And I imagine having Leech at the school would cause quite a few problems. And having Rogue completely turn her life upside down? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

And did anyone else think they were somehow positioning Kitty for her own spin off? She did get some good lines and a lot of scenes. Far more than Rogue. I think she could pull something off.

Ah, Brian Singer, why did you have to leave X3. Superman looks like crap, dude.

Could someone please tell me what happened after the credits. I was far too upset to stay in that theatre.

Yeah, please someone tell me about what happened after the credits? I didn't know!

And I am absolutely FUMING at their under use of some characters. Angel, Leech, a lot of people. That annoyed me royally!

Saw it yesterday, was good in most parts!
I liked Storm, Rogue and Wolverine best, it was sad about Jean Grey having to die to save them from the Phoenix. :-(
*kick* "Grow those back."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oh and DDLM, your banner is HOT!

alrighty, my turn. i watched this movie friday but, of course, this was my first chance to comment on it

i have two view points on this movie:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

the positive:
as far as an individual movie itself, this movie was beyond amazing. everytime phoenix used her powers, i was blown away. it was just super cool.
the fight at alcatraz was just as cool. i really liked when magneto was throwing the cars and pyro lit them on fire.
i liked the fight between
iceman and pyro
, especially when
pyro says something like "you shoulda quit school" and then bobbie knocks him out and is like "you shoulda stayed"

collossus was totally kick ass in this movie. i like how his role and kitty's role were boosted. they were good parts. leech was awesome but i did have some issues with him

i really liked how magneto developed in this movie. when
he moved the entire golden gate bridge to make a way to the island
, that really showed the comic magneto. i was impressed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

the negative:
WTF?! can we say UNDERDEVELOPED?! the plot was one of the most rushed plots i have ever seen. i mean, honestly! at the beginning, when
xavier and magneto go to visit jean and she displays her powers
and then later when
xavier explains to wolverine that he had to put blocks on her mind to prevent the phoneix from coming out
what the hell is that? i mean, patrick stewart is a good actor, but that idea couldnt have been more forced if they'd tried.

and what about cyclops? his 2 minute cameo was, needless to say, a huge waste of time. it was as if they were trying so hard to close out his role that they were like, hey, we have no other ideas, so lets
make it look like phoenix disintegrated him, only, not really

angel was a terribly written role. he had a vital part of the movie, only it was one of the smallest.

leech had so much potential but they just
stuck him in a room to play video games until they decided they needed him to boost someone else's role
they kinda did the same with
the danger room
, meaning it had a lot of potential. it could have been a really cool scene if it were longer (and what good is
the danger room
without gambit? 😉)

the rogue/bobbie/kitty thing was terribly done. its like they started in the middle and cut if off right before the end.

what about nightcrawler? i knew, reading info online, that he wasnt going to be in the movie. but what about the storyline? they didnt even so much as mention his name...

and the cure. WTF!? i mean, its not enough that you have to
kill off the good part of the cast (cyclops and prof x)....so they just strip the other good part of the cast (mystique, magneto, rouge) of their powers. the only developed character left was wolverine. and they just had him kill phoenix)
(which, btw, if you even glance at the comics, you know is impossible)

and what about
the school closing down after prof x died?
was that supposed to be some sort of twist in the storyline or another branch of the plot? because it was only about 30 seconds of conversation. i swear, i reached over for Coke and about missed the entire scene.

which reminds me.....rouge....that chica had about as much screen time as cyclops. you remember him? yeah, they
killed him off
but apparently, if you blinked, you missed it. i must have blinked....

overall, the only parts of the movie i really liked were the action parts...and the scene at the very very end, after the credits. that sparked hope for another movie, but we all know that's not going to happen. as a de-vo-tee of the comics, i was extremely dissapointed. the movie itself, however, was not bad. unfourtuantely, it didnt, at all, fit with the other two movies. naturally, im gonna get it when it comes out on dvd though 😀

Okay, I'm gonna comment now. The movie was my favorite one out all all three but there were still some stuff that didn't really fit.

First. where was the Phoenix's fire? In the second movie, when Jean used her strong powers, she got all fiery and stuff. Like in the scene with the planes and when she sacrifices herself in the dam. But instead of having Fire Phoenix, we got scary veiny Phoenix. Thae same with the firebird that's supposed to sorround her. In the end of X-Men 2 you can kinda see the Phoenix's fire bird swimming in the water but in this movie it wasn't anywhere to be seen. When Cyclops was at the lake and Jean came out, there was a big flash of light so I was expecting the Phoenix bird in all it's glory but instead we get Jean just standing there. I was disappointed with that. In the second movie they were going for one thing but I guess with the new director, they changed it.

Another thing. I feel that Jean spent too much time in the backround. I don't really read the comics but I used to watch the cartoons and The Dark Phoenix was never the quiet stay in the backround type. If I'm wrong about that, please tell me LOL But I do admit that kinda added to her creepyness. You never knew what she was gonna tear apart next.

Next is Kitty. Where the hell did she come from? In the first movie Kitty was older. Remember when she walked thru the door at the Prof's office. Now she's like 14 and part of tne team?? I feel like they made her part of the team way to quick. I mean it took Rogue 2 movies to be made part of the X-Team and she was always there when danger struck. I do agree that she was really good in the movie but it's like she popped out of nowhere.

Now, Collosus. I was extremely disappointed with his role. He hardly appeared in the movie and he's the one I was psyched to see the most. When I seen him in the danger room, I thought he was gonna be in a lot of the movie but he wasn't. He had some great moments but I don't think it was enough. I was glad they made him part of the X-Men but still a little disappointed.

What the hell was that thing with Cyclops. That has to be the most cheated death scene ever. I was so mad when they killed him off so quick. I do think he's dead. I think the reason they didn't show it, is so that they won't give away Phoenix's big power so early in the movie. I mean if he did get torn into lil pieces, his glasses would be the only thing left since he wasn't wearing them.

I was so disappointed at what happened to Mystique too. All that time to try to rescue her and she turns human?? Not just that but Magneto just leaves her there!!!

Don't even get me started on Psylocke.

J
jayj
i agree with a lot of what you say. and isn't colossus supposed to have an accent?
I think Kitty is supposed to be like 19, The actress that plays her is 19, even though she looks younger, and if she were like 14 that love triangle storyline would be kinda gross!!

i agree black eye....... ew yep would be wrong....
and why does rouge give a monkeys coz she should be with gambit.
cant wait to see it again 🙂 ice mans cool ( excuse the pun) when hes fighting pyro and he ices up 🙂 dude 🙂
