Bangel vs. Spuffy

I'am confident enough to say that Buffy will end up with either Angel or Spike. I can't see her meeting another person that shapes up with the feelings she has for the two vampires she's been in love with. Riley didn't satisfy her, it took a certain type of bad boy to fulfill her needs. Angel and Spike fitted the bill.

I have to disagree with you. As I would love for Buffy to end up with no one else then Angel, I don't think him or Spike are only options. In the show, there were only 3 options for Buffy: Angel, Riley and Spike. And all 3 of them, left. Then they came back, and left again. It's probably because Joss doesn't belive in happy endings and he wanted to give evry ship it's happy and good moments, something fans would enjoy. They left, and maybe they'll be back. It doesn't mean someone else won't come to her while they're gone. Them leaving left opened spot for someone, and the question is only one: Who will Buffy choose? But I think she could end up with someone new.

It is hard for me I think Buffy did love Spike but it always just comes back to Angel. In the first three seasons I would have said that automatically but there was so much in both series after that.
I am a fan of Spuffy and think that they had some great moments but it would be hard for them to have a serious relationship long term wise. Spike though has a special place in her heart and I am fine with that as well.
Buffy to me should end up with the one of them no one else especially a human. Spike and Angel know her lifestyle and fight with her so it is good.
Wouldn't it be great if they could all just be together? 😉

Polygamy never ends well, from what I've heard. Lol.
Buffy still compared every relationship she had with her relationship with Angel, & she proved more than once that she's still in love with Angel. & so did Angel.

Buffy:
- S1-3
- "Pangs" Buffy watching out the window, she felt something but she wasn't sure
- "I Will Remember You"
- "Sanctuary" her jealousy after seeing him hugging faith in Ats S4, then getting back at him by throwing Briley in his face
- she had this "moment" with Angel in "the yoko factor" right before he left
- "Forever" she clearly showed she still had feelings for him, she said she thought she wouldn't have made it through the night without him
- she ran off to Angel after her resurrection, & described it as "intense"
- she said in season 7 "I loved Angel more than I would love anything in this life"
- her first instinct after seeing Angel in "End of Days" was kissing him
- "Chosen" the cookie dough speech

Angel:
- Buffy S1-3
- Ats S1, he proved he still loves her time & time again
- 3 months in a monastery after her death
- running off to Buffy after he knew she was alive
- Cordy & Wesley made a joke about their meeting, Angel commented by telling them that they pretty much summed it up
- his perfect day in Awakening, just after his moment of perfect happiness, he whispered her name
- he implied in "Chosen" that he still wants her
- S5 had a lot of moments too, one of his fears when a parasite was sucking his energy, was seeing Buffy with spike, & describing their love is eternal in "the girl in question"

and a side note, in Ats S5, Spike himself admitted that he had no chance with Buffy, & Angel said that she doesn't love him, Spike pretty much agreed, in a way.

that's my opinion & am not implying that its a fact, agree or don't, its your choice.

I understand ur point of view. It has always been made known that Buffy will continue to love Angel & he'll always be in her heart.

But, I dont agree about the part of Spike knowing that Buffy doesnt love him. Spike might think Buffy doesnt love him, but that doesnt make it true. It was even stated by JW I believe that Buffy was in love with Spike, but differently than how she loved Angel. This doesnt mean that Spuffy will end up together, but its enough IMO to prove that Buffy did, in fact, love Spike, even if Angel & Spike thought she didnt. Thats their own perception & opinion, not Buffys.

Personally, I love Spuffy & would love for them to end up together, I think its a strong possibility that Buffy may end up alone cuz its been stated more than once that the Slayer is alone at the end of the day. JMO.

I think Buffy loved Spike, but I belive Spike when he said she doesn't love him. I think she could never love him in the way he wanted to. She could never give him that pure love she gave to Angel. I think Spike wanted her love in the most purest form, he wanted a new begining.. he wasn't like Angel, redemption wasn't his thing, Buffy was.. he put her in the first place, and he wanted for her to do the same. But after some time, I think he realized she could never do that.

One of these ships resulted in a vampire's redemption and his acquisition of a soul. The other results in a monstrous vampire being unleashed upon the world and his attempt to suck everyone into a hell dimension to be tortured for all eternity. It's a hard choice, really.

Almost everyone, either consciously or unconsciously, compares their current love with their first love. That doesn't mean that she will never love anyone else ever again, or that she will never love anyone else as much or even more than that first love. The primary purpose for first loves is that, without them, there can never be a second, third, or fourth love.

And as for Angel telling Spike that Buffy never loved him, we're talking about someone who has gone far out of his way for most of two centuries to prove that he is better in every way than Spike ever will be. Would you expect him to change his tactics at this late date?

AS for Spike's own personal feelings, we're talking about a man who has quite likely never had any woman except his own mother admit to actually loving him, not even Buffy until their last moments together. No wonder he was somewhat less than certain.

The fact of the matter is, we have never been presented with a situation in which Buffy interacts with Angel and Spike, both with souls, at the same time up to this point. The last 4 issues of Season 8 will be the first time that we have ever seen that. Will there be any great revelations on the Spuffy/Bangel debate in those 4 issues? I'm gonna go way out on a limb and say that nothing will definitely be settled either way.

Anybody wanna make a bet?

I think Buffy's love for Angel is more intense then it is Spike. I'am basing that on how long it took for her to admit her feelings for Spike and also that quote "I loved him more than anything in the world" when she is referring to Angel.

while Buffy may have loved Spike, if there was a decision between the 2 of them, I don't see her choosing Spike over Angel.

am not denying their love, & I do understand their relationship. but I don't see Buffy waking up 50 years old with Spike next to her, not even Angel, but between the 2 of them, I see Angel waking up next to her more.

There seems to be a disagreement as to whether or not Buffy, at 16, is mature enough to actually fall in love with and form a lasting relationship with Angel, or, for that matter, anyone else. The truth of the matter is, yes, of course she is. Where the problem comes in is that, at 16, she isn't mature or experienced enough to realize and accept the fact that she will undoubtedly meet and fall in love with more than that one person. Very few people ever forget their first loves, or ever cease to cherish those memories. No one is incapable of falling in love for a second, third, or even more times in their life. What Buffy and Angel had in Sunnydale and a short time afterward was very special, but it is also very OVER. It's time is past. Both of the principals have moved on and formed other relationships which are almost, if not just as, strong as what they shared together.

Buffy and Angel may meet again some day and fall in love all over again, but if and when they do, it will be a mature woman falling in love with a mature man, not a teenaged girl becoming infatuated with a character straight out of a Harlequin romance novel. They will both have had enough experience by that time to build something permanent. But that is for then. Bangel died with the only thing that ever actually brought them together: Sunnydale and the hellmouth.

Spuffy, however, is a forever love, sanctioned by forces beyond the scope and comprehension of mere mortals, the joining of the world's only two true Champions, sanctified by the Touch Of Flame shared by them at the very mouth of hell itself. It's called the Prophecy Impressiveness:

"And, lo, it shall come to pass in those days that a warrior torn from heaven itself shall join forces with a poet who has regained his very soul, and together they shall defeat the final forces of darkness and the world shall know peace and prosperity for centuries to come. And they shall dwell in the house of the white picket fences for all of the rest of their days, while the Buffoon of Broodiness sits in a corner and weeps. Amen."

Spuffy, lol. :giggle2:

When it comes to angel and buffy, you know its true love. They can face anything together. You can really feel the love they share for eachother. It was really sad that they couldn't be together in the series. They made the perfect couple. They were the couple that other romantic relationships in buffy are compared to.

With spike and buffy, it seemed do rushed and so forced. I was convinced that spike loved buffy but i didn't feel the same way about buffy. She had feelings for him but i think she knew it would never work out between the two and she could never really love him.

Rushed, really? Spuffy was the slow-burn ship, there was so much build-up over the years. Compare that to Bangel where it's a kiss one episode and 'I love you' the next (paraphrasing 😛) and IMO, Bangel was the rushed ship.

Anything except Season 4, apparently. (I know, Angel left because he got his own show, but that's not the excuse that they used at the end of Season 3.) Angel left because he couldn't face the temptation to have another moment of perfect happiness with Buffy. And then he couldn't even keep that resolve, because they kept having all those crossovers.

Of course they didn't used that as an excuse. How would that look like? "Listen Buffy, I love you and all, but I'm gonna have my own show now and that's more important to me then our love?" -.-"

Also, I don't belive he left because of that tamptation, I think reason was much deeper. They had a wish to express their love in that way, but they knew they can't. That was one problem, big, but not biggest. Bigger problem was his wish for her to have a normal life. A normal love. He loved her that much, he left for her own good.

I agree with WA. Angel left the show because he couldn't handle being around Buffy anymore. It hurt too much. The risk was just too great. The chaos that ensued last time they slept together. Angel was willing to do anything to prevent that from happening again. Sometimes distance is the only answer to a situation. It wasn't about his "mission" in L.A. being more important than their love. It was about her safety and the safety of her friends and family. Angelus was just too dangerous to allow the possibilty of him being unleashed again.

When two people are in love, it's natural to want to sleep together. Angel (and Buffy) knew that, if they'd stayed together, it'd only be a matter of time until it happened again. That's why Buffy didn't go after him when he left. She knew it was the only way to ensure nothing like that would ever happen again.

But we all know the "real" reason he left the show; it was to star in his own.

I'm also with PB and dan on this one. For me, the sex thing wasn't about Angel not being able to resist temptation and more about him wanting Buffy to have a love where she could give all of herself to someone, he didn't want to hold her back from that.

His whole reason for leaving was because he wanted her to live a full, natural life because he loved her enough to know she deserved that. I don't think Angel's decision was ever really about himself or Angelus or anything else other than giving Buffy the freedom to become everything he knew she was capable of becoming. There was nothing in the episodes that highlighted his decision that suggested otherwise to me.

Absolutely true. Love this post.
I agree with Flannie. I think Buffy and Angel were both strong enough and smart enough to prevent that from happening again. Angel needed to stay away from Buffy, because if she really is love of his life, she could've give him moment of true happiness in some other way. It was never said it has to be sex. It could've been a simple kiss, or a moment worth remembering. But then it was about sex.. not much about sex but they becoming as one. Buffy lost her virginity and Angel lost himself in her a little. But that was then, and I think they learned from that.. I'm not gonna call that moment a mistake, because it wasn't. It was beautiful.
