super old thread, but im doing a re-read while waiting for more hardcover editions to come out.
i dont think buffy herself was ever a super foe of amy, but initially i would guess it was what buffy stood for- controlled magic, doing whats right, leader of the slayers, good- basically all of which willow aligned with and turned her against amy. although now those who have read the issue know its because of her connection to the boyfriend, or perhaps the twilight associations.
so my thoughts on the re-read... i still don't like jeanty's art, but i think this first issue isn't too terrible with their likenesses. i do think he does great with dawn, and the panels with her and buffy talking as dawn sat there was my favorite as far as the art goes. also definitely prefer the color scheme here vs season 10 because it feels more like the unsaturated effect of the show, meanwhile s10 just looks too colorful...
the story was a good start to the season, probably the only redeemable aspect of it as whole... and was i the only one not expecting the slayer army? for one, how did they get the funds? we all know buffy isnt the best with money... plus it seemed to me like she was ready to relax and party in rome like double, especially with that smile at the end of season 7.
